Message "Couldn't verify trusting domain account. Error was NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE" while attempting "net rpc trustdom establish domain_B"
This is a little of a new experience for me, I am a bit of a novice. I
have usually been able to stumble around documentation and other mailing
lists to figure out problems, unfortunately I have struck and issue that
has me going around in circles ...
I have set up a VPN between three locations using openvpn (device = tun

whats normal for samba loging amount
Hi,
I'm running the Debian samba 3.0.10-1 package. I have 'log level = 0'.
However my logcheck is showing a lot of noise from samba. Are the
following messages normal, or do we have a misconfiguration? (We don't
seem to have any problems accessing the shared samba shares):

I've the following error : Doing a node status request to the domain

First time I configure my smb.conf file on a server with the adress

For some raison I have to change this address for another.

The message below is appearing in my log file.
I wonder why nmbd thinks it needs to "do a status request" to that IP
address?
It is another server here but does not run samba.
I have been trying to make is stop this without any luck so far.
Does anyone know how?
Thanks, Bill

Getting rid of old network
I can't get rid of an old network I had configured on my Samba server,
it was PDC on two subnets, and one of those nets are now gone.
Still Samba tries to become PDC on the subnet (192.168.100.10).
So, in my logs I get hundreds of these messages;

Mac Machines taking over Master Browser
For some reason the Macintosh machines on our LAN have started taking
over as master browser without actually providing. Mostly these are
Leopard machines, and one Tiger machine. We had OS Level set to 255 and
that does not seem to make a difference.

samba samba cross subnet browsing
Hi!
I am having some trouble with a samba domain distributed over 2 subnets
(192.168.0.0/23 (supernetted) & 192.168.4.0/24). These subnets are
linked over the internet through a IPSec gateway to gateway (network to
network) connection (i.e. all machines can reach/ping each other on both
subnets). The samba PDC (with LDAP backend) has IP 192.168.0.4 and there
is a BDC (LDAP slave) in

Browsing Problems
Hello.
I've got a Samba server and I'd like it to be master browser and
everything else except domain controller (the customers wants a
workgroup, not a domain).
Lately a Windows 2003 server was added to the net and then I guess it
was removed.
I keep getting messages like the following in the logs:

Performance Increase Suggestions
Hello Everyone,
I have a few users that are complaining about the "slowness" of
copying files to and saving files directly to the Samba server. From my
own recollections, the speed is rather identical to the speed we
experienced on our old Windows NT 4.0 fileserver.
One thing that could be the impetus of this issue is that Samba
is serving up files, for opening and copying from the

hi,
At home I used to have a multihomed server. Now it only has 1 nic.
Since I removed the physical card and its configuration entry from for
the OS, I have this kind of warnings in the logfiles:

Samba 2.2.7a PDC gives errors - HELP!!!
Hi,
I have recently upgraded from an old version of Samba - Pre 2.2 to 2.27a,
running on RH8.0.
My network is setup as follows:
Multiple Samba Servers, each with 2 NIC's
One Server is configured as PDC with WINS.
The other servers are configured as BDC using the PDC for WINS support.
I do not use LDAP or winbindd.
Each user has an entry in /etc/passwd and smbpasswd.

Dis-used ip creating errors in logs & slow XP browsing
I run samba 3.0.1 on a Redhat 9 box. Everything is fine, there are just
two minor points which I would like to fix. Firstly, I am seeing the
following in my logs. It occurs every few hours in
/var/log/samba/log.nmbd and every 10 minutes or so in /var/log/messages:
