howto use kvm-amd on centos 5.1
Is there a way to use kvm-amd on centos 5.1? I dont want to mess with XEN. I want the hardware virtualization that is on my AMD chip. I played with putting 2.6.24 and centos 5.1 on my AMD laptop, got kvm-amd and that works. However I want to put this on my desktop that is running 2.6.18-53.1.14.el5. Is there a way or do I just wave to use 2.6.24 or 25. Thanks, Jerry

compaq r4000 /proc/cpuinfo reports 997 and should be 2400
Hi I have a compaq R4000 with the 2.4GIG AMD 64 bit. 4000+ rated. proc cpuinfo reports cpu Mhz as 997.481 Do I have to run the 64 bit version to have things run correctly? I just have the normal 4.2 loaded at this time. The laptop seems slow for 4000+ as reflected by the cpu Mhz also. Any thoughts on running the 32 bit version of 4.2 vs the 64 bit version of 4.2? Jerry

Compaq V2000 laptop no USB recognized
To continue here with problems on this compaq v2000 laptop, I put kernel source on a USB disk and plugged it into the v2000. NOTHING IS recognized. I tried to manually mount the disk and nothing either... I thought USB was well established.... I thought trying to recompile the kernel for realtek support might get my networking going... App not finding /dev/nvidia0 for /dev/dri/card0 not found on inspiron 8200 with nvidia chipset
I have source for a program that is attempting to open /dev/nvidia0 then on failure open /dev/dri/card0 to get some vsync settings. Neither of those two files is found on my laptop in /dev. Is this because of udev? I cant find anthing in /dev that might be used instead. Any ideas on what to open to read vsync information from X windows? Thanks, Jerry
