What is the relation of CELT and SPEEX?
Hi Jean-Marc,
I got to this mailing list while trying to use the latest SPEEX version
(1.2rc1) VAD capabilities.
I had difficulties to successfully distinguish speech from non speech on
recorded files (probably doing something wrong).
Digging into the code I found out a remark saying :"*The VAD has been
replaced by a hack pending a complete rewrite*".
In search for answer I found out

It seems the current version of celt in git has an experimental Ogg mapping ...

CELT 0.6.0 released, submitted as IETF draft
Hi everyone,
I'm pleased to announce version 0.6.0 of CELT, with many quality
improvements. This includes better stereo coupling, better handling of
transients, and better handling of highly tonal signals. In addition,
packet loss robustness has been improved through the optional use of
independent (intra) frames. CELT now supports a larger dynamic range,
suitable for encoding 24-bit audio

Experimental release of Ghost/CELT 0.0.1
Hi everyone,
I've just made the first public release of some new *experimental* codec
work I've been doing (part of the vague Ghost project) with help from
Monty and Timothy. This is mainly intended with developers with DSP
knowledge, not for doing anything useful with it (but it does encode and
decode already). Also, the main idea is *not* to replace either Speex or
Vorbis, but to code

CELT sample files
Is it all right to discuss CELT here? I haven't seen any specific
mailing list for it yet.
I would like to ask if someone could provide me one or two sample Ogg
CELT files, so I could test detection in ogginfo. I know CELT content
isn't really supposed to be around as files since it would lose all
the format's latency advantages, but I assume people can create them
if need be.

IAX2 provider in Montreal, Canada
Hi all,
Is there an IAX2 termination provider in Montreal that could offer unlimited
local and possibly long distance calling? Would also like to get a DID in
Montreal if all possible.
Asterisk is so amazing! Thanks to Mark and others, great work!
Thanks
Stephane

Hello,
I am new to this list. Pardon my dropping by like this. I regularly use
VoIP devices for residential/small office use, so far involving small
setups (1-3 devices) like the ATA-286 or S2K. I also have Primus
TalkBroadband service and have been experimenting/evaluating offering
some options to my customers.

CELT 0.8.0 is out
Hi everyone,
Just wanted to let you know that 0.8.0 is out. You can get it from the
usual place and here's the small notes that go with it:
"CELT 0.8.0 brings quality improvements for high bit-rates and for
transients in general. It also adds the possibility of changing the
frame size dynamically, which requires a minor change in the API. At
last, the new PLC algorithm from 0.7.1 is

Porting CELt to the C5505
Hi,
I am an applications engineer for Texas Instruments in the UK. I am trying to port the CELT codec to the C5505, this has HW accelerated FFT engine (http://focus.ti.com/docs/prod/folders/print/tms320vc5505.html).
I am having problems with the stack allocation. Do you have any reference code that compiles for the C55x under CCS (code composer studio)?

CELT license
I too would like to know the status of the opus IP holders. From what
I've seen on the CELT and opus lists, it seems that the CELT part of
opus is covered by patents from Xiph and Broadcom, and the SILK part of
opus is covered by the rest. All of the IP holders except Qualcomm and
Huawei have released their patents to the public as far as opus is
concerned, and the general consensus from
