Looking for an image (R 64-bit on Linux 64-bit) on Amazon EC2
I have found an existing image on Amazon EC2 including R. But unfortunately,
it is 32-bit
R on 32-bit Linux.
Does anybody know if there exists an mage (R 64-bit on Linux 64-bit) on
Amazon EC2?
Or how can I install 64-bit R on my own Linux instance there?
Thanks.

Principal Component Analysis
Dear R buddies,
I’m trying to run Principal Component Analysis, package
princomp: http://stat.ethz.ch/R-manual/R-patched/library/stats/html/princomp.html.
My question is: why do I get different results with pca =
princomp (x, cor = TRUE) and pca = princomp (x, cor = FALSE) even when I
standardize variables in my matrix?
Best regards,

Password authentication across sub-nets.
It would appear that Samba <-> Samba across subnets works fine, but Samba
<-> NT is a problem.
Does anybody else concur with this statement?
Specifically, running Samba 1.9.18p10 (Solaris) and directing all password
authenication to an NT server
on a subnet causes the following output in the log file:

grep fixed (?) in 2.14
#This is probably due to my incomplete understanding of grep, but the
below code has been working for some time to

#grep statement has been wrong all along.

table function in a matrix
Hi,
I am trying to get a summary of the counts of different variables for each sample in a matrix of the form "m" below to generate an output as shown. (Ultimately I want to generate a stacked barchart for each sample). I am only able to get the "table" function to work on one sample (column) at a time. Any help appreciated.
Thank you

function on strsplit output
Hi,
I am trying to format some data (example matrix "m" below) for which each data point has 2 associated values separated by a comma.
I want to replace values <3 with "0" to give the example output below.
I have got as far as:
out<-lapply(strsplit(m,","),as.numeric)
Failed to identify anything along the lines of "[out<3]<-0" that works...
Thank

function using values separated by a comma
Hello,
I have a dataframe (tab separated file) which looks like the example below -
two values separated by a comma, and tab separation between each of these.

[2,] 20,5 4,2 10,40 10,0
[3,] 0,11 1,2 120,10 0,0
I would like to calculate the percentage of the smallest number separated by
the comma by:

X-axis labels not displayed when changing ylim
Dear R users,
I am encountering a x axis labeling problem on quite basic plots...
I use the following code which displays the labels on the x-axis with a

ann=FALSE, ylim=c(0,70))

How to Reshuffle a distance object
I would like to randomly shuffle a distance object, such as the one
created by ade4{dist.binary} below. My first attempt, using
sample(jc.dist) creates a shuffled vector, losing the lower triangular
structure of the distance object. How can I Ishuffle the lower
triangular part of a distance matrix without losing the structure?
Thanks. --Dale

I just followed the discussion of the title: minimum from matrix.
I have a similar problem.

subset based on column names and then subset based on the inverse (grep?, or...)
I would like to be able to grab x and y columns out of a dataframe and
then grab all of the columns that are not equal to x or y. I am sure
that I am missing something easy.

Linear Model with curve fitting parameter?
I have a model Q=K*A*(R^r)*(S^s)
A, R, and S are data I have and K is a curve fitting parameter. I
have linearized as
log(Q)=log(K)+log(A)+r*log(R)+s*log(S)
I have taken the log of the data that I have and this is the model
formula without the K part
lm(Q~offset(A)+R+S, data=x)
What is the formula that I should use?
Thanks for all of your help. I can provide a subset of data if necessary.

Samba 4.19 and OpenLDAP
Hello all,
We have been working on the idmap_rfc2307 solution for this. Packet traces on the Samba server and the LDAP server don't show any communication between Samba and the LDAP server at any point. (Configuration below). Samba logs are set at 10 and the error message is consistent:

extract fixed width fields from a string
Hi,
I have a data frame with one column containing string of the form "ABC...|XYZ..."
where ABC etc are fields of 6 alphanumeric characters each
and XYZ etc are fields of 8 alphanumeric characters each;
"|" is a mandatory separator;
I do not know in advance how many fields of each kind will each row contain.
I need to extract these fields from the string.

Hi. I'm trying to plot the ratio of used versus unused bird houses
(coded 1 or 0) versus a continuous environmental gradient (proportion of
urban cover [purban2]) that I would like to convert into bins (0 -

figuring this out. I ran a logistic regression and purban2 ends up
