Dear List,
I'm trying to install Rcplex on a ubuntu 64 bit machine, and have not been
successful.
After installing cplex latest version from ibm's website (everything as
standard, except
had it installed unto ~/ (the home directory) rather than the default
directory).
i type (from inside the directory where Rcplex_0.3-0.tar.gz is):

Cplex solver and optimization in R
Dear all,
I want to work with R in an optimization problem and I was wondering if
there are any available solvers. I found RCplex package but downloading it,
I get problems. Why? Is it not free? are there any other solvers available?
many thanks!

Installing Rcplex
Hi,
I have tried to install the R package Rcplex on windows xp without success. I have only cplex_studio124.win-x86-32 version.
I have modified the makevars.win file as indicated in the installation guide ( http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/Rcplex/INSTALL ), then I zipped the whole folder to order an installation from a zipped file (utils :menuInstallLocal())
The message I had is

Error, Variable is Missing
Hi, I am writing a function to plot a pdf of a distribution,

temp.fn = function(s){

Xrdp
The VNC server just listens to the appropriate TCP/IP port and then
runs Xvnc which does the actual VNC communication. Ideally I'd be
able to do the same thing for RDP then the daemon doesn't get any more
complicated, and a bug in the RDP layer can't crash the server.
I don't know enough about how NX works but I suspect we could do the
same thing as for VNC and RDP.

optimization problem
Dear R-experts,
this is not a direct R-problem but I hope you can help me anyway.
I would like to minimize || PG-I || over P, where P is a p x p permutation matrix (obtained by permuting the rows and/or columns of the identity matrix), G is a given p x p matrix with full rank and I the identity matrix. ||.|| is the frobenius norm.
Does anyone know an algorithm to solve such a problem? And if

A combinatorial optimization problem: finding the best permutation of a complex vector
Hi,
I have a complex-valued vector X in C^n. Given another complex-valued vector Y in C^n, I want to find a permutation of Y, say, Y*, that minimizes ||X - Y*||, the distance between X and Y*.
Note that this problem can be trivially solved for "Real" vectors, since real numbers possess the ordering property. Complex numbers, however, do not possess this property. Hence the

R and LINGO?
Good Evening
Does anyone in the R-help list have experience writing an R wrapper that interfaces with the commercial packages LINGO and/or LINDO.api from R?
I have a set of nonlinear/mixed integer problems that solve nicely with LINGO but I would like to use R to set the problems up and analyze/plot the solutions dynamaically. I have searched the archives and have not found any R packages that

R- NLP on R but ....
I'll appreciate the help on the following problem:
I solved many Nonlinear programming problems with nonlinear
constraints....Rdonlp is working well but i am unable to get INTEGER data
with nonlinear constraints in Rdonlp. Is it possible to get Integer Values
of parameters in any package of R with nonlinear constraints.

properly reporting compile bugs
A while ago I decided to simply download and install every package on CRAN
(disk space is cheap these days...). In the process, I kept loose track of
which packages generated one or more 'compilation errors' during the install
process (machine runs 64-bit Fedora 8, gcc 4.1 etc. etc). Most of the errors
seemed to occur in packages I have little need for at present, but as a
courtesy, I

Invoking R from PHP/Mysql environment
We have a setup in which we use PHP (with Geeklog as a CMS) as a front end
to MySQL. We plan to use R for offering user driven and automated
statistical analysis of some of the data we obtain. We'll be using the R
interface
to the MySQL database from omegahat (www.omegahat.org) for getting
the data out of the database, but we were wondering if somebody tackled
the problem of how to integrate

R & gams
At office I have been introduced by another company to new, complex energy
forecasting models using gams as the basic software.
I have been told by the company offering the models that gams is specialised
in dealing with huge, hevy-weight linear and non-linear modelling (see an
example in http://www.gams.com/modtype/index.htm) and they say it is almost
the only option for doing it.
I would

gnome 2.12 via yum?
Hello,
I was asked a question regarding centos that i do not know the answer. I
don't use gnome or x on any box i deploy for production use so haven't
checked in to this. CentOS4 comes with gnome 2.8 from what i was told, the
question is is it possible to do an update rpmwise to gnome 2.12 via yum? If
so, what repositories do i need to enable to pull this off and what if any

allowing users to install printers
What is the easiest way to allow normal users to install printers (which
are available through a Samba server)?
Normally, Windows 2000 and XP need to have a printer installed by the
admin first on a given workstation - only the it can be used by the user.
I want to allow the user to install own printers.
Now, when one trises to right click on a printer on a server and

Hosting
Hi
I am using Centos 4.3 to host various web sites that I maintain. I am
finding that I am getting more and more, and I have thought of setting up a
hosting server to make things quicker for my self. I have setup webmin with
virtualmin and it seems to work fine so far. What is everyone else using.
I don't want to invest alot of money, but would like some thing that is

SSH attacks from china
Okay, I have a server connected to the net but have not added fail2ban or
anything on top of my firewall yet.
Thought you guys might get a kick out of this one user, ip is from china,
who has got a heck of a knack for making assumptions on possible usernames.
Enjoy this..., 8000+ attempts. Scroll down for funky ones. I have no root
access enabled on this server and it is pretty bare. Just using

multi file uploader
Hi, all.
I made "multi file uploader" by using scriptaculous. I have seen such
things as "multi file uploader" but mine is a bit different. Just take
a look and I hope this can, somehow, help you develop your websites
better.
