pdf, pairs and subfloats
Hi there! I have found a trange problem with getting pairs()-plots to show properly in latex \subfloat environments. If i generate images of these plots with pdf() and include them in subfloats, they will either show up in grayscale, or sometimes the datapoints of the pairplots are missing. Mind you, the PDFs themselves are properly colored and look perfectly fine, both as pdf-image in acrobat

Sweave, ggplot2 and two-page figures
I am using Sweave to generate a document in which ggplot2 figures are embedded. I am using the following code in a particular plot within a subfloat environment: <<qplotARbosreg, echo = FALSE, fig = TRUE>>= print(qplot(bosday2, Arday2, data= arbostimearonlyNArm, colour=factor(bos2), shape=factor(bos2), size=factor(cumARscore), position="jitter", main="Days to BOS by

how to label two figures in the same chunk independently with knitr
Dear R helpers, I am using knitr to run analysis with R and edit my document with Latex. I am wondering whether there is a way to include 2 or more pictures per chunk and being able to refer them in the text independently and eventually whether it is possible to give them different captions. Let me give you an example.Rnw: \documentclass{article} \title{Example} \author{FS} \begin{document}

Share is read-only despite read only = no
The owner of a folder (userid gdunn01) is unable to make any changes to it (rename / delete) through Samba despite being listed as having read/write perms. I'm using winbind for username mapping. SeBackupPrivilege
We're using Samba 3.0.21a-1 on a CentOS 4.2 server (kernel 2.6.9-22.0.2.ELsmp); everything works more or less fine, it's functioning as the PDC with an OpenLDAP back end (setup essentially straight from the Idealx.org playbook), etc. We're trying to mount Windows shares to back them up, and getting "permission denied" errors when trying to read certain files from those

can't create user entries in smbpasswd
Hi all, after installing samba 2.2.5 (on Solaris8 running NIS+) it is not possible to create user entries in smbpasswd. I generated the smbpasswd file by # cat /dev/null | /samba/samba-2.2.5/source/script/mksmbpasswd.sh > /usr/local/samba/private/smbpasswd ----- then tried to create user entry "dummy" in smbpasswd by (user "dummy" exists under NIS+) # smbpasswd -a dummy

Can Sweave be instructed to use the cairo graphics device?
I'm writing a book using Sweave which includes Unicode characters which R's postscript and pdf graphics devices don't handle properly. The cairo graphics device does handle these characters properly. Thus I'd like to be able to instruct Sweave to use cairo (either sometimes or always) to produce graphics when it processes R code. Is this possible? Many thanks, Roger Levy --

R-beta: edit figs with xfig?
Question for R users under unix: Do you ever edit figs created by R using xfig or some other program? I tried to edit a figure with xfig (a program which I find quite horrible by the way) and it said it couldn't read it in. I guess xfig has no capability of reading postscript files? Can anyone tell me how to do it, or perhaps suggest another freeware structured drawing program for use in

Produce HTML reference in knitr using rmd
Hello guys, I'm new to knitr and to R in general. I'm using RStudio and knitr, both the latest version. I am trying to produce an html page with multiple graph, which has a url reference to each of them that bring us lower on the page. For those produce separately it is pretty easy, since I just include the html location like I did for graph 1. But in a loop, I am struggling to

Paths in knitr
I'd say it is an expert-only option. If you do not understand what it means, I strongly recommend you not to set it. Similarly, you set the root_dir option and I don't know why you did it, but it is a typo anyway (should be root.dir). A mi también me compila en RStudio en Mac. Parece que el problema no está en el documento. vignette/knitr help
Dear Mick, Note that both knitr and rmarkdown are listed under Suggests: both are required to compile the vignette. Installing rmarkdown should solve the problem. If not, please provide more information. OS, R version, digest version, ... Best regards, ir.
