special settings for p5B-VM mainboard?
Hi there, I use P5B-VM mainboard with on baord GPU from manufacturer ASUS. Does anybody know if I have to set special settings in wine to play 3D games or older games like ANNO 1503? Especially Anno 1503 can be started but if the details are set to "high" it works very slow. Or could it be that this GPU "Integrated Intel? Graphics Media Accelerator X3000 (Intel? GMA X3000)"

[PATCH -next 0/7] drm: Remove many unnecessary NULL values
The NULL initialization of the pointers assigned by kzalloc() or kunit_kzalloc() first is not necessary, because if the kzalloc() or kunit_kzalloc() failed, the pointers will be assigned NULL, otherwise it works as usual. so remove it. Wait for 5 or just use 4.4?
I'm a relative newbie to all this so pardon me if the following are all stupid questions. Firstly, I'm setting up a web server and gone from planning to use Ubuntu (due to some familiarity as a desktop at home) to CentOS based on recommendations by experienced webhosters. However now that I looked into CentOS, I find myself at a point where it's transitting to a major new version. So

GFS-kernel module - Version Magic Error
Are the RPMs for the latest GFS kernel module GFS-kernel-2.6.9-72.2.0.8 to be used with the version 2.6.9-55.0.9.EL available ? I tried to compile the Source RPMs available from the Red Hat site but the modules can't be loaded because of invalid module format arising from version magic issues. The syslog shows: node0 kernel: gfs: version magic '2.6.9-55.0.9.ELsmp SMP 686 REGPARM

Nouveau and Debian Unstable
I recently compiled the drm and nouveau modules on Debian unstable. All went well until I had to insert the drm module, I recieved to following error: insmod: error inserting 'drm.ko': -1 Unknown symbol in module I have compiled the modules before and I have always gotten this same error. Here is the log of my build: debian:/home/michael/drm# ./autogen.sh --prefix=/usr && make

yum remove <old kernel pkgs> -- wants to remove a ton of stuff
I've got a Centos 4 box at work, where I noticed a pile of old kernels lying around and no longer needed. I did "rpm -qa | grep -y kernel > list" then edited the list to remove from it the newer kernels, then "yum remove `cat list`". Yum has come up with a list of 71 packages it wants to remove, even though there were only 33 kernel-related RPMs in the list. this

Kernel-upgrade breaks forcedeth-driver (CentOS 4)
Hi all, Same system as my previous mail - Asus P5N32-E SLI motherboards, CentOS 4 x86_64. The kernel-supplied forcedeth driver works in kernel-smp-2.6.9-55.0.9.EL (both with and without acpi=off), but after upgrading to kernel-smp-2.6.9-67.0.4.EL, networking does not start. After trying dhcp, ifconfig reports 17 dropped TX packets (all other counters are empty). Ethtool reports the same

I have this old memory that the kernels used are a hodge podge of backports etc. So for a kernel-smp-2.6.9-55.0.9.EL should I use 0.4.10? Quoted from http://ivtvdriver.org/index.php/Download: The latest stable releases can be found here. Currently this is version 0.4.10 for kernels <= 2.6.15, version 0.6.7 for kernel 2.6.16, version 0.7.4 for kernel 2.6.17, version 0.10.6 for kernels >=

bad 1.6.3 striped write performance
Hi, I''m seeing what can only be described as dismal striped write performance from lustre 1.6.3 clients :-/ 1.6.2 and 1.6.1 clients are fine. 1.6.4rc3 clients (from cvs a couple of days ago) are also terrible. the below shows that the OS (centos4.5/5) or fabric (gigE/IB) or lustre version on the servers doesn''t matter - the problem is with the 1.6.3 and 1.6.4rc3 client kernels

Problem with CentOS 5.1 / Xen / Migration : domU time
Hi all, I'm having issue with my Centos 5.1 /Xen installation. I'm having 2 dom0 running 2.6.18-53.1.4.el5xen (x86_64). These two dom0 are connected to a SAN. from my googling around, it doesn't look there is a single motherboard that supports core 2 duo and works without patches or tweaks. is that true? the main thing we want is: core 2 duo support 4g of 800mhz (or better) ram sata gig ether with pxe boot we can live without pata or usb for a while. we've tried intel 965 and asus p5b based boards with various levels of ease of install,

Samba running slow
Hello everyone: Over the past few years I have been a happy samba user, running samba on Redhat / FC platforms. Recently I upgraded hardware, and Samba hasn't been performing well at all.. which makes me sad :-( The new hardware is Asus P5B board with a dual-core intel processor. This board has an onboard Realtek RTL8111/8168B gigabit ethernet controller, which was a hassle to setup.
