smbldap-tools and phpldapadmin
All, I suspect this is OT, or a solution may have been posted. Either way, I beg your indulgence. While I've used Samba for quite a few years, I recently took a stab at using it in an organization I volunteer at to create a PDC, in conjunction with openldap. The good news is it works, for the most part, after some set-up struggles. I have a couple of remaining issues, but let me take them

The server has working BIND 9.9 and ISC-DHCP services running on it. I have provisioned samba 4 to use the BIND_DLZ DNS backend. On the whole things seem to be working. local names are being resolved. phpLDAPAdmin shows the new

Samba4: error in schema?
Hi There seems to be a discrepancy in the s4 schema concerning security groups. Domain Users comes with gidNumber: 100. This is however contrary to what the schema allows. You can show this as follows: Create a new group. samba-tool group add mygroup. Use phpldapadmin to add the gidNumber attribute. There is an error because gidNumber is provided by the posixGroup class and that objectclass is

Apols but would someone please forward some info on this. I want to connect to samba4 and all I can seem to find are results of the now non existent configuration script. I think you might start to find an increase on uptake and the removal might of been premature? Make me happy anyway as confused at the moment. Stuart

Samba4 LDAP password hashes
Hello, I'm running samba4 and I installed phpldapadmin to connect to the samba ldap. When I am logged in as administrator i can't see the password hashes of my users or myself. Does samba need any extra configuration/ compile parameters to view the password hashes? Or does samba has a default "manager" ldap account? Best Regards Tim Vangehugten

GSoC: Weighting Schemes
Hi James, Thanks for clearing doubts I had earlier. >>if we can introduce the variants using optional parameters that default to >>(effectively) 'off' that might be better than distinct ones, Yes, this will definitely be the better approach for introducing the variants of existing weighting functions. Thanks for the suggestion. Next, I will try to come up with a draft of
