CPU utilization for CELT vs. AAC-LC
Hello - I was wondering how CPU intensive CELT is when compared to AAC-LC.
Are there any metrics or analyses available on this topic? Many thanks for
any help!!
Best,
David

One question about comparison between HE-AAC v2 and CELT
Hi ,
I visited celt website. I saw the comparison between AAC-LD with celt. But
how about the HE-AAC? If the scenario is that we limit the bandwidth to
50kbps, will music encoded by HE-AAC v2 be better than CELT? What's HE-AAC
v2's delay?
Thank you very much.
Alex

Linux source-client that can push AAC to icecast2?
looks like a job for liquidsoap!
You can set up a playlist of any kind of audio.
It will encode AAC and AAC+ both have small footprints with better audio
delivery.
I assume you are using mp3 as source because of limited space.
The resampled sound will be no better then the mp3 source and in some
cases will not be so good.
regards

Linux source-client that can push AAC to icecast2?
Hi all, I set up ezstream to read a playlist.m3u file containing only MP3 encoded songs (to shuffle continuously) and push this to icecast2. This works, and I can also reencode to a lower bitrate.
I would like to know if there is a way to reencode these MP3s into AAC-LC 128kpbs and then push the stream to icecast2. I'm doing this on a VM with only terminal access and no audio hardware, so

aac and tag editing
As my iphone will not play nice with open source audio formats I'm
forced to use aac.
I have faac and produce .aac files that seems to play fine with Amarok
but no tags.
I usually use Easytag (from rpmforge) to deal with metadata on audio
files, but despite the advertised ability to do mp4/aac it does not even
show the files......
Anyone have any experience or pointers as to how I get the

Is one source AAC-LC (standard AAC) and the other HE-AAC v2 (AAC+)?
There are three variants of AAC:
AAC-LC
HE-AAC (= AAC-LC with SBR)
HE-AAC v2 (=

Hi Paul,
Thank you for the information. I already try a player to discover the stream type of both streams if the are the same.
But i can not find out, so i must check the encoders by my self.
First I wil try one pc encoder to stream to both mountpoint so i am sure the encoder are the same aac type en bitrate.
I will keep you informed of the result

CELT question
Hello,
I want to use the CELT codec in an embedded solution. For the embedded
solution, the processor speed is of great importance.
In the documentation (the presentation of Dr. Jean-Marc Valin, Gregory
Maxwell and Dr. Timothy B. Terriberry) the CELT LC (low complexity) mode
is mentionned. The LC mode should use half the memory recources and half
the MIPS.
My question is how to tell the CELT

Streaming AAC with libshout?
Thomas, it is a bit ridiculous, to be honest. If whole open source
community have been thinking like this none of the linux distros would have
ever had any multimedia player that is usable by regular user because all
of the would have been supporting only Vorbis and Theora. For me, one of
the best things in open source is its interoperability, not that it is a
ghetto.
And you won't reverse

Opus vs AAC (endurance test)
Opus is specifically designed to survive tandeming but you need to keep the
frames aligned and not mess with the gain, which your tools probably do not
do.

fixed point code
Hi,
I am looking into fixed-point code of the CELT decoder for real-time application. Here are some questions..
[1] array, window[]
The array, window[] is being initialized from a function below in modes.c. This array is being initialized differently for the decoder, depending on frame size and sampling freq. of the bitstream ..
Could you provide us with fixed-point code for initialization of

vorbis ogg vs. aac
Standard AAC is on a par with Ogg Vorbis in my opinion, but it depends
what type of encoder you are using as there are several. The only
"free" encoder I know of doesn't use all the AAC techniques to provide
the best sound quality and is worse than OV.
The thread I started the other day was about AACPlus and not AAC.
AACPlus provides much improved sound quality over standard

vorbis is dying? [aac is taking over?]
Hey,
It seems that ogg/vorbis is being slowly forgotten..
It used to have really alot of attention from all around, and it was
the "the" coolest thing !
Now people barely talk about it, most of them now talk about AAC and
how superior it is both in low and high bitrates.
I know that there have been discussions about vorbis 1.01 and 1.1, but
as time passes by we hear no news.

icecast2.2 and aac?
ICecast i capable of sorts of streams, that is not your problem.
Your stream source client (DSP) is the part who must be capable of streaming the format you want.
For AAC use oddcast DSP www.oddsock.org capabale of AAC, LAME Mp3, and OGG (Free to use) very good at OGG specially with the vorbis 1.1 aoTuVb3 DLLs
For AAC Plus (HE_AAC) use Orban opticodec for PC (witch is capable of every bitrate
