wine-20041201 and iTunes
Hello,
I've been trying to get iTunes working with wine-20041201 without much
luck. I am trying this
on a Fedora Core 2 machine on AMD64.
The wine install seems to have gone ok, i can start notepad.exe etc
without a problem.
The only application that i will be using on wine will be iTunes(i use
gtkpod, but it is isnt without its own quirks) and i cant seem to get
it to work. I start an

Shared folders with Centos-7 guest in VMware-10 using open-vm-tools
Hi!
Just wondering if anyone has this working ...
Centos-7 guest in VMware-10 host (on Windows-7 :-( )
Out of the box, shared folders and drag&drop do not work although X screen
resolution sensing is fine (ie xrandr reports the resolution of the host
screen as well as the peculiar screen options built-in) and I can Alt-Enter
to full screen quite happily.
I tried Fedora-22 too but did

Netflix
Now that netflix is in Australia, I wouldn't mind giving it a burl. It's
working fine on my fedora-21 lappy with chrome-40 but not on our centos-6
mythtv setup even with chrome-41. I understand the difference might be the
version of NSS - fedora-21 has 3.17 while centos is stuck at 3.16. Other than
that, I'm flumoxed.
Anyone got netflix running on centos-6?
Cheers
Bob

Maybe. Centos-7 would probably do the job but this machine is 32-bit so it's
a non-starter AFAIK.

Bastille-linux
Has anyone got Bastille-linux running on Centos-5.6?
http://bastille-linux.sourceforge.net claims RHEL5 support but I ran
into problems running it on a Centos 5.6 test system.
First I had to "ln -s /usr/lib64/Bastille /usr/lib" just to get it to
run at all. Then I tried faking /etc/redhat-release with
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.6
... but I get this (why would it want

ipod software
i'm new to linux but am an experienced windows user (former ;-) under windows i used a program called Anapod Explorer to manage my ipod nano. it was great. i looked just like windows explorer and all i had to do was drag and drop from folders to my ipod to transfer music. very simple and easy to use. i've looked a few ipod software programs under linux, but nothing comes close to Anapod. i

How to disable font antialiasing?
Hi I was trying to run mu-online, I'm using wine 1.3.10 under kubuntu 10.04
The game installs(with vcrun2005,vcrun2008 and mcf42 from winetricks) But I can't see the fonts.
To see the fonts I read I have to disable anti-aliasing, this was possible in older versions of wine, but for some reasons it was disabled, or moved, any idea on how I can disable anti-aliasing?
It's not a

Thanks for the answer Nick. Now you got me on a chase through FunctionAttrs.cpp
trying to find out what analysis passes "... which answers no to everything", means. :-)

smartctl: is my disc dying?
I've got a 1Tb USB disc that appears to be dying - eg it took about 10 days
(!) to run 'badblocks -nsv /dev/sdc' and it only did less than 2% in that
time. Read access became _really_ slow.
So there's definitely something amiss and I've got it offline.
There's no drama about the content as I have other backups and I'm resigned
to junking the thing, but I'm curious

Looking for some recommendations for applications on CentOS (MP3, FTP)
Last time I asked for some recommendations on this list, I was told
about some great software that I hadn't been able to find myself, so I'd
like to ask again.
I've been having a hard time finding software that satisfies in the
following 2 areas:
1. MP3 player and play list manager. Something that can ideally
generate smart playlists based on MP3 tags.
(I've tried XMMS, Amarok,

squares instead of font characters since wine-0.9.13
do you know why when running wine-0.9.13 and all later versions of
wine,
finale displays squares instead of font characters
and when running wine 0.9.12 everything displays ok?
I have checked with wine versions that I have compiled from source on
mandrake 10.0. The wine directory was left without any changes.
thanks

SuSE 9.2 - Browsing Windows Network
I installed SuSE 9.2 on a development workstation over the weekend. After
the install completed, I was able to view my network, both at home and at
work (via VPN), with no problems. I later updated my Samba installation to
3.0.9 and that seemed to break my ability to browse the network. I
downgraded Samba back to the original 3.0.7 that loaded in the original
install, but that didn't make

daemon user can't acess file while nobody user can.
I have a server where /home is on a nfs. I installed an apache (my compile)
server. By default, it runs as daemon. That user can't acces files in
/home/*/public_html, while the nobody user can. So if I change my apache
config, it now can.
/home is : drwxr-xr-x
/home/user is : drwxr-xr-x
/home/user/public_html is : drwxr-xr-x
selinux is disabled.
In the error log of apache I get :
