Samba AD/DC crashed again, third time in as many months
As advised I have begun the process of adding ADCs to this domain and currently have a second samba ADC joined to the domain. I would like to demote the initial ADC and make this secondary ADC the primary as the problematic machine is still crashing and when samba has failed DNS fails across the domain. I'd also like to know if it is possible to create redundancy when using SAMBA_INTERNAL as

Samba4, browselist, nbt and wins
Hi folks, i'am still confused when searching around for samba4 adc, wins and browselist. In my DCs smb.conf I have activated the server service nbt, defined wins support = yes and could not see my domain controller in browselist. Before provision from samba3 with ldap, I renamed the pdc, because the old one had the same name like the domain (was working well over years). Today my

Samba4 on Ubuntu 18.04
I installed two samba ad in replication. One fileserver (domain member) and printserver (domain member). I built a CTDB cluster with it. All are running on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS! On the AD Server i got a problem with the internal DNS from samba because systemd-resolver thought it is the DNS boss now. I disabled systemd-resolve (systemctl disable systemd-resolved.service) and mange the

samba4 dc to adc failover
Hi Samba List! Used samba3 for years, now it's time for samba4 (thanks!!!) Unfortunately I am not familiar with certain microsoft concepts about AD and the roles of domain controllers. I've got three vm's for my experiments: 1) a samba4 domain controller test1.test.local 2) a samba4 additional domain controller test2 joined to my domain test.local. 3) a win7 workstation that is

Samba 2.2.5 DC: problem with groups

Samba AD/DC crashed again, third time in as many months
Answering to previous mail: AD is hearth of infrastructure. That's where all accounts are stored. That last affirmation implies few times after you start deploying AD most of your IT infrastructure depends on AD (all applications need accounts, they are in AD, no AD, no accounts, nothing work) and that you take security in consideration and that you do that seriously: an attacker with

Samba4 on Ubuntu 18.04
I was trying to get Samba4 [as a DC] setup on Ubuntu 18.04 However, I'm having quite a lot of difficulty. Has anyone successfully setup a samba4/adc on Ububtu 18.04 - and if so, have a quick walk-through. It would save me a lot of time, I expect. [Yeah, I know 18.04 has been out all of a week, but someone has to go first!] TIA -Greg

Samba 2.2.5 & Domain Administrator
Although I will be updating this server to Samba 3.x soon, I have to come up with a quick solution as soon as possible for the following problem: I have a WinXP user which currently is registered as a "User" of WinXP but must be changed to "Domain Admin" in order for some new software which he must use to be operable. Of course giving him the root passwd is definately out of

Samba4 on Ubuntu 18.04
A sort of digest reply... RPvs> Not sure, what is a samba4/adc ??? RPvs> Or do you mean a 'Has anybody joined a Samba DC on Ubuntu 18.04' ? Yes, doing an active directory controller [ADC] not just a workgroup-share. [Though, not "joining" a DC already in existance, but creating a new AD setup.] RPvs> If so, then yes and it was hell What exactly was hellish about it?

[PATCH 10/18] hal2: convert to dma_alloc_noncoherent
Use the new non-coherent DMA API including proper ownership transfers. This also means we can allocate the buffer memory with the proper direction instead of bidirectional.
