mountain lion install, error message
Hi, I have been trying to install R on my mac which is running mountain lion. It is partially working, but one error message I am getting is:
Error in function () : object '.activeModel' not found.
I cannot find anything on this by googling. It appears, for example, when I try to 'add observation statistics to data' under the 'models' menu in R commander.
I wondered

Install Rails 4 correctly on OS X Mountain Lion
After reading several books and tutorials on Rails, I found it difficult
to get a step by step guide to set up Rails on OS X. Most of what I read
is just speeding through the steps and many of them don''t work as
expected for various reasons (no compiler installed, outdated version of
curl, etc). So I wrote a detailed step by step on my blog here:

How to get Puppet Ent Agent for Mac Mountain Lion?
Dear All,
I''m very new to Puppet Enterprise.... I have the following setup so far:
1. Puppet Master (Puppet Ent) on Ubuntu with its own Agent
2. Puppet Agent on MAC Mountain Lion
Everything looked ok but then I noticed this on the MAC (below), which
suggested to me I had the wrong Agent? I''m a little confused on how to get
the Puppet Ent Agent for MAC?

rsync 3-cvs missing prereqs/deps on osx
hi,
as it's been awhile since my last attempts w/ v269, i'm building the
latest rsync3-svs on osx 10.4.8; looking to see what's evolved re:
acls & xattrs support on osx ...
@ build, i note complaint abt a missing yodl2man, which originates with YODL.
YODL, then requires icmake.
as neither is available on osx, it's src build time.
on building debian's icmake (already

[PATCH] configure.ac: Add mandoc as valid formatter
Hi,
On systems that have mandoc installed but are missing an nroff binary,
the configure script will fall back to pre-formatted manual pages
despite the fact that mandoc could be used.
The proposed patch adds mandoc as a valid formatter to configure.ac. As
mandoc supports the -mdoc flag, it can simply be added to the list of
nroff-like binaries.

PATCH: nroff detection wrong, by default uses mantype=cat
Hi,
Just tested the latest snapshot on RHL72 via building RPM's of it.
Nroff detection was wrong, and if no --with-mantype was specified, the
type would always revert to cat. This one-byter fixes it.

man pages won't work
Hi,
I am sorry about this stupid question but after compilation of openssh-2.3.0p1 the manpages were installed but a man ssh gives only unstructured response without underlined lines etc. A nroff -man sshd.8 gives the same output but the contents of the file shows a nroff-format.
Any ideas?
My system is a HP-UX 11.000 with the pam-patch.

single quotes in the manpage
In the manpage, all occurrences of a single quote (or apostrophe) are
preceded by a backslash. This means that these get turned into acute
accents by groff; here's the relevant part of the groff manpage:
\' The acute accent ; same as \(aa. Unescaped: apostrophe, right
quotation mark, single quote (ASCII 0x27).
I think all these backslashes should be removed, as the

nmbd startup fails
Dear all,
I regret that I am very new to this tool from the install side. I have so far altered shares on a running machine only.
I have (thanks to Joss for some help already) installed version 3.4.3 under AIX 6.1 giving it our preferred base directory of /opt/freeware/samba/3.4.3
I have copied over the smb.conf file from the source machine (AIX 5.2 / Samba 2.0.7) and tweaked the content of

rsync-3.0.8: problem with installing man pages when using seperate build dir
Hi all,
there is a little problem when building rsync outside it's source dir with
installing the man pages: they are not found and therefor not installed. The
attached patch fixes this situation.
Kind regards,

Working Compile on OS/X 10.7 (Lion)
I've been trying for sometime to get a working compile on Lion and have had little to no success in getting wine to work correctly. If I compiled wine on 10.6.x and then upgrade to Lion that will work, but a fresh new compile on Lion doesn't seem to work using X-Code 3.2.6 or X-Code 4.1.
So I ask the question... Has anyone got a fresh compile of wine to work on Lion and if so what

Document the removal of the ACL compatibility mode
Wayne,
I noticed that you quietly removed the compatibility mode for sending
ACLs to rsyncs before 2.6.8 in revision 1.169 of acls.diff. It would
be good to document this in the man page. A metapatch to acls.diff
that revises the documentation in rsync.yo is attached; I didn't
regenerate rsync.1 because I don't have yodl 2 set up. Where did you
get the version of yodl 2 that you are

Nroff -> .Rd -> R-ex; html
I am using R 1.2.3 on Linux Mandrake 7.2.
I have a ton of S Nroff help files that end
with source code typified by the following:
Last S statement in an example, e.g. X <- y
..KW models
..KW regression
..WR
When using R RMD Sd2Rd to create the .Rd file I get

R help files -> S-Plus; par('mgp')
Thanks to Brian Ripley I have been using R utilities for
some time for converting S-Plus UNIX nroff help files
to .Rd to .html files. .Rd files seem to be the most
natural format for help files and this format is probably easier
to maintain than nroff, so I would like to start
using .Rd files as my master documentation format
if anyone has a utility for going from .Rd to nroff.
I guess I could

No subject
Hello,
the man pages for openssh-2.3.0p1 look bad on our Tru64 Unix V4.0E
systems.
(Secure Shell) is a program for logging into a remote machine and
for executing commands on a remote machine. It is intended to
replace rlogin and rsh, and provide secure encrypted communica-
tions between two untrusted hosts over an insecure network. X11

OS X LION issue with Samba printing
A user who upgraded to OS X Lion could no longer add the Samba hosted
printers to his system. In this account the user logon rights are
limited by workstation. Checking the Samba logs showed that OS X Lion
was sending "workstation" as the NetBIOS name instead of the
configured NetBIOS name (same as hostname). The configured hostname is
clearly sent to the DHCP server. Once I allowed that

Mac Lion Server as slave
What is the best way to setup a Mac Lion Server as a slave? A Centos 6
server runs nut and controls the UPS. The yum epel install has a
nut-client package that has the minimum required to get monitoring working
(upsmon?)...I was wondering if there was some similar configuration for the
Mac?
Thanks,
Greg

rspec and Lion?
Hey,
Has anyone used rspec and lion much yet?
I''m using the Fuubar instafail formatter, and finding that the entire
output of the spec run is buffered till the script execution stops, at
which point it''s displayed. Not sure why - it may be a failure/feature
of the new Terminal.app ?
Wondered if anyone had seen this?
thanks,
James

celtenc 0.11.1 not generating encoded file on OSX Lion
Hi,
I am running celt 0.11.1 on my mac which is running osx lion. I invoke
celt such as so:
celtenc original.wav output.oga
I do not see any files being encoded, the wave file is stereo 16 bit at
44.1kHz.
Any ideas on why this is not working? I also tried the opus git repo for
the latest sources, but that also does not produce an encoded file.
Thanks
