R-3.4.3 frequently segfaults on HP-UX 11.31
I've built R-3.4.3 on HP-UX 11.31 with GCC-4.9.2.? However, it segfaults
frequently, and I can't clearly understand why.
Some things work, like

[1] 3
> sum(c(1,2))
[1] 3
> var(c(1,2,3))
[1] 1
Some don't:
> pgamma(1,Inf,Inf)

it's not working.
The short version: I'm trying to get Dovecot 1.2.4 to authenticate
against a customised PAM module. In short, we're using a specialised OTP

problems with java under debian (including the R help page search engine)
Dear List:
this is a problem that affects my use of R under Debian, but is a problem with
using the Java virtual machine. I am turning to this list, since I am hoping
someone might have more experience with trying to figure out why Java does not
work under Debian than I do. I apologize in advance for trying to exploit list
knowledge for a problem that is only tangential to the list.

my_vsnprintf crash on HP-UX
Hi,
sorry for the double post, I stupidly composed this as a reply to an
earlier mail, which causes it to appear in an older thread. Posting
again so it doesn't get lost in the archives:

IMAP. Error in the logs:

samba 4.5.10 :- build issue with multiple libraries due to LINKFLAGS_PYEMBED
Hi All,
I am building samba 4.5.10 in hpux-IA64.
I want all the bin and libraries to have embedded path /opt/samba/lib.
But few of libraries are build with embedded path of /usr/local/lib/hpux32.
On investigating further i found that for above libraries linker is
using LINKFLAGS and LINKFLAGS_PYEMBED.
LINKFLAGS_PYEMBED has '-Wl,/usr/local/lib/hpux32', Which is over riding the

sharing experience - installing R Spatial Views
Hi Guys,
I would like to share my experience when installing the Spatial views
packages for R. I could not install 32 packages which are parts of the
Spatial views, and I use google-search and search to solve ALL those
problems for about 2 days. I hope maybe somebody would benefit from my
experience.
I admitted that I do not have excellent programming skills at all. So,

installing java on ubuntu 11.10 installation
Dear list members,
I am starting to get acquainted with linux on a ubuntu 11.10 installation on an external hard disk. I have just installed R and all the packages available in the r-cran-* list. Now, I would like to get on with the installation of packages like Deducer and Acinonyx. The former requires JGR which in turn requires Java. I have tried to follow the instructions available at the

Compiling R-2.11.1 patched on Ubuntu 10.04 with Optimized GotoBLAS2 libraries
I've attempted to use the optimized GotoBLAS2 library with a freshly
compiled R-2.11.1 patched on 64-bit Ubuntu 10.4. (See details below).
When I run this version of R, the timings are not different than the
original install, and only one core is used in test computations.
Can someone point out my error? Thanks. --Dale

Call for testing: OpenSSH 6.7
Slightly better results this time 'round ... still having non-ec.h build

with --without-pie config option) on RHEL 5 64-bit systems with a
just-built copy of openssl

Error while starting smbd
Hello All,
I have Samba 3.0.23a setup on a HP-UX box. I have also configured Kerberos.
The samba system talks to an Active Directory 2003 system for
authentication. I get the following error message when the smbd service
tries to start. The nmbd and winbindd services start without any errors. I
am not sure if it's just me missing out something, or if it's a bug which
needs a patch. I

Tracing puppet processing for HP-UX user passwords
I have finally gotten Ruby 1.8.7 to compile properly with SSL libraries on
HPUX so now I am fighting how to get puppet to manage passwords.
First I modified the hpux.rb under the providers/user directory to have it
use /usr/sam/lbin/useradd.sam to add users and that worked great right off
the bat. The problem I am having now is that each time puppet runs it does
not seem to be getting the
