R Interface handholding
Hello,
I need a bit of handholding with R, specifically, with writing
packages for it. I'm a systems programmer, and am, on the request
of several users of our software, working on generating R interfaces.
For starters, I've written the following R function (which compiles):
SEXP myincr(SEXP Rinput)
{ // Returns input integer incremented by one
int input;
SEXP returner;
PROTECT(Rinput =

Callbacks seems to get GCed.
Dear list,
I am trying to implement a publish-subscribe mechanism in for an embedded
R interpreter. But somehow my registered closures seem to get collected by
the GC, even though I have protected them. I have reducted my code to the
following sample. Sorry if it is a little verbose.
The first couple of call of calls still work, but at some point one of the
callbacks (callback1 in my

R_CMethodDef incompatibility (affects R_registerRoutines)
I recently noticed a change between R-3.3.3 and R-3.4.0 in the definition
of the R_CMethodDef struct.
typedef struct {
const char *name;
DL_FUNC fun;
int numArgs;
-
R_NativePrimitiveArgType *types;
- R_NativeArgStyle *styles;
-
} R_CMethodDef;
I suspect this is the reason that packages installed by R-3.4.0 and loaded
into R-3.3.3 will crash the

Accessing C++ code from R
Hi,
I am trying to use existing C++ code from R. I have no problems
compiling C code and using it in R, but with C++ I'm running into
problems.
Here's the compiler output:
Macintosh-10:~/Desktop/dissertation/Model - CPP version/R labguest$
g++ -I/Library/Frameworks/R.framework/Resources/include

Embedding R and registering routines
Hello,
The use of .Call and the like all depend on loading shared libraries and
registering routines from it. Also, .Primitive and .Internal depend on
routines being registered in the R binary. And applications that embed R
can override routines declared in Rinterfac.h, but is there a way for an
application embedding R to register other routines defined in the
application without loading a

Reloading a shared library with dyn.load
Hi,
I'm using dyn.load to load a shared library (compiled from C
code) into R. If I dyn.unload it and then dyn.load it again, I
get an hourglass icon in Rgui (R 1.7.0, Win 2000), and it
just sits there forever. I can't press Escape to stop the
current computation, but I can close Rgui without resorting to
using the Task Manager.
Is it a problem with my use of R_alloc? Do I need

For Loop performance
Hello,
Newbie question and hope you can help .
I have two vector V1 and V2, where length(V2) = length of (V1) * 2;
length(V1) ~ 16,000.
For each member in V1, I need to compare 2 element of V2 for equality
i.e.
for (I in 1:length (V1)) {
if ( v2[i] == v1[i] & v2[i+1]==v1[i] ){
statement_1
statement_2
.
}
}
This for-loop is too slow

function not in load table
Hi,
I apologize for this often/old question. I found some hints but couldn't
solve the problem so far.
I have C functions (incl. the header files) as well as the R wrapper
functions which I want to use for faster calculations. These functions
are included in a R package.
The installation process seems to be ok (no errors). I also can load the
package without errors. But when I call the

IMAP message ID bad for very old message
Hi,
I just noticed that the ordering by message ID when accessing my
email via IMAP is messed up. I'm looking in the INBOX that contains
11757 emails. For some reason a load of emails from 2009 and 2010 are
being listed near the top, for example I have a message with ID 11441
from 2009 where it definitely shouldn't be, its all mixed in with
emails from 2011 there.

S4 initialize methods, unexpected recursive callNextMethod
Hi,
Given a simple three class hierarchy: A <-- B <-- C
I want to define an initialize method for each class such that when I
call new("C", x=5), the initialize methods for A and B are used to
incrementally build the object.
When I do what seems obvious to me using callNextMethod, I get an
infinite recursion. An example follows...

registering Fortran routines in R packages
Dear list,
I?m trying to register Fortran routines in randtoolbox (in srt/init.c file), see https://r-forge.r-project.org/scm/viewvc.php/pkg/randtoolbox/src/init.c?view=markup&root=rmetrics.
Reading https://cran.r-project.org/doc/manuals/r-release/R-exts.html#Registering-native-routines and looking at what is done in stats package, I first thought that the following code will do the job:

The call connections are a blocks like this, one for each of the 9 called C routines.

registering Fortran routines in R packages
Thanks for your email.
I try to change the name in lowercase but it conflicts with a C implementation also named halton. So I rename the C function halton2() and sobol2() while the Fortran function are HALTON() and SOBOL() (I also try lower case in the Fortran code). Unfortunately, it does not help since I get
