Apparent conflict between \Sexpr in Sweave and R2HTML
I have come across an apparent bug in the operation of Sweave. If I
load the package R2HTML then execution of \Sexpr{} in an *.Rnw file no
longer works. The \Sexpr{} code is simply written to the *.tex file.
Below are my *.Rnw file, commands, and output.
The Sweave file, Sweave-test-1_short.Rnw:
% -*- mode: noweb; noweb-default-code-mode: R-mode; -*-

how to use \Sexpr{} with sweave
I'm trying to learn Sweave. So far things are going well with the chunks of code identified by << >>=
But I'm having trouble with the in-line text use of \Sexpr.
Here is a short example .Rnw file:
\documentclass[12pt]{article}
\usepackage[margin=1.25in]{geometry}
\usepackage{graphicx}
\usepackage{Sweave}
\begin{document}
<<test>>=
pnorm(1)

Setting up Xemacs + Sweave
Dear list,
I have tried to setup my Xemacs for use with Sweave, which I indend to learn.
I have followed the instructions in the Sweave FAQ, that is to say, I put
(defun Rnw-mode ()
(require 'ess-noweb)
(noweb-mode)
(if (fboundp 'R-mode)
(setq noweb-default-code-mode 'R-mode)))
(add-to-list 'auto-mode-alist '("\\.Rnw\\'" . Rnw-mode))

Sweave: printing an underscore in the output from an R command
I am working with Sweave and would like to print out into my latex document the result of the R command
version$platform
So what I first tried in my .Rnw document was \Sexpr{print(version$platform)}.
However, the output from this command is the string "x86_64-apple-darwin10.8.0" (without the quotes). This contains an underscore, which is a special character in tex and so I get an error

Sweave: problem with usepackage{C:/PROGRA~1/R/R-27~1.0/share/texmf/Sweave}
R users,
I'm at a loss with a problem considering running .tex files produced
by Sweave. When I run (R 2.7.0):

testfile <- system.file("Sweave", "Sweave-test-1.Rnw", package = "utils")

Can't get Sweave syntax highlighting with Emacs
I can't get Emacs to automatically do syntax highlighting of
Sweave files. I have followed Friedrich's suggestion for code
to insert into my .emacs file. The complete section from my .emacs
file is given below. When I load a *.Snw file, font is white until I press
M-x, then the first code and document chunks get highlighted, but not
the rest of the file. Latex and Noweb menus are

Working comfortably with (X)Emacs + Sweave
Dear List,
I am trying to become more familiar with Sweave at the moment, beacuse
I am convinced that it will eventually make my life easier. However,
I have not found anything relevant in the mail archives about the
following problem.
Both the article in R-News and the Sweave FAQ suggest that Emacs would
be a great development environment for working with Sweave. So far, it
doesn't seem to

Sweave choking on \\ in filename
Dear all,
Sweave chokes when using "\\" in the path to the Rnw file. Using "/"
works fine. The problem is that Eclipse+StatET uses "\\" in the
filename.
And example of the error, traceback and sessionInfo are given below.
Best regards,

Rgui maintains open file handles after Sweave error
Hello Folks,
When I run the document below through sweave, rgui.exe/rsession.exe
leaves a file handle open to the sweave-001.pdf graphic (as verified by
process explorer). Pdflatex.exe then crashes (with a Permission Denied
error) because the graphic file is locked.
This only seems to happen when there is an error in the sweave document.
When there are no errors, no file handles are left open.

editing Sweave files in xemacs with ess (noweb), auctex and reftex
I am having some trouble getting reftex, in particular the bibtex
related features, to work properly in xemacs when editing text in Sweave
files. I have added

(noweb-mode)
(if (fboundp 'R-mode)
(setq noweb-default-code-mode 'R-mode)))
(add-to-list 'auto-mode-alist '("\\.Rnw\\'" . Rnw-mode))

Sweave and Xemacs on Windows2000?
Hallo!
Trying to configure Xemacs to work with .snw files on windows 2000. Tried to do it how it is described in the FAQ for Sweaves.
When starting xemacs with and Snw file
*ESS* buffer contains hundrets of lines and the few last ones.

problem with Sweave on 1.6 on NT4
Hi,
I recently compiled 1.6 on NT4 but
I am having a problem with Sweave.
Using the inbuilt 'Sweave-test-1.Rnw' file as an example:
-------
> library(tools)
> testfile <- file.path(.path.package("tools"),
"Sweave", "Sweave-test-1.Rnw")
## create a LaTeX file

Does anyone use Sweave (RweaveLatex) option "expand=FALSE"?
I am trying to improve the error reporting in Sweave documents, so that
if you have a syntax error in a code chunk, it will tell you which line
of your input file contained the error.
For example, currently you get this:
Error: chunk 1 (label=named)
Error in parse(text = chunk) : unexpected symbol in "x <- foo bar"
Execution halted
and I'd like errors to be more like this:

Editors which have strong/solid support for SWeave?
Greetings!
I have a few colleagues who like the idea of Sweave, but have failed
to become enlightened monks of the One True Editor
(http://www.dina.dk/~abraham/religion/)
Are there any other Microsoft-centric editors or IDEs which have solid
support for writing SWeave documents (dual R / LaTeX enhancements
similar to ESS's support)? Has anyone tried the folding editors which
support Noweb?

Sweave driver extension
Almost all of the coxme package and an increasing amount of the survival
package are now written in noweb, i.e., .Rnw files. It would be nice to
process these using the Sweave function + a special driver, which I can
do using a modified version of Sweave. The primary change is to allow
the following type of construction
<<coxme>>
coxme <- function(formula, data, subset, blah blah

Help With Sweave:

I try to compile the example *.Snw as in the Sweave manual:

thank you, i saw this entry. However, this entry is rather
about how to include documents (in particular Sweave-based)
into a package. But I have meant smth else.
Let me explain in example. Today I use emacs as
environment for my R-sessions. I am quite happy to

Spellchecking Sweave documents
I have been using Aspell on a Linux system, but it doesn't
understand the noweb chunks, which I'd rather it not spellcheck. I
can run it on the generated .tex files, but then changes I make
during the spellcheck will not be propagated back to the original
source. Any suggestions on how to spellcheck Sweave documents?
I see from a search that some people seem to be trying Flyspell on

Sweave in LATEX
Hello
I have been setting up my computer to run Sweave. I have got the whole thing
working on example files, except that my MikTex returns an "Undefined
Control Sequence" error for \Sexpr and my output file contains verbatim code
sequences at the apropriate point in the text rather than the R output. The
rest of the output file is fine with tables, R code sequences and figures in
