Plotting Data on a Map
Hi: I am practicing with the attached shapefile and was wondering if I can get some help. Haven't used 'rgdal' and 'maptools' much but it appears to be a great way bring map data into R. Please take a look at the comments and let me know if I need to explain better what I am trying to accomplish. library(rgdal) library(maptools) library(ggplot2) dsn="C:/Documents and

Help with lattice graphics
Hi, I like the formatting and the appearance of lattice plots. But I have not succeeded in gettting the right format in my plots with the lattice package in one of my applications. In?the code shown below, I start by constructing a general data frame and show my attempts with the lattice package commands. After that, I use the graphics package and show the kind of plot that I want to get. I would

download/retain text file structure with RCurl/getURL()
Dear list, I'm trying to download a text file directly from the internet using the RCurl package and the command getURL. Duncan Lang graciously helped me solve the first step in this problem using the following command: ################# txtfile <- getURL('ftp://ftp.wcc.nrcs.usda.gov/data/snow/snow_course/table/history/idaho/13e19.txt', ftp.use.epsv = FALSE) #################

Hello! I've got troubles on following thing: As output I need a string like: INPUT_FILENAMES = H:\\AKK_temp\\Modis\\MOD13Q1\\austria\\MOD09Q1.A2008073.h18v04.005.2008083134952.hdf|H:\\AKK_temp\\Modis\\MOD13Q1\\austria\\MOD09Q1.A2008073.h19v04.005.2008082182221.hdf The filenames (dates) are with pathname (wrkdr) and separated with "|". MODISTools Help
1. You should always cc the list unless there is a clear reason not to. 2. You still have failed to follow the posting guide: You say you have difficulty troubleshooting your code, but you have shown us no code. You got an error message that seems explicit, but with neither code nor data, I do not know whether anyone can make sense of it. In any case, I certainly cannot. Cheers, Bert Bert

MODISTools Help
I am using MODIS Tools and am having a lot of difficulty troubleshooting my code. I am a PhD student studying African buffalo in Kruger National Park, South Africa. The study I am currently working on involves a herd of 200 African buffalo caught every six months for 4 years. I am trying to use EVI and NDVI to assess seasonal variation thus I would like mean EVI and NDVI for each observation

And i want to add labels to plot mentioning which color belongs to which data series. p2 <- qplot(corArms, data = data1, geom = "density", adjust=0.4, main="Arms Correlation All") + layer(data=data2, geom="density", adjust=0.4, color=I(2)) + layer(data=data3,

How to generate a list of lists recursively (for bayesm)
Dear all, I need to generate a list of lists as required by the bayesm-package. This means in my application that I have to generate a list which consists of 2000 elements, which are lists themselves: list(list(y1,X1),...,list(y2000,X2000)). The y are vectors and the X are matrices of different dimensions. I tried to solve this problem iteratively by the following code, but received an error

How to speed up int2bin conversion?
Dear R-help members, I'm processing a large amount of MODIS data where quality assessment information is stored as an integer value for each pixel. I have to converted this number to an 8 digit binary flag to get access to the stored quality code (e.g. in2bin(165,8) = 1 0 1 0 0 1 0 1). Unfortunately, I did not manage to find a package providing a fast function to do so. I need to run

providing a samba share without a sign on ?
Hi, I'm trying to provide a share which is completely readable and writable by anyone and everyone without having to authenticate in any way. I've tried several combinations, but still no luck. NT always comes up with "incorrect password or unknown username for \\linuxsamba\publicspace\" It works fine if I use a real username that I fix up in /etc/smbpasswd. But if I want
