FW: [Bug 11241] different ids even when idmap.ldb copied. not abug..
Please read the reported bug and bjorn answer.. which does not help any to a solution of fix, or explenation. But the big question now is, does someone somewhere know what bjorn is talking about. i did search for "gencache" but no go here.. just from old documentation. https://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/tdb.html gencache.tdb Generic caching database.

Doubled Quotas on Ubuntu
Hi all, I'm seeing doubled quotas on Windows 7 when connecting to Samba. By doubled, I mean that if I set a 1GB group quota on Linux, I see a 2GB quota on Windows 7. The quotas seem correct with Samba 3.6.19 running on a Linux 2.6.32 kernel on Mandriva; they are incorrect with Samba 3.6.22 on a Linux 3.12 kernel on Ubuntu. What could be wrong? In more detail, I'm testing on both a

FW: [Bug 11241] different ids even when idmap.ldb copied. not abug..
Hello Bj?rn, I can totaly agree with that, having multiple users with the same id isnt what we want, but samba needs at some point root rights, for creating folders/files. Now we have a "chicken and the egg problem" which one comes first? At install of samba files and folders are created, by root. when installed, started samba and now we can assign a uid/gid to Administrator. But

Winbind and case sensitivity (revisited)
Hi I've had a look through the archives and found this discussion on winbind and case sensitivity: http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2004-February/080321.html The issue is that winbind will in some cases return a username capitalized as per the NT database (ie when the user is looked up by uid), and in other cases as per the way the user typed it (ie when the user is looked up by

feature request for setting alternative pidfile
Hi, because of an unsupported combination of configuration parameters for different dovecot services I looked into setting up two dovecot instances with different configurations on the same host. It looks like running two different dovecot instances on the same host is not easily possible because the pidfile seems to be hard-coded and there is no way to tell dovecot to use a different one, right?

Along with the proxy protocol (haproxy_trusted_networks = lb-ip) I had to set login_trusted_networks to 0.0.0.0/0 actually because the proxy

PDC migration: printing trouble.
Hi all, we've been moving an old Samba 2.2.x PDC install to a Samba 3.0.28 PDC install. We copied the ntdrivers.tdb and ntprinters.tdb from to old to the new server. After the migration, everything was just fine, except printing seemed to be somewhat slower. As more and more user logged on, the machine got really sluggish and printing took quite long. We figured out we've got bitten

creation time stamps for ext4 ?
Hi, I would like to know if there are any plans to introduce a creation timestamp in future ext3/4 versions. Having a 4th timestamp saving the creation time would be very good for projekts like Samba for example. It would be important that creation time can also be set manually later on by some system call. Systems like FreeBSD's UFS and Solais' ZFS already support creation times.

Generating .R and .Rd files with Sweave/noweb?
I'm writing a couple of related functions, and I'd like to generate a (single) .R file (containing the function definitions), and separate .Rd files (documenting each function). Would this be possible with Sweave/noewb? Has anyone tried something along this idea? -- Regards, Bj?rn-Helge Mevik

Multiprotocol File Sharing via NFSv4 and Samba
Hi all, are there any non-commercial solutions (apart from solutions like Dell EMC, IBM and NetApp) around that allow to simultaneously access the same file system via NFSv4 and Samba exports in a (nearly) non-conflicting manner, especially w.r.t. to NFSv4/Windows ACL incompatibilities?
