map axis on projected shapefiles
Hi, I have overlayed 2 projected shapefiles using the "plot" function. When I plot them the numbers next to the x-axis ticks are printed in scientific format (e.g. -4e+05, -3e+05,...,), and the problem is these dont match up to the projected point locations I also wish to overlay from my dataset. For example, according to the x-axis ticks the prime meridian (0?) is in totally the

Arcgis in R
Hi all, I am very knew to this R and Arcgis combination. I have already spent days attempting to find my answer but have failed, therefore could you please if possible explain any answers in simple form. I am trying to access Arcgis through R, following a few steps: 1) Set up working directory 2)connect to Python 3) import arcgis- however, when I get to the import stage it comes up with an error

R(D)-COM stat conenctor for ArcGIS
Hi everybody, I heard about "R(D)-COM Stat connector" for ArcGIS, but i am not sure what that is. I did a search in the archive but it seems i am not getting anything back. can anybody explain me what that is, and where i can find more info about it? There is any possibility to run R from inside ArcGIS? there is more than RArcInfo and Shapefile which can

Reading an ArcGIS raster file
Dear members, How can I read and plot an ArcGIS raster file into R ? The file has extension .aux and contains floating point bathymetry data. The purpose is to create a spatial model in R that uses ArcGIS map data. I have managed to read and plot various shape files into my R project, but I am stuck with this now. I am new to this list and also to R, so any help would be much appreciated. Many

nndist R vs. ArcGIS
Can anyone tell me why I would get different average nearest neighbor values for the same set of coordinates between ArcGIS 10 and R? Sometimes the difference in distance is over 1.3 km. Problems of exporting raster to ArcGIS
Hello: I am using R raster package to replace ArcGIS when processing multiple shp files. However, when I export R raster back to ArcGIS, it couldn't recognize R raster file correctly. For example, I used {raster} package and got a RasterLayer as followed. class : RasterLayer dimensions : 8280, 18480, 153014400 (nrow, ncol, ncell) resolution : 0.008333334, 0.008333334 (x, y)

produce a map in ARCGIS from a GAM output
Hi, I am trying to predict the habitat suitability of lobster with GAMs. I need to produce a map in ArcGis of the predicted densities. I did some search and the function predict.gam seems to do the job. Is this the right way to do it? when you apply the function you get the predicted values (different from your input data points) but I do not understand what is the procedure with the spatial

EMM: how to make forecast using EMM methods?
Hi all, We followed some books and sample codes and did some EMM estimation, only to find it won't be able to generate forecast. This is because in the stochastic volatility models we are estimating, the volatilities are latent variables, and we want to forecast 1-step ahead or h-step ahead volatilities. So it is nice to have the system estimated, but we couldn't get it to forecast at

rgdal: Convert ESRI ArcGis geo database (gdb directory) to geojson, or shapefile map
Hello, I have an ESRI ArGis geo database directory which I would like to convert to geojson or a shape file (or anything else that I can read into R). Unfortunately that does not work out of the box with rgdal, because it does not come with the fileGDB or openfileGDB driver. I could successfully install gdal and the fileGDB driver/extension, but it seems that i can use gdal only to convert the

Mysterious issues with reading text files from R in ArcGIS and Excel
It seems within the last ~3 months Ive been having issues with writing text or csv files from a R data frame.  The problem is multifold and it is hard to filter  out what is going on and where the problem is.  So, Im hoping someone else has come across this and may provide insight.   My current settings for R: R version 2.15.2 (2012-10-26) Platform: x86_64-w64-mingw32/x64 (64-bit) locale: [1]

prcomp: where do sdev values come from?
In the manual page for prcomp(), it says that sdev is "the standard deviations of the principal components (i.e., the square roots of the eigenvalues of the covariance/correlation matrix, though the calculation is actually done with the singular values of the data matrix)." ?However, this is not what I'm finding. ?The values appear to be the standard deviations of a reprojection of

writing polygons/segments to shapefiles (.shp) or other ArCGIS compatible file
I am not sure a previous e-mail reached the list (no mail aknowledgement from R-boundle etc.). The question was how to write polygon or segment coordinates into a shapefile set or any other ArcGIS supported format. The library shapefiles seems to do something but the documentation is a bit beyond of my mind.... and I cannot get the meaning of the functions write**** and its application to the case

R Output and ArcGIS
Dear all, I've been using R on a Mac to process some data for export to ArcMap GIS (which only runs on Windows). ArcMap seems to require tab-delimited data (my data are in 3 columns), so I've been using the sep="\t" argument. However, this resulted in strange end-of-line characters when displayed on a PC. I looked in the write.table help file to find that eol="\r\n"

[PATCH] drm/nouveau/clk: Initial implementation for reclocking NVAA/NVAC
Reclocking of NVAA/NVAC is substantially different from NV50+, enough to justify a separate clock implementation. This code is a forward-port of reclocking code that has been sitting in a branch for a while, and has been tested on my NVAC. Traces show no significant reasons why this shouldn't work on NVAA, but testers are always welcome. And since these are IGPs without dedicated RAM to

Re-projecting geotiff
Dear R users, I'm currently trying to re-project a geotiff in another coordinate system. For instance, I have a tif image in UTM 19 zone which I would like to reproject into UTM 18. I was wondering if it was possible in R. Furthermore, I looked into 'rgdal' package, but I can't really find out if I'm doing the right thing. So far, here is what I'm doing: library(rgdal)

Problems generating image from tiff file
I imported the attached tiff file and converted the coordinate system to long lat and graphed it: californiatiff<- readGDAL("california1.tif") proj4string(californiatiff) > rasterprojection <- spTransform(californiatiff, CRS("+proj=longlat") however, when using the plot command for rasterprojection, I get a blob. I can see the outline of the state of california and

function for cumulative occurrence of elements
Hello, I have a data set with 9700 records, and 7 parameters. The data were collected for a survey of forest communities. Sample plots (1009) and species (139) are included in this data set. I need to determine how species are accumulated as new plots are considered. Basically, I want to develop a species area curve. I've included the first 20 records from the data set. Point
