New Windows 8 RSAT and "OU=Domain Controllers" support?
Hello, We have two DCs. One runs Windows 2003 R2, and the other Samba 4.0.5. Forest functional level is Windows 2000 native. I recently demoted (worked flawlessy now, which was a great relief), rebuilt and re-promoted my Samba 4 DC, as my problems that I posted to this list about two monts were still unresolved (see https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2013-February/171898.html), and I thoght

NT_STATUS_INTERNAL_DB_CORRUPTION messages in log.samba--proper course of action?
Hi all, We've recently migrated from a separate DNS server that was dynamically updated with BIND's update-policy, using a manually generated tkey-gssapi-keytab (plus a second server functioning as an ordinary slave to the first), to BIND9_DLZ. The setup predated Samba's AD DC support and BIND's DLZ support, and was originally established because even though we needed AD, we were

Synchronising password of some AD users with an external LDAP?
I'm in a situation where I should establish an external (i.e. non-AD) LDAP directory for my employer for various web-based authentication purposes. I don't think that Samba--or Windows AD, for that matter--in and itself would be the best tool for this purpose; so far I've been reviewing 389 DS, ApacheDS, OpenDJ and plain old OpenLDAP, but have made no final decision yet. Now however,

Samba 3 member, winbind caching and DC availability
Hello all, I've a box running Samba 3.5.6 (Debian Squeeze) that retrieves its user accounts from AD, using Winbind. The box is receiving incoming mail. Idmap backend is AD, with rfc2307 schema mode. Currently it's only accessing one AD DC, and the MTA on the Samba box is stopped whenever the DC is temporarily offline to prevent rejection of any incoming mail with "user unknown"

Sudden authentication failures, hex dumps in log.samba
In a leap of faith, I decided to relax the iptables rules on our Samba DC (4.0.5) on Wednesday, permitting some of our production clients to actually authenticate against it (in addition to our W2k3R2 DC). After all, there are no replication errors and no errors either in log.samba or Windows event log, so things _should've_ been generally working, and various test clients also have had no

Error with dbcheck after upgrade to 4.10.2
Hi Louis and others, While I cannot speak for the GP, I've had this same problem since I recently (finally!) upgraded to Samba 4.8 (4.8.11). In fact, the very reason I wanted to run dbcheck for was to confirm that Samba still works correctly after upgrading (it does seem to replicate normally, anyway).[1] I've configured Samba with the following switches: --enable-debug --enable-selftest

[LLVMdev] IR optimization pass ideas for backend porting before ISel
Hi LLVMers, I'm writing a LLVM backend for C*Core, an ISA derived from Motorola M*Core. I was wondering if someone wrote some IR level optimization passes for backend porting before ISel, such as an IR transformation from GEP to integer conversion/calculating instructions, and PHI combination. Here's the bubble sorting example. The IR codes below are changed by hand and I try to write

No matter what I do, Mongrel will not write pid files
I have been trying to run mongrel_rails start -e production -p 41740 -P /home/user/railsftpapp/log/mongrel.41740.pid And cluster but it wont make a pid file ! It''s driving me crazy.... ipfw deny or reject - not just a matter of taste?
Hi, I think this is worth a note. It was generally said the decision between deny and reject (aka unreach) could be taken lightly - and most people seem to prefer "deny", which complicates things for an attacker, because packets just vanish without any report and tasks timeout. But from my viewpoint, this argument falls into the category "security by obscurity", and I found

password expires in 10 days no matter what Win2k Sp2 (All critical updates)
No matter who I log in as, I always get the message, Password expires in 10 days. Checking the /etc/shadow file shows that it is set to 99999 which means it shouldn't expire. I am using Samba 2.2.2, Win2k with SP2 and all critical updates. I searched deja news for this problem and I couldn't find anyone else who is having this problem. Not that this matters, here is the log.jweber file

[PATCH] drm/nouveau/xtensa: firmware size needs to be 0x40000 no matter what
The current logic is wrong since we send fw->size >> 8 to the card. Rounding the size up by 0x100 and 0x1000 didn't seem to help, the card still hung, so go back to what the blob does -- 0x40000. Signed-off-by: Ilia Mirkin <imirkin at alum.mit.edu> --- What's currently in the tree causes the card to hang. Looking back at all the patches I sent, I always had the firmware

[LLVMdev] Does block order matter?
In my generator I find it convenient to just attach blocks as I create them, rather than try and maintain some kind of forward flowing order. Does this hinder the optimizers in any way, or will generally any order be okay? -- edA-qa mort-ora-y -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Sign: Please digitally sign your emails. codec order, does it matter
Does the order in which you allow codecs matter? cuz i've found that somethings work better if you allow them in a particular order. Alot of warnings and errors can also be eliminated.

max tnt pri voice channels 56k or 64k, does it matter, selection parameter?
Hi All, We are using MAX TNT to for some T1 PRI interconnects. I'm seeing the voice channels connect at 56K. Does anyone have the DS0 channels connecting at 64K for voice, if so what is the parameter to select 56k or 64k channels? I'm not having any issues that I know of, just wanted to bounce this off the group for a sanity check. Thanks. JR -- JR Richardson Engineering for the

Getting Ruckus to Work (And Internet for that matter)
Hi, I tried installing Ruckus on my Ubuntu (newest version). For those of you not familiar with ruckus, it is like an iTunes thing for College Students which allows us to download music legally. Anyways, once installed, I tried to sign in on it and it said the following: Cannot connect to the Ruckus server: Error: A security error occurred (12175). Please check your firewall settings to verify
