Upgrade frim 6.0 to 6.1 crashes on x3850
Hi, After yum update on a Cent OS 6.0 IBM x3850 server to Cent OS 6.1, the kernel crashes on boot. I have googlet a little, and find that others have the same problem and there seems not to be a solution yet. The kernel that crashes is 2.6.32-131.21.1.el6.x86_64. If i boot the prior kernel 2.6.32-71.29.1.el6.x86_64 instead it works! Is it advisable to run the server with kernel

CentOS 6.x, kernel-2.6.32-220.7.1, EC2 and drive enumeration
Hi all, Is anyone successfully running/has succesfully upgraded to 2.6.32-220 from, say, 2.6.32-71.29.1? (i.e. done a normal run-of-the-mill yum update on, say a 6.0 instance all the way up cleanly to 6.2? Reason I ask is that booting into -220 (and I think also into -131 as well) results in a kernel panic for me. Some digging around and the new kernel seems to be enumerating the drives with the

Intel HD graphics & CentOS 6: Error inserting i915
I installed CentOS 6 to Acer 7750 laptop, which has Intel Sandybridge CPU ( i5-2410M) with integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000. By default X won't use intel driver for graphics, but vesa instead, which limits the resolution to 1024x768. I tried to force the use of intel driver by writing a xorg.cof file, but then X doesn't start at all. I updated libdrm and xorg-x11-drv-intel from

Libvirt "tc ingress qdisc" automatically removed by ovs vlan tag setting, how?
With outbound QoS setting in Libvirt XML, libvirt will add a tc ingress qdisc for traffic shaping. Then if you set VLAN tag to that tap device, this qdisc will automatically gone by no reason. Could anyone shed some lights where should I look into? I'm really confused and got no clue here. Thanks! Steps to reproduce -- # virsh start instance-name # virsh dumpxml instance-name ...

ps locking up
I have a client running a CentOS 6.0 machine with cPanel. The machine is fully updated with both cPanel (RELEASE) and the OS. At first, I noticed that after cPanel's dcpumon ran (even once), applications that depend on ps lock up and iowait jumps to around 50%. Load averages start out around 20 when this happens and slowly crawl up into the hundreds. Aside from not being able to run commands

dovecot problem -- not deleting messages from server after downloading them
I recently installed CentOS 6.0 and Dovecot 2.0. My problem is that, when I download emails to my laptop (running Thunderbird), the emails are NOT deleted from my server. They stay there and are downloaded again and again. 8-( The "Leave messages on server" option in Thunderbird is not checked. I have several laptops that used to work when I ran CentOS 5.6 / Dovecot 1.x. I

Quota
hi, I'm having some difficulty understanding the connection between postfix, dovecot and quota. What is the best way to set up quotas? through the file system quota and maildir? Need the dovecot lda working? The postfix needs a patch? I was thinking about setting quotas on file system, then configure Postfix to connect to dovecot-lda. Any suggestion? vmxnet3 patch for CentOS6 kernel?
Hi, Could CentOS kernel keepers apply following patch on current kernel? http://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/95785/ (Current as: 2.6.32-71.29.1.el6.x86_64) With the patch applied, and a ".local" kernel built, I get 30% higher throughput with vmxnet3 in my IP routing node, than when using e1000 "card" at the same. Without the patch, the TCP flow over vmxnet3 driver on a

serial console oddities with CentOS Linux release 6.0 (Final)
It seems as if /etc/inittab has undergone some changes. That doesn't seem to be related to my issues however. I am able to setup the grub.conf ( menu.lst if you like ) to use the serial console ttyS0 at 9600 baud and the usual bits. However I can not actually see the GRUB menu at boot time. I see nothing until the server begins to boot and then I can see everything. However the grub menu is

Flow Control and Port Mirroring Revisited
Hi, Back in October I reported that I noticed a problem whereby flow control breaks down when openvswitch is configured to mirror a port[1]. I have (finally) looked into this further and the problem appears to relate to cloning of skbs, as Jesse Gross originally suspected. More specifically, in do_execute_actions[2] the first n-1 times that an skb needs to be transmitted it is cloned first and

Astricon 2004 links collection
Does anyone have a good list of links to the various presentations at Astricon, specifically one including a link to the performance analysis by those guys from Belgium? I would love to get a closer look at their graphs because it was impossible to read them, and I was pretty close to the front! -- Kristian Kielhofner

Mirror hosting ideas
Hello all, I am interested in personally hosting a mirror for CentOS 5 and 6 (not at home, but in a DC, with the future of going colo whe I have the monetary funds to do so). Would anyone have any recommendations on this and whether or not I should set the cron to use the rsync command or have the rsync command in a batch file and tell cron to execute the batch job. I am thinking the second
