servers available _now_ .
Hello :-)
I had a look at the servers that can stream Theora.
I saw that ffmpeg was greatly appreciated.
What's your opinion ? Is there any chance that IceCast can do it (What
source would be used? Ices?) ?
I really want to support Xiph products.
I saw that page
http://www.linuxmafia.com/faq/Apps/AV/video-streaming-servers.html
but it's a bit old now, may be things have changed :-)

Touching shoutcast.com directory with Icecast2
Hello,
Is there a way to touch Shoutcast directory with an Icecast server ?
Is for a mp3 stream.
The server is already serving ogg stream but our foundation got a new
member that did not know about ogg, and he needs time to encode his
tracks to ogg, and then we should temporarily relay his mp3 stream, but
we want to be dired by SC directory ...
How to ? :-)

problem to exclude
Hi,
I want to mirror NetBSD on this server:
ftp://ftp.univ-orleans.fr/logiciel-libre/netbsd-ftp/
The problem is I dont want to mirror old versions (1.5.x)
There are 1.5* branches as subdirs of 'packages' and others at the root
of the server called 'NetBSD-release-1-5' and 'NetBSD-1.5.3'.
I want to avoid to sync them.
The command I use to sync is:

CPU load
Hello,
>From time to time my computer freezes.
I noticed it freezed when i transcoded from mp3 to ogg, with mp32ogg.
Then later I noticed it freezed too when I encoded from wav to ogg with
oggenc.
When I use mp32ogg or oggenc, the CPU load is 99% during the process and
the computer freezes after 10 minutes.
But, I tried to load the CPU and bzip2 a large file during 30 minutes,
but the

relaying streams
Hello,
We're part of a LUG (Linux User Group) based at the University of
Orleans in France.
We have several dedicated servers for our foundation (we made the LUG a
foundation, for administrative and papers...)
We are able to relay some video or audio streams. We have, for the
mooment 3 servers, with both 6Mbps (yes it's not huge, but it's better
than nothing :-) )

troll or truth ?
Hello,
I was discussing on the mplayer/mencoder ML about transcodingfrom Divx
to Theora. I got these kind of answers:
http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.video.mencoder.user/280
Of course I understoud only 50% of what he said, as well as I am not
really used with codec and video glossary...
But I generally understoud his opinion. What to think? I would like not
to believe him, espacially when

using nvidia drivers on Xen kernel
Hi,
At work, I must use the nvidia proprietary drivers.
I also have to use Xen.
As we now, nvidia module compilation fails when it detects a xen kernel (it's
not package level, it' the kind of 'configure' script embeded, I think).
As far as I know, it only parses the config file of the _runnning_ kernel
(with uname -r).
I did not try anything yet, but I ask for advice. What

Complete set of tools for Icecast
We are switching from Windows Media to Icecast. I want to get as close
to open source as possible.
That means that I need the following open-source items:
Player for Windows (not Winamp if possible - it's now owned by AOL.)
Player for Mac
Player for Linux
We will also be podcasting, so that means our encoding needs to be
compatible with the Apple iPod. Here's what it supports: MP3

adjusting textsize and spacing in mosaic (vcd package)
I'm trying to find a way to change the font size in a mosaic plot (the
grid version, not the base graphics one).
Here's an example to demonstrate:
#Basic plot
library(vcd)
mosaic(HairEyeColor, shade = TRUE)
#Bad first guess: this stops the default cell colouring, and doesn't
change the font size
mosaic(HairEyeColor, shade = TRUE, gp=gpar(fontsize=16))
#This successfully changes

Plot multiple datasets on a VCD ternary graph
I need to plot multiple sets of data, on one Ternary plot (from the VCD
package). Since they all need to be formatted differently, I can't just
coerce them into one matrix, I need three separate calls. Is there a way to
do this? Thanks

barplot with vcd library
'barplot' doesn't seem to work with vcd library.
Am I supposed to detach vcd when I want to use barplot?
Here's an example.
Say I have the following matrix,
> m <- matrix(c(1,2,3, 4,5,6, 3,4,5, 2,3,4), ncol=4)
> m
[,1] [,2] [,3] [,4]
[1,] 1 4 3 2
[2,] 2 5 4 3
[3,] 3 6 5 4
Then
> barplot(m)
gives a barplot of the data.

How to add a legend to a goodness-of-fit plot (vcd:goodfit)?
Hello,
Sample code:
library("vcd")
dummy <- rnbinom(200, size=1.5, prob=0.8)
gf <- goodfit(dummy, type="nbinomial", method="MinChisq")
plot(gf)
I would like to:
1. add a lgened stating the bars show the actual counts and the red
dots - the fit.
2. show the goodness-of-fit values calculated somewhere on an empty
white space ob the plot.
But... the legend

Changing Variable Names In VCD
Hello:
What is the most efficient way to change the plotted variable names in mosaic plots in the vcd package? Should one do a separate contingency table first, change the dimension names there and then pass that to mosaic?
Or is there a way to do it simply within mosaic.
I was thinking something like:
mosaic(~var1+var2, labelling_args=list(varnames=c('newvar1', 'newvar2'))

How to make two figures in one plot - package vcd
Dear all,
I have a problem to make figures with two columns in package vcd.
Here an example code I take from "\library\vcd\html\plot.loglm.html"
What I need, I want to make two figures in one plot.
How could I do that.
I have tried with
layout(rbind(c(1, 1, 2, 2)))
but the same result, two plot.
Best wishes, Muhammad Subianto

new package "vcd" 0.1-3
Dear R users,
there is a new package on CRAN called `vcd' for visualizing categorical
data. It basically implements a set of visualization techniques together
with a large collection of data sets and examples from the book
"Visualizing Categorical Data" by Michael Friendly. By now the features
of the package essentially cover chapters 2-4 from the book:
