PCs can't login to replacement PDC
I?m still struggling to swap PCs to a replacement PDC.
Is there a way to reset the machine account (trust relationship)
between an existing PC (Windows XP) and a replacement PDC with the
same settings as the original PDC? I think it works if I take the
PC off the domain by setting it to a workgroup and then put it back
onto the domain when connected to the new PDC. However, I?d feel a

Cannot Find Windows Shared Printer
I am running CentOS 7 with Samba version 4.9.1. I have a Windows shared
printer that I cannot set up but I am not sure if this is a CentOS issue
or a Samba issue. When I run the printer setup GUI, it is not able to
find any shared printer. If I run smbclient I get this error:

smbclient -L returns NT_STATUS_REVISION_MISMATCH
Hi all,
Sorry for this question which has certainely already been answered, but
I could not find info in the list nor in the wiki.
From my Debian laptop running testing (samba 4.9.5) and with an empty
smb.conf (I wanted to be sure that only default values are used), I can
not browse shares of a Windows 10 machine (sorry, Thunderbird splits
some lines):

REVISION_MISMATCH
Hi,
I have 2 questions:
1:-------------------------------------------
I installed samba-3.6.7, run the following commands
at client: smbclient -m SMB2 //server/share
at the server side: the smb.conf has "max protocol = SMB2", and I ran smbd
with this smb configuration file using "-s smb.conf"
I also captured some packets. I found the client claims that it can support

Hi Tim,
This is just wild speculation: do You have different versions of Samba
(or smbclient) on the corresponding machines? I run the same on all of
my machines. I think that Kerberos is supposed to be OK. Also I hear
of possible issues with very new versions of SSSD with Samba 4.2.0rcx
due to a winbind(d) conflict.
But the sad truth is, that I lack the competence to be really helpful.

smbclient -L returns NT_STATUS_REVISION_MISMATCH
Shanks for the hint! Very strange that the default is only to use a
deprecated protocol… Anyway, this option has no effect on this issue…

Shared printing between Linux (client) and Windows (server): NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
Thank you for answer.
Logged in as Guest, then went to Security tab. I see `Everyone', it is
given all permissions. Then I went to `Current permissions' tab (I have
localized OS at the moment, so probably it is not correct name) and
typed in `Everyone' and `Guest' as well: all five permission types are
checked.

I have followed the samba4 wikis where most refer to a samna-tool (am

Unable_to_migrate_shares_from_AD_to_file_server
Hi All,
I am trying to migrate shares from my Win2k12 R2 AD
server(SJCLAB2.LOCAL) to Ubuntu 16.04 samba fileserver present in same
domain. Samba version is 4.3.11-Ubuntu.
Before migrating shares I was able to successfully join fileserver to
Active Directory.
Below is my samba server configuration.

Problem with libsmbclient notify
Hello,
I'm trying to use the "notify" API of libsmbclient, testing against a
Samba AD DC. The function is returning with errno=22 (mapped from
NT_STATUS_REVISION_MISMATCH), and I'm getting the following error
message:
smb1cli_req_writev_submit: called for dialect[SMB3_11]

It looks like libsmbclient is, for some reason, using SMB1 but needs

smb2 max credits did not work as expected
Hi, all,
I set smb2 max credits = 70 in smb.conf, but I find more than 200
read requests
were sent to server in 3 seconds, and has no response during this
period. Each read request's
read len is 2MB, and they share the same "credit charge: 32".
I want to restrict the read request number outstanding at the same
time, i.e. client only send read request max to {max credits} before

client min protocol = SMB2
I did not set max protocol to SMB2 in smb.cnf, I don't want to force
SMB2 selection if SMB3 can be used by a client.
The machine is a Windows 7, so is SMB2 compliant.

a new world | smb2
Hi Samba list!
I was very excited that SMB2 is finally working with samba 3.6.0 - great
job!!
I just know that SMB2 has a smaller command set compared to SMB1 and
this, beside
many other rebuilds of the code makes it faster
As I am completely new to the file transfer protocol world, I want to
ask a few basic things:
- is Samba backward compatible ... xp can't use SMB2 as far as I
