nss_pam against centos-ds fails for non-root users
Hi all,
I'm new to LDAP and want to use nss_ldap (version 253) against a centos
directory server (version 8.1.0) running on the same host. The great
mystery is, that as root everything works find, but as any other local
user, it does not:
root$ getent passwd
[...]
ldap:x:55:55:LDAP User:/var/lib/ldap:/bin/false
ns:*:4000:4000:Nicolai Stange:/home/ns:/bin/bash
root$ su some_local_user -

CentOS-DS Configuration/Setup Issue
All,
I'm running CentOS 5.4 and I've installed the CentOS Directory Server by
running yum -y install centos-ds* without any errors. But as soon as I
attempt to run the setup I get the following:
[root at jpdsys3 ~]# /usr/sbin/setup-ds-admin.pl
Can't locate Setup.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/lib64/dirsrv/perl

LDAP howto using ds-base and ds-admin and related consoles
Hi,
I have previously used openLDAP and read many of their howto documents
for establishing an LDAP server.
RH and CentOS provide <brand>-ds-base and related rpms and I like what I
see and read about the product.
I found the wiki article on installing the rpms and getting it running
on a server - so far so good.
Then I fall into a big hole.
What are the key items that need to be put in

Extend schema on CentOS directory server
Currently I am running freeradius with an openldap backend, I am looking to move to the CentOS directory server.
The problem I am running into is that none of the RADIUS attributes I require are in the schema. My question is how do I update the schema with the needed freeradius attributes?
is it as easy as taking the openldap.schema file that freeradius provides and renaming it to something like

No UID associated with this user name
Hi sorry if this is the wrong place to post but I'm not sure where to
go to and I'm a bit desperate.
We just brought our Sunfire 6800 server and Storedge 9960 RAID array
Solaris 8 back up after some maintenance and everything came back up
'clean' but I cannot get our SAMBA software to recognise any users or
directories when logging in remotely from an apple or windows box.

problems creating read-only, 'consumer' dirsrv replica
Hello,
I am trying to deploy an additional read-only replica (aka.
'consumer') in a single-master dirsrv environment.
The master, and the other pre-existing consumer servers, are all
'fedora-ds' running on Fedora 7. I'm trying to add a consumer running
on Centos 5.5. Ultimately, I intend to replace the Fedora ds servers
with Centos dirsrv servers.
I'm trying to deploy

Processes launched from rc*.d and ulimit -n
I'm running fedora directory server on some boxes in a multi-master arrangement.
The problem is that when dirsrv is lauched from init (on boot) the maximum number of allowed file descriptors (ulimit -n) is only 4096. That means that the slapd process can only accept ~4k connections, and it needs to accept ~10k or so.
The value for nofile for all users in /etc/security/limits.conf (and

Problems to put dovecot-ldap.conf working
Hi Folks,

I'm having a little trouble to put dovecot authenticating in ldap.

My postfix and saslauthd are authenticating fine.

Here is what I have in my main.cf:

accounts_server_host = $ldap_server_host
accounts_search_base = $ldap_search_base

What t38pt_udptl is ? Explain T.38 in 1.4
Hi,
I would like to improve my understanding of T.38.
1. What T38FAX_VERSION_0 or T38FAX_VERSION_1 in chan_sip.c means ?
voip-info.org implies one has to change values in chan_sip.c to make it
work.
Shall I set T38FAX_VERSION_1 or leave T38FAX_VERSION_0 in
global_t38_capability ?
Source code says "This is default: NO MMR and JBIG trancoding, NO fill bit
removal, transferredTCF TCF, UDP FEC,

Re: Exchange Server in DMZ (i-hacked.com)
Hiya,
My two cents here .. I use a locked down Linux Sendmail relay (use sendmail
null-client feature on any spare old server or PC) in my DMZ to relay Mail
to the exchange server in my local zone. Its sort of the moat you have to
cross over to get at the castle walls and the hot oil dumped on your head
approach.

Re: SpanDSP TXFax and multipage faxes problems (aditional info)
Thanks for the information Lee !
Still, something is still strange to me, since this two Panasonic Fax
machines are receiving at least 20 multi-paged faxes a day (they are in same
office as both Asterisk boxes, and me :) ). Beside that, POTS lines in those
two faxes
are from same PSTN switch as line in X100P in one of Asterisk boxes, and the
ISDN PRI lines in other Asterisk box is from same PSTN

How do I allow traceroute to reach my server? Pings work fine but
traceroute stops at the last hop before my server. If I shut off the
