Quality of vp3.2 codec?
How good is the video compression in vp3.2? For example, how does it compare (bit rate & quality) to mpeg1, mpeg2, Divx, real Video 8+, Windows Media, etc. etc. It being open source is nice and all, but if it can't be reasonably competitive then there isn't much point to it. Ogv file only plays in VLC / Can't be used by most tools.
Hi, I'm new here - thanks for having me. (Sorry if I'm in the wrong place or a noob.) I downloaded the Theora encoder sample (ver 1.1.1), modified it to encode a sequence of bitmaps, and created an OGV file. The OGV file plays fine in the latest VLC (1.0.5), but I can't do much else with it: I tried uploading to YouTube, and the video just comes out really corrupt:

Independent implementations?

On2 VP3 codec for Intel macs
Hi all, It's been a few years since I encoded a number of movies using the VP3 codec (v3.2) on my Quicksilver PPC. Now I have a new Intel mac and I'd like to play them. However, it seems that the codec offered on On2's website is only for the PPC architecture. Does anyone know a workaround or some other codec that works on the MacIntel platform? I'm using Quicktime Pro 7.

Quicktime Vs Windows encoding with VP3
I found out about vp3 from the new winamp and coincidentally i also happen to be trying to find a suitable solution to broadband streaming. I have used flaskmpeg to create a 17mb .avi file from an 82mb Mpeg 1 file and it looks great it took about twenty minutes to encode. expected bitrates ?
Fo HDTV sized 422 originals, what kind of bitrates can one expect theora to hit at reasonable quality? Can't find the setup code
