Console/command line output
Hi all,
I am working on Macos x 10.3 (Panther) to build a package consisting of
C/C++ code that is called from R. In the C/C++-sources I use several
commands to print info to the console:
std::cout << "info" << endl;
and:
Rprintf("info\n");
Both work fine when R is run on the command line but neither works when
running Raqau (I did check the preference boxes

Compilation error on mgcv_1.1-7 on OS X (10.3)
Greetings
I run into a compilation error when updating to mgcv_1.1-7 in R 2.0.0 on
OS X 10.3. Note that other pacakges have compiled nicely.
Some details are given below, but in short it looks like it's seeking for
/usr/local/lib/powerpc-apple-darwin6.8/3.4.2/
which I don't have. But I do have
/usr/lib/gcc/darwin/3.3
i.e a lower version of GCC in a different directory. More

problem with pdf() on Mac Os X
Hello R helpers,
I am quite new as a R user, and even more on a Mac Os. I am running R
under Emacs 21.3.30.5 through ESS.
I have some problems with the pdf() device : when sent to it, plots
don't come out with any
labels, titles or whatever written. I don't have that problem when
plots are sent to X11 or postscript devices.
As pdf is the native format on Mac Os X, i find it sad to

data.frame into vector
Hi
I want to extract a row from a data.frame but I want that object to
be a vector . After trying some different ways I end up always with a
data.frame or with the wrong vector. Any pointers?
x <- data.frame(a = factor(c('a',2,'b')), b = c(4,5,6))
I want to get
"a" "4"
I tried:
as.vector(x[1,])
a b

(resulting in a data.frame even after in my

noncommutative addition: NA+NaN != NaN+NA
Hi guys.
Check this out:

I thought "+" was commutative by definition. What's going on?

heatmap question
I'm having trouble with the heatmap function in R. When I try and
heatmap something, my graphics window does not open. Does anyone
know if this is a glitch in the version of R that I'm using? I've
listed my version of R below, as well as a simple heatmap command.
I'm running the program on a Mac, OS 10 v 10.3.9. Any suggestions??
Thanks!

help("R_LIBS") brings up the wrong help file (PR#10475)
Doing
help("R_LIBS")
brings up a help file (the same one as help(library)),
but the help file doesn't mention R_LIBS.
It does have a link to .libPaths, which does document R_LIBS.
The quickest fix would be for help("R_LIBS") to bring up the .libPaths
help file.

setting the environment variable R_LIBS
Thanks to Peter Dalgaard , I have made some decent progress as far as
getting R to work in linux . I just want to set my environment variable
R_LIBS to /u/etlfs/dev/users/leedsmar/R/library ( in linux ) so that I
can install specific packages. Does anyone know the syntax and in which
file I set this variable ( .Rprofile etc ).
I've looked in the installation manual ( i'm mainly on pg 14

R_LIBS difficulty ?
Hi, R people.
I'm shy reporting this, as a bug in this area sounds very unlikely. Did
I make my tests wrongly? I'm still flaky at all this. Let me dare
nevertheless, who knows, just in case... Please don't kill me! :-)
Not so long ago, I wrote to this list:

setting R_LIBS
Hello,
I'm adding a private library tree in my home directory by adding this to
my ~/.Renviron:
R_LIBS="~/R/library:${R_LIBS}"
so that once in R:
R> cat(Sys.getenv("R_LIBS"), "\n")
~/R/library:/usr/local/lib/R/site-library:/usr/lib/R/site-library:/usr/lib/R/library
Is this the best way to proceed?
Cheers,

Trouble with R CMD check: I can't seem to get dependencies right (maybe I'm using R_LIBS incorrectly?)
Hi there,
I'm in the following directory:
~/Documents/Rstuff/diceFiles/dice_1.1
The directory "dice" is in this directory, with all the usual build
files (DESCRIPTION, NAMESPACE, etc). I'm trying to run the following
command:
R CMD check dice
(where "dice" is the name of the package I'm checking), and I get the following:

Am I using the correct syntax to set a custom R_LIBS when running R

R CMD check not reading R_LIBS from ~/.R/check.Renviron
Dear List,
Further to my earlier email, I note that, for me at least, R CMD check
is *not* reading R_LIBS from ~/.R/check.Renviron on R 2.15.2 patched
(r61228) and R Under Development (r61660). The only way I can get R CMD
check to look for packages in a user-supplied library is by explicitly
exporting R_LIBS set to the relevant directory.
R CMD build *does* read R_LIBS from ~/.R/build.Renviron

Debian Testing: ~/.Renviron seems to not being read (R_LIBS not set)
Hi,
I have Debian Testing running on a Lenovo Thinkpad X1
Carbon (2015, 3rd gen.). I would like to have a package library
independent of the installed R version. Under Ubuntu, I used to
have the following line in ~/.Renviron:
R_LIBS=/usr/local/R/library:/usr/lib/R/site-library This worked
fine and /usr/local/R/library showed up in .libPaths().
However, under Debian (with the same ~/.Renviron),

in my home directory
but cant access any library stored in the /home/wolski/Rpack/?
