glm: family=exponential() or family=Gamma(alpha=1)?
In glm, is there a way to specify the family to be exponential, or Gamma but with alpha=1? This is required by Dobson Exercise 4.3d, page 48. But without specifying alpha=1, the asnwer is the same as in the book. If reply to the list, please cc me a copy. extracting dispersion parameter from quasipoisson lmer model
Hi, I would like to obtain the dispersion parameter for a quasipoisson model for later use in calculating QAIC values for model comparison.Can anyone suggest a method of how to go about doing this? lmer using quasibinomial family
Dear all, I try to consider overdispersion in a lmer model. But using family=quasibinomial rather than family=binomial seems to change the fit but not the result of an anova test. In addition if we specify test="F" as it is recomanded for glm using quasibinomial, the test remains a Chisq test. Are all tests scaled for dispersion, or none? GLM function with poisson distribution

When to use quasipoisson instead of poisson family
It seems that MASS suggest to judge on the basis of sum(residuals(mode,type="pearson"))/df.residual(mode). My question: Is there any rule of thumb of the cutpoiont value? The paper "On the Use of Corrections for Overdispersion" suggests overdispersion exists if the deviance is at least twice the number of degrees of freedom. Are there any further hints? unexpected result in glm (family=poisson) for data with an only zero response in one factor

I usually use GLMs with a poisson error distribution to find out the differences between my traitments (and to look at other factor effects). Overdispersion in the lmer models
Dear All, I am working with linear mixed-effects models using the lme4 package in R. I created a model using the lmer function including some main effects, a three-way interaction and a random effect. Generalized Estimating Equations and log-likelihood calculation
Hi there, I'm working with clustered data sets and trying to calculate log-likelihood (and/or AIC, AICc) for my models. In using the gee and geese packages one gets Wald test output; but apparently there is no no applicable method for "logLik" (log-likelihood)calculation. Using quasibinomial family in lmer
Dear R-Users, I can't understand the behaviour of quasibinomial in lmer. It doesn't appear to be calculating a scaling parameter, and looks to be reducing the standard errors of fixed effects estimates when overdispersion is present (and when it is not present also)!
