Centos box and Cisco 3750 VLAN's
Hello all, I have a CentOS box that has a NIC (eth0) on which I defined 4 VLAN's (counting the NIC itself): eth0, eth0.1, eth0.2 and eht0.3. Initially the Cisco switch was not partitioned into VLAN's which means that the only VLAN running on it was the default one (VLAN 1). I have then played with VLAN's a bit on the switch and at this point have two: VLAN 1 (which is default and can

[Advice] CentOS6 + KVM + bonding + bridging
With the current talk on bonding, I have a few questions of my own. I'm setting up a KVM host with CentOS 6.3 x86_64 on which I'd like to attach the VMs to a bonded interface. My target setup is one where two GigE NICs are bonded and then the KVM bridge interface is attached to the bonded interface. Initially I tried to use the balance-alb mode (mode6), but had little luck (receiving

bonding & vlan - kernel 2.4.18 (RHL7.3)
Hi, Hopefully this won''t be too off-topic (I''ve seen both bonding & vlan mentioned on the list, but not really together). I''ve tried to get bonding (2 x 100Mb EEPro, but will want to try on 1000BaseT) and vlans to work together, but without luck. I can get them working fine (seemingly at least - I didn''t tried bursting on the bonded port) individually.

Nice walkthrough of installing Wine and two database applications
Here's a walkthrough for how to install and run Database Designer for PostgreSQL and Database Designer for MySQL. Every step is screenshotted, including setting up the winehq repository: http://kishkin.blogspot.com/2009/04/there-was-post-at-pasha-golubs-blog.html

Interface bonding?
I'm try to bond a few interfaces together with the hopes of getting increased throughput, and I'm using a cisco Catalyst 2900 as the switch. I've tried using mode 0, 5, and 6 with nothing special on the switch, and mode 4 with some ports "trunked" together (I have a feeling that the "trunking" that the 2900 does is not 802.3ad, as it disabled the ports it saw as

Cent OS 5 server setup walkthrough
I have just finished setting up and configuring a server running CentOS 5 with 2 Xen VMs. This article describes my journey through this, including the problems I faced and there solutions. It documents the installation of CentOS 5, from a single CD, adding software, configuring squid, NFS, Xen, etc and sharing yum cache and lot more! I request everyone to check this out and tell me what should I

Wiki: Omega walkthrough
Finally had a chance to read this - looks great, thanks Jim! I think we can improve it ever so slightly by being a little more explicit at the end: > {{{ > /usr/local/bin/omindex --db /var/lib/omega/data/default > --url /book /var/www/book > }}} [...] > The --url parameter identifies the url prefix that corresponds to > the directory we start indexing from. [Bridge] Bridging and bonding
Hi, I'm trying to setup a bridge with a bonded device (2 links, balance-rr). The problem is that after attaching the bonded device to the bridge the network throughput drops down from 110MB to 100KB. This seems to be due to the MAC address of internal devices of the bridge being seen on the external ports, where the bonded device exists (see also the URLs below). An arp packet from some

Bonding modes
I have a bonded interface running in mode 1 which is active/passive and no issue with this. I need to change it to mode 0 for active/active setup. Does mode 0 is dependent on the switches configuration? My setup is: 2 links from bonded interface is connected to different switches. When I change to mode0 from mode1 , bond0 is not coming up. These are the steps I performed 1) changed to options

walkthrough: Rails 2.0 startup process
I haven’t found a complete big-picture walkthrough for the Rails startup process when I looked for one recently. There are some really useful resources about this but they are for Rails 1.2 and each of them only covers certain parts of the process. Thus, I’ve taken some notes while reading to the Rails code and compiled the following guide from them.

4.5 ALB Bonding Hang on Shutdown
Since I upgraded from 4.4 to 4.5 my system which has 2 sets of ALB bonded interfaces hangs on shutdown while doing an ifdown on these interfaces. Has anyone else seen this issue with 4.5 and bonding? nic bonding
I've just setup nic bonding on our server (DL585-G7 running Centos 5.5 x86_64) as detailed on the wiki: http://wiki.centos.org/TipsAndTricks/BondingInterfaces and all seems fine but from other "howto's" I've seen on the web, they're should be a /proc/net/bond0/info As far as I can see, I don't have one and I'm not sure if it should be there or its absence is a

Pair-bonding on virtualized servers, particularly on CentOS 7
Is anyone out there using pair-bonding on CentOS 7? I'm particularly looking at systems where one VM network port is tied to one bridge, tied to one port on the hypervisor, and one network port on the VM tied to t he other bridge tied to th e other port on the hypervisor, for failover in a VM that can be exposed directly to the local network. I'm also dealing with pair bonding of they

bridging bonded NICs, centos6
Trying to think this through, hope someone can lend a hand. I have 3 eths I want to bond together and that seems simple enough. eth0,1,2 <-> bond0 , though not sure how this would be for multiple ip addresses needed for the virtual machines... perhaps eth:0, eth:1 etc....to bond0:1, bond0:2 ? then I want to bridge to my virtual machines.... I am going to be using virtual machines, each

bonding problem with arp-monitoring
Hello I have two linux machines connected via 2 dsl lines (bonded) 192.168.0.1-eth0-dsl---2Mbit---dsl-eth0-192.168.0.2 ^-eth1-dsl---2Mbit---dsl-eth1-^ so the final figure is something like this: 192.168.0.1-bond0---4Mbit---bond0-192.168.0.2 I can only use arp monitoring for fail checking - if one dsl line fails - automatically use only the other one. I set up everything correctly (i

vlans+bonding+bridging
hi, I have to configure Xen server and DomU''s which should be able to talk to different vlans - depending on services put on DomU''s. I would like to enslave 2 NICs via bond interface. Both NICs are on trunk ports which are configured in the same way, the same native vlan. I don''t know, if I have to add vlans tagging to eth* interfaces then enslave tagged eth*

Xen and bonding on Centos 5.2
Hi folks, I am stuck with a weird phenomenon. I have set up two servers as xen servers with bonded interfaces (mode 1). The bond interface works fine on both servers as long as xen is not used. When using xen's network-bridge script (with netdev=bond0), one server works fine without problems, and the other starts upping and downing the slave interfaces of the bond in a very fast manner

bonding
I four nodes setup to do active-backup bonding and the drivers loaded for the bonded network interfaces vary between tg3 and e100. All interfaces with the e100 driver loaded report errors much like what you see here: bonding: bond0: link status definitely down for interface eth2, disabling it e100: eth2: e100_watchdog: link up, 100Mbps, full-duplex bonding: bond0: link status definitely up for
