Motherboard capable of VT-d
Hi! I''ve got a motherboard (Gigabyte GA-G33-DS3R) where the Ethernet port has been broken. I''ll buy a new motherboard, but wants to keep all my other equipment (CPU, Memory, TV-cards etc). The requirements/wishes on the new motherboard are 2 Ethernet ports and 2 PCI slots. It would also be good if it would support VT-d. I''ve found two boards that would fulfill my

Intel G33 Compatibility for Centos Server
Been running rock solid servers on Centos 3 and 4 for years but equipment is starting to die so it is time. I was thinking along the lines of an Intel Q6600 on an Asus P5K-VM mobo with the new G33 chipset utilizing SATA. Is anyone having success with this board or any of the G33 chipsets where I am not going to run into all kinds of install problems? I see these other threads of install

Xen and Linux on Intel G33 needs kernel 2.6.19+
Dear, I''m looking to get Xen running on a system that (afterwards) seems a bit too new. The board has the Intel G33 chipset with the Intel ICH9 southbridge. This chipset is NOT supported by kernel 2.6.18 which ships with Xen 3.1.2 (and Debian Etch). So the question is: * What version of Xen to install to get going? Should I choose unstable? * What distribution will be the easiest to get

tftpd server
Hi In the pxelinux page, is referred that the tftpd server from http://tftpd32.jounin.net as working with pxelinux. However, from the tests I've made, it seems that the 'tsize' option is not supported. Anyone has knowledge of a working TFTPD server that runs on Windows NT4? p.s. it can be shareware, I just want to test it with NT4, I have had success with the 'builtin'

PXE boot from Windows XP
Yes, you are missing these options in the DHCP server: 66 'Boot Server Host Name' (the tftp server IP) 67 'Bootfile Name' (pxelinux.0) -----Original Message----- From: Pierre VIALLET [mailto:pvt at auvitran.com] Sent: Wednesday, February 12, 2003 10:18 AM To: syslinux at zytor.com Subject: [syslinux] PXE boot from Windows XP Hi, I want to boot a VIA EPIA Motherboard from a

I made other tests. It's not a matter of Win98 versus WinXP, things change passing from tftpd32 v310beta to v3.33. This version seems to work fine, but the logs show problems. Here is the complete log with pxelinux 3.82-pre4: Rcvd DHCP Discover Msg for IP 0.0.0.0, Mac 00:1E: 68:A6:9E:A9 [05/06 18:24:43.816] DHCP: proposed address 192.168.1.20 [05/06 18:24:43.816] 1356 Request 2 not

Debugging memdisk loaded via pxelinux
I have a USB flash drive that I'd like to image, and then load that image via pxelinux and memdisk. The flash drive was formatted under Windows 98 SE as FAT, and boots just fine on its own. The PXE boot process gets as far as loading the image via memdisk, but then when the boot process switches over to the RAM disk, it fails: [...PXE diagnostic information...] Loading boot

tftpd32
Hi, I've been sorting out a network boot strategy for a mixed network (NT/2K based server, booting linux clients). As I'm running (not by choice) Windows based servers, I have been trying to use Philippe Jounins excellent tftp server. Have you had any reports of problems with the latest version of his server (v2.51 tftpd32j.zip) ? I was getting an error about the server not supporting

Centos 5.2 and 2.6.18-92 Kernel backported SATA fixes?
Last year to get motherboards with the G33 chipset with SATA working with Centos I had to either use David Harbic fixes or use Fedora 8 since it had the later 2.6.25 kernel. I no longer see David's fixes available and also see in the 5.2 release notes "update SATA driver and infrastructure". Did Redhat finally incorporate fixes to full support the new G33 chipset and SATA? I have

pxelinux and WDS server for Vista
I am testing BDD 2007 and WDS on a Windows 2003 Server. I have a PXE Server with tftpd32 and pxelinux boot. Is it possible to have a menu entry that chain the first pxe booting(pxelinux) to the WDS Server which is on a different computer because I can't install WDS on the TFTP pxelinux. I have testing this entry: LABEL TEST WDS kernel ipadress::pxeboot.0 but the first server always respond

PXEbooting very slow
I'm using pxelinux.0 version 3.81 (3.80 had similar problems) with tftpd32. It is very slow in loading "default" file; tftpd32 shows it continuously sends this file together with menu.c32, but pxelinux.0 keeps on requesting for, say, 5 seconds. Occasionally it is also slow in checking the other possible config files (those based on mac address): it spends some seconds on each

Unbootable machine
Hello Peter & Jeremy, I've found an ordinary desktop PC (with Phoenix Award BIOS 6.00PG) that won't boot off a USB stick created by livecd-tools-024 with syslinux (tested both versions 3.75 and 3.81). The boot process drops to the "boot:" prompt with an error message: could not find kernel image: linux The same USB stick boots fine on any other computer I could find.

Gigabyte motherboards and Syslinux
I read the mailing list archive about Gigabyte motherboards not working with USB booting ("[syslinux] Gigabyte recent bios & syslinux extlinux trow USB-IDE bridges or pendrives", 16 Aug 2006). I have a Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-DS4H motherboard that I tried to boot in USB-HDD mode with a PNY boot pen. I installed System Rescue CD on it. It would appear that Gigabyte still doesn't

Xen dom0 and ZFS boot?
Some background - I have a couple of NetBSD (i386) boxes and CentOS 5 boxes that I want to virtualise and I''m trying to work out which OS will be most suitable as the dom0. I have a desire to run at least RAID1 and ideally ZFS mirroring on the dom0 so I can have all the domU''s not have to worry about disk redundancy etc. My hardware : I have a brand new Intel E8200 core2duo and

linux v4.4.0 nouveau fails
Please keep me in the CC. I am not subscribed to this list. When booting 4.4.0 on one of my systems, when nouveau loads, the screen goes into powersave. It doesn't appear to register the fb0 device. When X starts up, the screen comes back and I'm able to login. When launching anything that accesses 3D, the screen freezes. Nothing is logged in either X or dmesg. This same system works

Network problems on new CentOS 5 install on P35, ICH9R mobo
Had to replace dying cpu and mobo, so also replaced IDE with new SATA drive. Installed from latest ISO onto SATA and can't get networking to lease an IP address from my ISP (Comcast). The network utility always comes up with a private address (192.168.0.2) instead of Comcast IP. To add to confusion, if I boot into old IDE drive, I get proper network connection to internet, but lose my

Centos 5.0 Intel G33/P35 Chipset Support (Asus P5K-VM, P5KC)
I have 2 new boxes that I cannot use yet because of problems supporting these newer chipsets in 5.1. Does anyone know when the CD version of 5.0 x86-64 that has support for these chipsets be available on any on a Centos mirror? Has the support for these chipsets been added to yum yet? Here are my latest results with these chipsets and Centos 5.1 1. Asus P5K, E6850, P35 Chipset: Does not
