ggmap crash
Not sure if this is the right place to report this, but: Am using ggmap to generate a map of a bounding box from 161 latitude/longitude pairs and the code crashes R (in ess). Data is at http://analysis.d8u.us/~hdiwan/plotSource.csv and the code to read it is below. I'm not sure if ess, emacs, ggmap, R, or my laptop is to blame. Here's the code: > rmc <-

ggplot2: legend
Dear all, I produced the following graph with ggplot which is almost fine, yet I don't like that the legend for "Means" and "Observations" includes a line, though no line is used in the plot for those two (the line for "Overall Mean" on the other hand is wanted): library(ggplot2) ddf <- data.frame(x = factor(rep(LETTERS[1:2], 5)), y = rnorm(10)) p <-

Insert segment only on particular facets in ggplot
Dear R users, I am working on a data-set with 3 species. They are apple, orange and banana. I want to annotate the facets only on the bottom panel. However, by default I am getting annotations on all the plots. I was able to get text annotation only on the desired plot. However, I am confused what I need to do for the arrows / segments. Here is my code: library(ggplot2) library(grid) tempobs

par code help
I am making a barplot using barplot2 from gplots where each bar represents a specific tree species. I have formatted the species names on the x-axis so that the genus name is above the species name and have then rotated the labels 45 degrees to save room. This is my code: >columncolor<-c("grey20", "grey20", "grey20", "grey70",

Plotting bar graph over a geographical map
Hi, I am looking for a way to plot bar on a map instead of the standard points. I have been using ggplot2 and maps libraries. The points are added with the function geom_point. I know that there is a function geom_bar but I can't figure out how to use it. Thank you for your help, Simon ### R-code library(ggplot2) library(maps) measurements <-

Illustrating kernel distribution in wheat ears
Dear all R2.10 WinXP I have a dataset dealing with the way different wheat cultivars build their yield. Wheat ears are organised in spikelets where the spikelets can be numbered from the bottom, with even numbers on one side and odd on the other. I know how many kernels there were in each spikelet after some months spent counting them... Now I want to illustrate the differences between the

barplot - offsetting individual bars
Hello, I'm trying currently using barplot to summarize precipitation data. So far I've compiled total annual snow and rain accumulation in a table (attached). I've been successful at plotting it using the following code: fig=barplot(t(Annual_Precip_table), horiz=TRUE, space=0, col=c("grey70", "white"), axes=FALSE) . . The result is a stacked barplot with total

getGraphicsEvent() and setTimeLimit() bug and compatibility patch.
Hey all. Setting a time limit with setTimeLimit(), and then using getGraphicsEvent(), will cause graphics event handling for the current device to break on timeout, until the device is destroyed and recreated. The problem lies in do_getGraphicsEvent() checking the value of dd->gettingEvent and concluding it's being called recursively (ironically this same test fails to detect actual

Adding lines to scatterplot odd result when creating multiple plots
Dear R helpers I'm attempting to create a matrix of scatterplots with X-Y mean lines and regression lines added to each plot in the matrix. I have managed to create the first plot I would like using scatterplot but have run into an odd result when I use par() to set up the page to take multiple plot. Specifically, the mean and regression lines appear to plot in the second plot window, not

Using abline in lattice
Dear all, being a relative beginner in R, I apologize for posting the second question within two days. So I want a stacked barchart, which should look like the one produced by this code: Tuvalu <- c(9,3,4,0,3,0,0) Singapor <- c(38,0,0,0,12,19,0) Samoa <- c(26,16,2,0,5,2,0) PNG <- c(56,4,0,5,2,0,56) Micronesia <- c(6,0,0,0,0,0,0) graph4 <-

organising the display in Trellis plots
Hallo, I would like to organise at my pleasure the layout of a trellis plot. Currently I have a 3x3 matrix display and 7 plots. Is it possible to choose which specific panels will stay empty? I tried index.perm to arrange the order. Then there is perm.cond which I could not understand if it can serve for my purpose since I cant really find which kind of data it accepts. Thank you for the help.

plotting issues with PCA
Hi Listers, This has a simple answer but it has been eluding me nonetheless. I have been building a PCA plot from scratch with the ability to plot predefined groups in different colors. This has worked fine but when I try to get a polygon drawn around each of the groups it is not recognising my colour file correctly and is only printing the first colour in the file....code is below

Lattice graphics and strip function
I am looking for examples of code that demonstrates the fine tuning of the strip panels in lattice graphics and uses plotmath characters. The code for the graphic is as follows: xyplot(lagy ~ n | rho1 * rho2, data= data, layout=c(2,6), span = 1, xlab = "Sample Size", ylab = "Bias in the Coefficient for the Lag of X", type = "o") rho1 is a four level factor

How to shade area between lines in ggplot2
Thank you, but this split the area into two and distorts the shape of the plot. (compared to ``` p + geom_abline(slope = slope_1, intercept = intercept_1 - 1/w[2], linetype = "dashed", col = "royalblue") + geom_abline(slope = slope_1, intercept = intercept_1 + 1/w[2], linetype = "dashed", col = "royalblue") ``` Why there

How to shade area between lines in ggplot2

mapping of colornames into hsv: half way done
Ok, now we have the mapping of color names to color codes (see below) and conversion to rgb (something like Ben Bolker's function), but how to convert rgb to hsv? Thanks to Brian Ripley, Peter Dalgaard and Ben Bolker Details below Regards Jens etc/colors.big maps 455 names to rgb in S syntax etc/rgb.txt maps 657 names to rgb in C syntax, but unlike colors() it has mixed upper and

How to shade area between lines in ggplot2
Hi Put fill outside aes p+geom_ribbon(aes(ymin = slope_1*x + intercept_1 - 1/w[2], ymax = slope_1*x + intercept_1 + 1/w[2]), fill = "blue", alpha=0.1) The "hole" is because you have two levels of data (red and blue). To get rid of this you should put new data in ribbon call. Something like newdat <- trainset newdat$z <- factor(0) p+geom_ribbon(data=newdat, aes(ymin =
