Well. In the industrial environment you may find everything ranging from

Very slow transfers to Samba on Ubuntu
I mounted a samba volume on XP. XP and Ubuntu are connected over 100Mbps
ethernet (router).
I am writing a 4GB file from XP to Ubuntu and the transfer is extremely slow
: only around 1-1.5 MB/s.
This is not a network or disk issue since at the same time this transfer is
gonig on, I can scp the same file from XP to Ubuntu at 3-4 times faster
(around 6MB/s).
What could be wrong? Even for this

quite dramatic and sudden problem...
Hi all
I'm running since a couple of years a samba ver 3.0.33-3.29.el5_6.2
On a Red Hat 5 with kernel 2.6.18.
Samba is member of a domain, with short name BNNAS03; some shares are
using domain users, some are anonymous, open to a list of IPs.
Suddenly is happening that, from my win7 computer is all ok if I call is
with
\\bnnas03
I see all shares, I can access and so on.
If I call with

After update from 3.5.x to 3.6.23 all printers configured in CUPS they are no longer shared
After update my PDC server from Centos 5.5 to 5.11 and then samba 3.5
to 3.6.22 all work fine, except printers: all CUPS printers shared are
not visible and usable from clients.
If I put manually each printer (like suggest here[1]) into smb.conf,
all printers manually added are visible and usable (this is my
workaround for now).
In smb.conf I have set:
load printers = yes

It's Ubuntu 16 LTS, so it's supported until 2021.

Office documents saved in read-only mode in samba 2.2.7a
I have recently upgraded from samba 2.2.6 to 2.2.7a on a Linux RedHat 8.0
server.
Now I have got a problem with Win2K/XP clients.
When a client saves an excel or word document on a Samba share, it is
automaticaly
saved in read only mode(444), and the owner becomes "root"
Notes:
This doesn't happen if I use the notepad.
The /tmp share works. Files are not saved in read only mode.
