Soft CPU lockup error?
Hi I am running Lustre 1.8.1 on Scientific Linux with OFED 1.5. I have been running successfully for a few months, but experienced a serious crash yesterday. Following this, I am able to mount the mgs/mdt and the osts. But, whenever I now try to mount the lustre filesystem on the clients, I get a soft lockup CPU error. Any advice would be sincerely appreciated! Kindest regards! Fourie

Samba4 - Bind Config with DHCP
To those who will eb able to assist, Platform: On Ubuntu 12.04 I have used the latest Git version. I have installed isc-dhcp-server and bind9 from the plain apt repositories and have configured DHCP and BIND9 so that DHCP can update DNS entries via the hmac-md5 as so: key rndc-key { algorithm hmac-md5; secret "XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX==";} allow unknown-clients; use-host-decl-names on;

how to test timeouts? that #returns deprecation again...
I''m writing quite a few specs lately that use Ruby''s Timeout::timeout functionality, making sure that timeout errors are properly handled and everything flows right when some command line tools timeout. I like being able to use Mocha''s #returns right now to force a method to raise a TimeoutError, but I know that usage is going away at some point. I''d like to

CLI program trying to hide characters hangs
I'm running a version of WINE from the repository post 1.1 but before 1.2. The Windows program is IBM's Tivoli command line client program DSMC.EXE. It runs fine with NT 4.0 emulation under wine provided it does not try to hide your input from the console, which it does when prompting for a password. In that case wine and DSMC.EXE between them peg the CPU (roughly a 50/50 split re

Samba & Tivoli Storage Mgr (TSM) Integration Query ???
All, Can anyone confirm that Samba/Solaris will integrate with TSM (Tivoli Storage Manager) when deployed into a Wintel client environment. ie. Solaris/Samba as a TSM client - we need to be sure that the ACL's will be maintained correctly via a TSM backup/restore (full or partial) Or confirm this does not work, which is not what we want to hear - but the truth will suffice. Many thanks,

TSM on ext3
Long back I found that TSM (Tivoli Storage Manager - a backup/archive program sometimes still called by its older name of ADSM) didn't handle ext3 filesystems very well, and provided a note with workround for Stephen's documentation. I've just pulled the TSM client version 5.1.0 and one of the announced features is ext3 (and jfs) support. So if you use TSM and upgrade, you can take

BUG: SAMBA 3.5.x and IBM TSM
Hi! I am using SAMBA 3.5.x and it doesn't work with IBM TSM. IBM TSM works properly with SAMBA 3.2.15. Is there any chance to solve this issue in future SAMBA versions? BUG: SAMBA 3.5.x and IBM TSM
Hi, I'm curious if you have any updates regarding this problem. I'm facing exactly the same issue. When I'm trying to make a backup with IBM TSM of a Samba share mounted under Windows, I keep receiving the error message that "required NT privilege is not held". This problem started to appear when I migrated to Samba 3.5.x. With previous Samba versions, IBM TSM was able to

samba GPFS and HSM?
Hi - I was wondering if any of you may be able to point me in the right direction. I am in the process of designing a fairly large fileserver solution in an MS Active directory environment. I have setup and tested ctdb samba, however, after several discussions with a couple of my colleagues, i am now considering a more vanilla flavour of samba. The key features the solution requires are: •

Suspiciously broken filesystem
I appear to have a broken filesystem on this box to the point where I am probably going to rebuild the system since I have lost trust in it.... I was wondering if there was any reasonable postmortum work I could do on it before it gets rebuilt. History is that the laptop has a much mauled partition set on it - initially it came with 100% win2k, I then shrunk that and added linux (a RH71 install

IBM GPFS filesystem
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone might be able to speak about using IBM's GPFS filesystem as a means of storing virtual guests in a clustered environment with CentOS as the nodes and KVM as the hypervisor? I'm looking at using IBM's TSM software for archiving data from disk to tape. This requires buying a license for GPFS which is used in conjunction with TSM but can also be used

[Bridge] SMP vs UNP performance
I was running a frame loss test the other day against an rhel4 smp kernel and a non-smp kernel. I noticed I was getting better numbers when I ran the non-smp kernel. I was surprised by that. Anyone have any insight into this? I am running this with e1000 dirvers. I also ran a test where I ran the smp kernel with hyper threading turned on and off. There, the frame loss numbers were worse when

Undo/reverse zpool create
Hi, If I add an entire disk to a new pool by doing "zpool create", is this reversible? I.e. if there was data on that disk (e.g. it was the sole disk in a zpool in another system) can I get this back or is zpool create destructive? Joubert This message posted from opensolaris.org

[Bridge] skb timestamp set in bridge?
In 2.4, I relied on the skb->stamp to contain the timestamp of when the packet entered the bridge. In 2.6, I don't seem to be seeing this behaviour. Is this correct? If so, what is the best place for me to grab the timestamp of the packet entering the bridge. TIA. --joubert

[LLVMdev] llvm-mc build failure
Dear llvm, Recently (approximately a week ago) Clang and LLVM started to failed at building. Assuming it was my incompetence, I cleared everything and started witha fresh checkout (not that I changed it though). I am on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS 64-Bit. And I configure and compile with CMake. The error message I get at approximatley 66% is as follows: Linking CXX executable ../../bin/llvm-mc

Rsync an offline database?
Is rsync a good way to make a valid copy of offline database files (TSM, in this case) from one xfs filesystem to another? If so, which options should I use? Once again, the database services would be shut down, so the database would be offline.
