Allow self password change using LDAP(s) with Samba4
Hi
Thanks all for your responses. The users can now change their own password
adding and removing the unicodePwd attribute, using the correct method to
generate the password value.
Now, I have a problem, because the users who have the option to force to
change the password in the next login checked, can't bind to the LDAP
server in order to change their password. Is there any way to do this,

What does "klist" say? And can you run "kinit" to ensure you have a
valid ticket? One of my

Sync password (with MIT-kerberos server) and migration
Hello, my first post here :-),
For several years, I are using samba 2.0 with local backend for windows
stations and servers.
NIS was our used for Linux stations and servers
Now, LDAP /KERBEROS is replacing NIS and Samba (with ldap backend) will
replace the local backend .
My questions :
1- How can I migrate information form server1 (samba 2) to server2 (samba 3)
? I read the official Samba

Samba as a PDC with LDAP and Kerberos
I've been searching and researching this and I can't seem to find the
answers I'm looking for. I'd like to setup a Samba PDC that Windows
clients will join. The PDC will use an LDAP backend to get authorization
information (username, home directory, etc). The authentication portion
is handled by an MIT Kerberos KDC. I think I'm real close to having it
all together but I'm

Allow self password change using LDAP(s) with Samba4
Hi all
I am trying to create a webapp to allow users to change their own passwords
in Samba4 (perhaps, also in AD), using LDAP(s). But when I try to modify
the user password using this code:
dn: ........
changetype: modify
replace: unicodePwd
unicodePwd: "Temporal2"
I get this error:
0x32 (Insufficient access; error in module acl: insufficient access rights
during LDB_MODIFY (50))

Resetting a User Password From S3 or S4 Member Server
Is it possible to reset a users password from a member server without
knowing the current password? I was able to do this with S3, though it was
not truly a "member" server - I configured the server in question to have
direct access to OpenLDAP in smb.conf. I have a member server joined to my
S4 domain and a user can change his or her own password via passwd, kpasswd
or smbpasswd,

Typing the right password. The password is still the old one and expired.
The password doesn't even change when

Allow self password change using LDAP(s) with Samba4
Hi Juan,
you can use the 'kpasswd' utility:
kpasswd user at YOUR.REALM
It can be run as unprivileged user.
It first prompts you for your old password and the twice for the new
password.
Cheers,
Roel

Unable to join domain when DC firewall is active
I'm unable to join my computer to the domain.
On the domain controller, initially I only had firewall-cmd --permanent
--add-service=samba but that didn't work. The computer couldn't join but
when I turned off the firewall all-together I was able to join.
I then tried firewall-cmd --permanent
--add-service={samba,dns,ldap,ldaps,kerberos,kpasswd} but that didn't work
either.
