Centos 5 live cd?
It seems that the live cd for 5 is no longer in existence. Is this an oversight or by design? http://wiki.centos.org/Manuals/ReleaseNotes/CentOSLiveCD5.6 -Jason -- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- - - - Jason Pyeron PD Inc. http://www.pdinc.us - - Principal Consultant

CentOS 6 - Does EFI have an impact beyond the boot sequence?
Hello, I am using an up to date CentOS 6 x86_64 laptop (Thinkpad X220t) and after struggling a bit I could install it a few months ago with a pure EFI boot. However, I am not really satisfied with such things as stability, power consumption, etc. and now that I have a little more time I want to investigate these issues thoroughly. So, my questions are: - Does EFI impacts other things than the

XEN or KVM - performance/stability/security?
Hi all. I am currently building a small test cloud based on Eucalyptus 2.0.3 and CentOS 5.8 x64. I have a choice which hypervisor to use: KVM or XEN. KVM is the default in CentOS 6 but I have read also many good things (for example PV guest machines, isolation between Dom0 and DomU) about XEN. Key factors from my opint of view are: - stability (which one runs more smoothly on CentOS?) -

Package lists for Cloud images
hi Guys, As we get ready to start publishing Cloud Images ( or rather images consumable in various virt platforms, including public and private clouds ) - it would be great to have a baseline package manifest worked out. What / how many images should we build. At this time we were thinking of doing : - CentOS-5 32bit minimal - CentOS-6 32bit minimal - CentOS-5 64bit minimal - CentOS-6 64bit

OpenNebula on CentOS-6
hi, Some of you might have seen the email on the centos-devel list, for the rest I just wanted to point out that we've been working on getting opennebula ( http://www.opennebula.org/ ) rpms and contextualised images for opennebula available with a very low barrier to entry for CentOS. The 'win' with OpenNebula is that its easy to install, easy to get going, scales well and mostly

hardware isues
I have a broadcom bcm5722 and a dual intel pro/1000 pt nic in a dell t110. The setup sees the cards and i put them into automatic mode. After the install no cards are detected at all. Astaro 8.01 detects and utilizes all of these cards just fine. I have also tried ubuntu server 10.04 lts and they work fine. I'm curious if this is a bug with Centos 6?

OpenSSL on CentOS 3.4?
I'm running a CentOS 3.4 box. According to yum, the OpenSSL 0.9.7a-33.15 package I have installed is the latest available. A check of the OpenSSL website shows 0.9.7g source being the latest. Is the CentOS 0.9.7a package patched to cover the same isues that the generic 0.9.7 source covers? If not, what's my recourse? Build it by hand? If I need to build it, has anybody crossed that

Installing over network
Hi All, I see that sparc.centos.org does not contain any ISO's so that I can install from CD. How does one install over the internet? I have never done it before. I assume use the boot.iso and make sure that I have DHCP turned on so that I get an IP automatically from my router? Any advice? -Jason

multi-isp and preventing certain traffic on a given connection
I have a multi-isp configuration: CGCO 1 256 main $CGCOIF detect track, balance br-lan,tun0 IGS 2 512 main $IGSIF detect track, fallback br-lan,tun0 where I force SMTP out one of the connections: 512:P br-lan - tcp 25 But the effect of that of course is that if IGS goes down, SMTP will leak out of the CGCO connection. How can I prevent that? Cheers, b.

DNAT problem
Hi All, I use rather old Shorewall 3.2.6 and I know it''s no longer supported. I haven''t been updating the software because it works as intended until now. The problem is a simple DNAT rule. I actually have around 8 DNAT rules and they all work just fine. Here is what I want to achieve. I have a SMTP server in my LAN (lets say address 192.168.1.10). The SMTP daemon listens on
