Rtools questions
Hello: 1. How can I tell when the development version of Rtools has changed? For the past few years, I've installed the development version of R tools with each new release of R. I encountered problems with this a few days ago, so I rolled back to Rtools212.exe. Unfortunately, I seem to have more problems with that version. My latest install was under Windows 7 Home Edition.

Error in building pdf manual with Rtools
Dear list, I am trying to produce a pdf manual using Rtools (version 3.1.0.1936) on Windows 8 (64-bit). I am also aware of the inconsolata issue posted in the forum (https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-devel/2013-June/066850.html), and then I have installed the patched version of R-3.0.1. However I still have some errors with the following message: R CMD Rd2pdf mypack Hmm ... looks like a package

testing presence of pdflatex in R CMD check
The nodes of our cluster do not have pdflatex installed. When running R CMD check there on a package with no errors in documentation, then R-2.13.0-alpha and R-2.12.2 report a possible error in Rd files, while R-2.11.1 did not. The platform is 64 bit CentOS. The output of R CMD check tree_1.0-28.tar.gz under the above three versions of R contains the following. R-2.11.1 stderr sh:

[R] Somewhat obscure bug in R 3.4.0 building from source
Hi Peter, Duncan & Bert, Thank you kindly for the responses. Indeed, doc/NEWS.pdf is included in the source distribution, and then removed upon "make clean". I thought that it might be useful to report this for your benefit, but on closer inspection it appears that I'm getting errors that arise due to incompatibilities in my texlive and texinfo installations. This is the error

Error using Rd2dvi on OSX
Hi, I run R 2.5.1 on Mac OS 10.4.10 and fail to build a package manual. Below is the transcript. The problem is a "pdflatex: command not found" error but I think that I have a fully working latex install (installed with iInstaller) as I use TeXShop with no problem. Could someone help? Problem with "R CMD Rd2dvi": Rd.sty not found
Hi, I run into a problem with "R CMD Rd2dvi" command: it gives me "File `Rd.sty' not found" error (See the output message on the bottom). I get the same error when running "RCMD check". My system is: Windows 2000, R version 2.0.1, MiKTeX version 2.4. I do have a Rd.sty file in R_HOME/share/texm directory. I looked through newsgroups for any related discussions

Rd2dvi pagination of index in pdf manual
I construct a pdf package manual in Windows 7 using R CMD Rd2dvi --pdf --no-preview [packagename] Page numbers are listed correctly under 'R topics documented' at the front, but incorrectly (offset by -2 pages) in the Index at the back. Following the hyperlinked page numbers in the Index takes you to the wrong page. 2 pages happens to be the length of the package overview man page inserted

Intermediate LaTeX output generated by R CMD Rd2dvi
Is there any way of getting just the LaTex output which R CMD Rd2dvi generates on the way to produces a .dvi file, which could then be incoorporated into another document? texi2dvi: option "clean" also deletes the generated pdf file
Dear expeRts, below are two examples of using texi2dvi. The problem becomes clear from the second example: on cleaning, texi2dvi also deletes the generated .pdf file. Is there a solution? Cheers, Marius ## Example 1: texi2dvi cleans fine, without deleting the generated .pdf require(tools) sink(file="myLaTeXFile1.tex") cat("\\documentclass{article}\n")

texi2dvi / egrep issue shows (a.o.) up in R-alpha
L.S. I noticed weird tools::texi2dvi behaviour on R-alpha when specifying an absolute path to the .tex file. The same phenomenon also appears to occur on R-2.12.2, so maybe the issue is independent of R. I hope I did not overlook any important information. running texi2dvi without running bibtex
Dear all, I was hoping someone may know a way of running texi2dvi while ignoring bibtex errors, or any other work around (such as not running bibtex at all, if possible). The context is that I have an R program that does some calculations and writes a table into various folders, one per country for several countries. I have a latex file that takes the table as an input, and this latex file is
