Understanding svd usage and its necessity in generalized inverse calculation
Dear R-devel:
I could use some advice about matrix calculations and steps that might
make for faster computation of generalized inverses. It appears in
some projects there is a bottleneck at the use of svd in calculation
of generalized inverses.

Debian packaging and openblas related crash when profiling in R
Hello R-sig-debian and (hopefully) Dirk:
On Debian wheezy, I have the R packaging that CRAN (you) provide. I
run into a little trouble while trying to fiddle with alternative
BLAS.
I know you and I went around on this last year and I think perhaps
I've found something wrong in the framework, or I've just done
something wrong.

I'm making some illustrations and it would be convenient to
automatically shade the overlapping portions of circles. These
illustrations are for Social Choice theory, a field in political
science and economics. I've wrestled together some examples so you
can see what I mean, but have not mastered the "color overlapping

Found explanation for R-2.15.2 slowdown in one case; caution for any users of La_chol
2 days ago, I posted my long message about the observed slowdown in a
package between R-2.15.0 and R-2.15.2.
Uwe Ligges urged me to make a self-contained R example. That was the
encouragement I needed. I tracked the problem down to a failing use of
a LAPACK routine.

Patch proposal for R style consistency (concerning deparse.c)

Cisco 7960 XML/Configs
I ordered 10 7960's with SIP today (YAY!), I should have them on Monday!
So, to be better prepared come Monday morning, I was wondering if anyone
knew of any * compatible screen configs for things such as browsing VM,
etc, yadda, yadda. I checked out the wiki about ADSI but from what I
see, that's not really applicable in a SIP setup? I'm guessing it's
going to be a more XML

I'm currently researching possible implementations of a streaming Ogg server for use with DarkIce to reencode live radio traffic for streaming simulcast. DarkIce claims support for IceCast2, which supports streaming Ogg-vorbis media. samba/AD expert? for pay?
Howdy.
What's a good way to locate a Samba/Active Directory expert (for pay)?
I just don't have time to read every HOWTO I can find, and the many
hours I've spent trying to apply the scraps of things I've read have

Too many opened files....samba 3.0.28a
An XP client is having an issue with my 3.0.28a server. They do not have this problem on a native w2003 file server with the same amount of data.

putting circles/buffers arround points on a 2D graph/plot
Hi,
I'll try to keep my question brief and to the point, to anyone who helps 'THANK YOU!'
I want to get a circle/ring/buffer or some other form of drawn line around certain points on a x,y plot, the points usually don't form a circle, often they form a 'wobbly' shape, so ideally I'd like something that follows the shape the points make.

Hello. I run samba 3.0.21c on RHEL AS 4 EMT_64 U3 and I've experienced a
strange problem where smbd will go (and stay) in the D state. While
waiting for IO (possibly), these smbd processes do not respond to client
requests, thus samba appears to be down. I could not kill these
processes via kill -9 , so I rebooted which worked.
The only error I could see out of the ordinary would be

finding the most frequent row
I am bootstrapping using a function that I have defined. The "Statistic" of the function is an array of 10 numbers. Therefore if I use 1000 replications, the "t" matrix will have 1000 rows each of which is a bootstrap replicate of this 10 number array (10 columns). Is there any easy way in R to determine which row appears the most frequently?

Help with Amelia
Hi
I have used the amelia command from the Amelia R package. this gives me a number
of imputed datasets.
This may be a silly question, but i am not a statistician, but I am not sure how
to combine these results to obtain the imputed dataset to usse for further
statistical analysis. I have looked through the amelia and zelig manuals but
still can not find the answer. This maybe because I dont

No R 2.15.2 or R 2.15.2 patched version option in bug tracker
When I went to report a (very minor) bug today, I noticed that under the
choices for Version, there was no entry for "R 2.15.2" nor "R 2.15.2
patched". I could not find a contact email for the bug tracker itself,
so I figured the next best place to send this was r-devel. Perhaps
adding new versions to the version choices should also be added to
