Merging multiple columns into one column
Good Evening- I have a dataframe that has 10 columns that has a header and 7306 rows in each column, I want to combine these columns into one. I utilized the stack function but it only returned 3/4 of the data...my code is: where nfcuy_bw is the dataframe with 7305 obs. and 10 variables Once I apply this code I only receive a data frame with 58440 obs. of 2 variables, of which there should be

Removing lower whisker in boxplot to see the effects of the high values
Good Afternoon- I was wanting to alter the boxplot to remove the lower whisker, both the whisker line and staple just on the lower end. Is there a way to do this? As my code is currently: boxplot(log_loads~ind,data=nfmaum, horizontal=TRUE, notch=T, outline=FALSE, whisker=0, main="Maumee River Near Future Climate Scenarios", ylab="Log Load",xlab="Climate Scenarios")

Build package for R 2.0.1 under Windows
This summer I and a colleague built a package for R v 1.9.1 containing C-code under Windows. That only worked for us when R was installed in c:\program files\R. Now I have R v 2.0.1 and the same package won't build. I get the following C:\Program Files\R\rw2001\bin>rcmd check "c:\program files\r\rw2001\src\library\ sag" * checking for working latex ...latex: not found NO * using

Contour plot (level curves)
Hi all, I have a sample of n values from a bivariate distribution (from a MCMC procedure). How could I draw a contour plot of "the joint density" based on that sample ? Sorry if I was not too clear. Thans in advance, Regards, Caio [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Build
Dear helpers! I tried to build a package I have written, and which I have built up to now under R v .1.2.1, Windows 98 and Cygwin. The plan is to migrate to R v 1.5.0, Windows 2000 and Rtools. The package fits the decription of Simple Ports in readme.packages. The command C:\R\rw1050\src\gnuwin32>make pkg-sag gave the output make DLLNM= \ -C C:/R/rw1050/src/library/sag PKG=sag

Recompiling the Kernel for CentOS 6.5
Hi, I am working on CentOS 6.5 which has 2.6.32-431 kernel. I have a problem with my driver and I need to enable Kernel-Memory leak in the kernel for which I will have to recompile the kernel. I get the kernel source tree from the the source rpm for my running kernel from below link- http://vault.centos.org/6.5/updates/Source/SPackages/kernel-2.6.32-431.11.2.el6.src.rpm and I try to build

Device recommendation Salicru
My experience on situations like this is that it is almost always a bad battery.  Once load is removed, the voltage bounced back, and thus you show time/capacity, but it's possible that the sag under load drops you into LB, and causes the shutdown. If the UPS has a battery test, give it a try, or load test the battery external to the UPS if you can - I suspect that the UPS will be fine,

Reverse plot axes with xlim=rev(range(x)) fails with asp=1
Dear R users, I would like to reverse the axes on some xy plots (for example to set the origin at the top left rather than the bottom left). I had planned to use something of the following form: plot(y=y<-c(20,4,5,6),x=x<-c(10,20,30,40),ylim=rev(range(y))) ie reversing ylim to reverse the y axis. This works fine however I also want to use the parameter asp=1 to ensure that equal

plotting multiple lines on single graph ggplot2
Hello everyone I have some data of the following type. 100 200 300 400 500 1.1 1.2 1.3 1.4 1.5 600 700 800 900 1000 1.5 1.7 1.9 2.0 2.4 With plot() and points functions I can plot these 4 lines of data. But I dont know how to do it with qplot or ggplot functions. The scenario is something like this: the hundreds should appear on x-axis and the fractional values of y axis. Thanks alot. MEMON

Masking oceans using polypath
Hi R-help I am trying to mask the ocean from an image plot I have made. Here is some example code: library(mapdata) image(x=110:155, y =-40:-10, z = outer(1:45, 1:30, "+"), xlab = "lon", ylab = "lat") outline <- map("worldHires", plot=FALSE) # returns a list of x/y coords xrange <- range(outline$x, na.rm=TRUE) # get bounding box yrange

help to use ppp in spatial analysis
Hi, i am using spatstat package for spatial data analysis and now i have a problem to create a point pattern. The points are in file "points.txt" (first column for Latitude and second column for Longitude ) and I imported them and separated each columns in two arrays x and y. If I plots x and y ( e.g plot(x,y) ) the result appears in square area without problems and the scale is

bug or bizarre feature?
Hello, I'm running into a very strange problem: > xrange <- c(-2.5,2.5) > xdim <- 100 > mobility <- 0.1 > slope <- 1.16 > urange <- slope*xrange > udim <- max(slope*xdim,5) > du <- (urange[2]-urange[1])/udim > uvec <- urange[1]+(1:udim-0.5)*du > # type dependent weight function > ckern <-

plot() axis problem
This posting just illustrates the problem with plot() x<-1:20 y<-c(1:10,301:310) plot(x,y) xrange<-c(1,10) plot(x,y,xlim=xrange) #uses ylim=range(y) This is the default behaviour of plot() and I think it is not sensible. By default the range of the y axis should span the y values corresponding to the points plotted. In this example the yaxis should span 1-10 rather than 1-310. This does

Beginner Q- dates in the xrange?
Hi all- terribly beginner question here, but I can't figure out how to put dates as the values for my x range in a plot. Example: xrange <- results$current yrange <- results$DIFF plot(xrange, yrange, type="n", xlab="Date", ylab="Differential") lines(results$DIFF, type="l", lwd=1.5, col="red") Where xrange is: > xrange [1]

heavy graphs
Dear R community, I am creating large graphs with hundreds of thousands of datapoints. My usual way for output was pdf, but now I am getting file sizes of >30Mb that do not open well (or at all) in Adobe. Is there a way to reduce the resolution or get rid of overlaying datapoints? Any other idea is also warmly welcome! Thank you and wishing you a good day! Georg. **********************

complex plots using layout()
Dear r-help, I am trying to plot several scatter plots with marginal histograms on one page. Ideally, a page is equally divided into 4 figure regions. Within each figure region, a scatter plot with marginal histograms will be plotted. I followed Dr. Paul Murrell's code released online to successfully plot the scatter plot with marginal histograms. The code applies "layout()" to

stars graphs
Hi listers, A few days ago I posted a question about the use of the stars function on selected lines of a frame. Thanks to two helpers, a closer look at the scale argument allowed to partially solve the problem. Yet I still have a problem with stars. Allow me to explain what I intend to do (sorry for my poor English and the long post): I want to graph an activity index of a fish during the day
