no callback on VIR_DOMAIN_EVENT_ID_BALLOON_CHANGE in 0.10.2
I'm trying to track balloon growth after issuing a setmem command to a KVM guest with libvirt 0.10.2 and qemu-kvm 0.12.1.2 on CentOS 6.3. libvirt 0.10.2 was built from tar today and appears to be working fine. The guest is running CentOS 6.3 as well. Using the provided test programs under examples/domain-events/ in C and Python, I'm not seeing VIR_DOMAIN_EVENT_ID_BALLOON_CHANGE ever

Re: Dynamically setting permanent memory libvirt-lxc
Eric, thank you for your response. Virsh memtune, setmaxmem and setmem won't survive a reboot. I'm hoping to find  a solution that can survive reboot.   On Thursday, January 30, 2014 11:36 AM, Eric Blake <eblake@redhat.com> wrote: On 01/30/2014 10:11 AM, mallu mallu wrote: > I'm trying to permanently change memory allocation for a libvirt-lxc domain. virsh reboot problem
I am trying to reboot my virtual machines, running virsh reboot. Then I get the following error: error: this function is not supported by the connection driver: virDomainReboot Searching around I get the impression this should be fixed by now, since the bugs I find are old and resolved. These are the versions I'm running. Linux 2.6.32-131.0.15.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Tue May 10 15:42:40 EDT 2011

LDA vs maildrop... LDA *and* maildrop?
We're considering a move from Courier to Dovecot.? So far, looks like it's not too bad, but the most challenging obstacle is what to do about our local delivery.? Factors: 1. we use a lot of maildrop "features" that are impossible in sieve without piping to an external program (would rather not re-write our working maildrop scripts in another language) 2. would love to try

Dynamically setting permanent memory libvirt-lxc
I'm trying to permanently change memory allocation for a libvirt-lxc domain. So far I tried changing memory in memory.limit_in_bytes under /cgroup/memory/libvirt/lxc/<container>/.  This didn't help. It appears that libvirt is not reading changes in cgroup. My requirements are 1) Be able to dynamically change memory of a LXC domain without reboot 2) The memory change must survive

Broken OS when booting rootfs from 9p share
Hello, I've been trying to boot a VM with the rootfs being a 9P share from the host. The VM OS is centos 7. The OS boots but no services can work and it appears that the authentication system is broken. Now the funny thing is that booting the same OS on the same 9P share manually with Qemu works as expected with a fully functionnal OS... So I'm wondering what could libvirt do that render

Sunflower plot error; how to deal with NA
I suspect the problem stems from the fact that there are a couple of NA values. > sunflowerplot(lastoto, maxear) Error in rep.int(i.multi, number[number > 1]) : invalid number of copies in rep.int() So I used the subset command to get rid of the cases with NA hell<-subset(ChinOtoMayB,is.na(lastoto)==FALSE) Then it worked perfectly sunflowerplot(hell$lastoto, hell$maxear) Is

Unable to connect to console to recently cloned VM's
Hi all. I was using libvirt under Debian squeeze (I guess it was 0.8.3-5+squeeze4 or something similar). I was able to clone machines with below command: sudo virt-clone --connect=qemu:///system -o template -n template_clone -f /var/lib/libvirt/images/template_clone.qcow2 After that I was able to start the VM and connect to the console: sudo virsh console template_clone I recently Installed

Cannot boot libvirt guests with OVMF. Raw qemu-kvm works as expected

Provisioning a i440FX system in virt-manager and attempting to boot results in successful EFI initialization, but the VM exits ungracefully after the bootloader (with F22 and CentOS 7 installer images). There's no really useful information in any of the logs. Using qemu-kvm

virtual drive performance
Hi, I'm investigating a performance issue on a virtualized windows server host that is run on a ubuntu machine via libvirt/qemu. While the host can easily read/write on the raid drive with 100Mmb/s as observable with dd, the virtualized windows server running on that host is barely able to read/write with at most 8Mb/s and averages around 1.4Mb/s. This has grown to the extent that the

Re: Windows Server 2008 - KVM
Hi there! Although the guest has 2GB memory, the windows guest was adjusted to support this. I guess that the LVM is the best choice! I will save all images to other disk and re-build the partition with LVM. Do you recomend to use ext4 or zfs ? - About the apparmor, I have my doubts, I will try to disable and see what will happen! - About the tablet input device, I removed! Some forums say that

Processor usage of qemu process.
I have been using libvirt for a while now with some linux guest installed. And everything has been working great. I've got a nice new (used) HP virtual host with 12 x dual core and 48Gb mem. My Windows servers are getting old, so I found it was time to take the next step and also virtualise my Windows systems. Now I've got two Windows guests on my new host: - A Windows 8.1 which runs a
