CFD Plots in R and Other Things
Dear All, I am getting some data from fluid dynamics simulations (air mixing in a pipe, 2D axial symmetry, geometry described by a radial coordinate r and an axial coordinate z) which I'd like to plot and analyze with R. Think about slicing the cylinder along its axial direction to get a set of cross sections which are orthogonal to the z axis. For each section, I have a set of velocity

Three-dimensional (3D) movement using 'R'
Hi Everyone, I have a question regarding the construction of 3D graphs in 'R', BUT these graphs also need to illustrate movement (with time) of the prostate gland (using radiological techniques). I am not sure how to do this in 'R' although I'm sure there is some way of doing it. Below, I have copied and pasted some of the data with which I'm working on. The data

Polar plot, circular plot (angular data): II
Dear R-users, As noted by Paul Murrell < p.murrell at auckland.ac.nz > there is errors in the code for polar plotting I send to R-help under the title "Polar plot, circular plot (angular data)" at Thu Oct 17 2002 - 12:18:20 CEST. Thanks! I have reorganized the code into a structure ('pp'). This allows plots to be modified to a greater extent by passing arguments by ...

Changing radii line type in radial plots
Hello all, Is it possible to change the radii line type in radial plots? I wasn't able to find anything online. Thanks, Bern -- View this message in context: http://r.789695.n4.nabble.com/Changing-radii-line-type-in-radial-plots-tp4647238.html Sent from the R help mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Polar plot, circular plot (angular data)
Dear R-users, Hereby a polar plot function for plotting angular data. I hope it will be usefull for some of you. I had a need to plot frequencies of wind-directions. The not-that-cheap SigmaPlot software did not allow me to change the orientation of the angular axis to clockwise orientation (what is used for meteorological observations). I even tried the latest version availible at the time

trouble with plotrix package
Hello list, I wrote a simple program to plot data on polar axes, taking advantage of the plotrix package and its function radial.plot. The basic plot works fine, but I am having difficulties with the formatting. There are three problems, but I thought I would attack them one at a time. Here is the first: If my data set contains values with all vector lengths between 0 and 100 (and various

mfrow is ignored by some plots
Hi all, I was just informed that the plots in the radial.plot family in the plotrix package do not plot correctly when using mfrow or mfcol to subdivide the plot window. I found one related message, an answer from Deepayan Sarkar to a question about lattice graphics, but that shed no light on this problem. If I invoke par(mfrow=c(2,2)) and run radial.plot a few times, the plots appears in

spatial probit/logit for prediction
Hello all, I am wondering if there is a way to do a spatial error probit/logit model in R? I can't seem to find it in any of the packages. I can do it in MATLAB with Gibbs sampling, but would like to confirm the results. Ideally I would like to use this model to predict probability of parcel conversion in a future time period. This seems especially difficult in a binary outcome model

Target Plot?
I've done a little snooping around the R Gallery Site (http://addictedtor.free.fr/graphiques/) and the "Statistics with R" site (http://zoonek2.free.fr/UNIX/48_R/all.html), but I can't seem to find what I'm looking for.  Here is the type of plot I would like to draw: (1) 2-D three axis plot where each axis is separated by 120-degrees (would be great if the number of axis

Transparent Labels for Polar Plot
Hello, I am currently using the polar.plot function in the plotrix package to graph data. Unfortunately, it seems that the default for the labels is to have a background color that is covering the line representing my data, making it difficult to read. Is there a way to make this label background transparent? Example: lengths <- 0:72 bearing <- seq(from=0, to=360, by=5)

polar.plot
Hi, Two questions: 1 - Say I have average speed and directions for tide and I would like to plot them on a polar plot, but with different colors so I can indicate the two directions. I'm using polar.plot from the plotrix library. How can I add a second "b" and "dir.b" series to a polar.plot? library(plotrix) a = 3 dir.a = 85 b = 4 dir.b = 250 polar.plot(a, dir.a, start =

Legend for radial.plot?
Using plotrix, is it possible to create a legend for the following and attach it to the radial.plot?   posmat<-matrix(sample(2:9,30,TRUE),nrow=3) radial.plot(posmat,labels=paste("X",1:10,sep=""),rp.type="p",   main="Spiderweb plot",line.col=2:4,show.grid=FALSE,lwd=1:3,   radial.lim=c(0,10))   Thanks. subplot (Hmisc) and radial.plot (plotrix) problem
Folks, I am having problems with a plot I want to create to give an impression of changes in an ordinal scale measure (1-5) at three time points (0, 14 and 21 days). I can produce a radial plot of bare vectors but getting this to appear on the base plot is not possible as it always seems to end up below the plot area and even outside the plot window. It seems I have not understood

Polar graph of time and tide
I have been trying to visualize times of lowest tides, month by month. I have tide predictions with times either in unix time or a text format, and heights in feet or meters. I had been able to derive the clock times of each prediction. I would now like to graph this data with points showing heights as "r" and times as "theta", from 0000 to 2355. There is a seasonal

Plot.svm error
Hi all, Sorry to be bothering again with probably an easy error to fix, but I've been trying to solve the problem and haven't been able yet to do it. So I'm doing this: > dados<-read.table("b.txt",sep="",nrows=30000) >

symbols hidden in polar.plot
Hi Folks, Here is my attempt at a simple polar plot. > pos <- seq(0,360,by=5) > tspk <- rep(c(1,0,1),c(13,47,13)) > require(plotrix) > polar.plot(tspk,pos,rp.type="s",point.symbols=17,point.col="green4") I only see half the symbols, the other half of each symbol is hidden under the circular grid. In fact if I change rp.type="r", I see the

plotting radial dendrograms
Dear list, I am trying to plot a radial dendrogram using the ape package, which requires my data to be of class 'phylo'. Currently I have my dendrogram stored as an object of class 'dendrogram' which was produced from an outside bit of C code, but was made into an object of class 'igraph.eigenc' and converted to a dendrogram using 'as.dendrogram()' from the igraph

GE centricity viewer??
I picked up some data from the nearest hospital to take to the specialist at the next one, with whom I had an appt.; it came on a CD, which is marked "DICOM Volume with GE Centricity Viewer." When I put the CD into a drive, Fedora 11 auto-mounts it, and fails to find the autorun.exe, which is right there in plain sight. (F11 knows it exists, and asks whether to run it, and then

Frequencies from a matrix - spider from frequencies
First of all, I really like R! Still being a newbie, I find things (the difficult ones) to be very simple. Alas, some 'simple' things still escape me. (Maybe the tutorials are often too much focused on the 'difficult' items??) Here comes my 'problem', over which I have sweated for the last 2 hours: My data are of a matrix 10x31, Likert Scale (1-5). 10 questions, 31
