Problems compiling (configure) R on Ubuntu linux (debian)
Hello!
I would first like to appologice if this question does not fit on this
mailing-list.
I am new to Linux and I tried to compile R on my Ubuntu Warty linux. I
followed the instructions in "R Installation and Administration" manual. It
seams that there was a problem with "configure", since when running "make"
afterward gave me this reply:

newby question: Is there a way to direct streamstoamount point?
Hiya,
There is another plugin which supports mounpoins AFAIK.
http://www.oddsock.org/tools/dsp_oddcast/
Try it.

liveice/lame problem
I've set up Liveice on a Yellowdog Linux laptop (YDL 2.0). I'm trying
to stream to an icecast server on another YDL 2.0 system.
Streaming seems to be fine, but encoding is pure garbage. When I
listen to the stream, it basically sounds like white noise. The
intesity of the hum depends on the strength of the sound being
encoded, though. If I stop playing the CD, it drops to a gentle

Real to MP3
How can I convert Real audio files (.rm) to MP3 files? I know I've
done it before, but I can't get WinAmp to output to the NullSoft MP3
Output Plug-In, which is how I think I did it last time. The file I
want to convert just doesn't seem to play with that output selected.
I get the same result with teh Lame MP3 Writer plug-in.
I use the Tara Audio Video Plugin to read Real media

How to set plot resolution
Hi
I'm want to obtain a plot of 1200dpi tiff format, but I met some difficulty.
Could anybody show me some examples about it?
my code:

tiff(file="shaw.tiff",width=8.6,height=8.6,units="cm",res=1200,pointsize=10)
plot(bal100,type="l",pch=20,col="red",lwd=1.5,axes=F,xlim=c(1,5),ylim=c(0,0.3),ann=F)

lame question.
I think the question is, how do you change /icy_0 to /mystreamname,
or at least /mystreamname_0. I'm guessing it would have to be
somewhere in the source?
I'd love to have some kind of control over stream names, such as
having a particular mount point for a stream from a certain IP
address. I have some macs streaming using MacAmp, and they have no
way to specify mount point.

animated R plots
Hi,
I want to be able to save the following animated plot as a flash. There are ultimately 6 plots, but when I run this and save it as a flash all I get is the last (6th) plot, not all six different plots in order by "year". I’ve tested the flash commands and they work; so it has to be my function code. I am guessing that the problem has something to do with overlaying the plot

newby question: Is there a way to direct streams to a mount point?
Is there a way to direct icecast to associate a stream from a
particular source to a designated mount point?
I've got two different streams I'm encoding that I'd like to make
available on the same server. Currently, I have one going to /icy_0
and the other to /icy_1. That's okay for the moment, but if either
the server or the two encoders reboot, the streams might reconnect in

Users voting
I''m trying to work out the most reasonable way to keep track of users
"voting" for or against a particular bit of data. Obviously, I don''t
want them to be able to just bang on the link -- I''d prefer to limit it
to one vote per day, for example.
I could record the fact that they''ve voted in the session, but I''d
really rather not have

polygon kills X-server (PR#14055)
Full_Name: Ludo Pagie
Version: 2.10.0
OS: linux, ubuntu, 8.04
Submission from: (NULL) (83.163.218.221)
when I make a polygon with 100,000 vertices my X-server is being
killed. This occurs in R-2.9.0 and a freshly installed R-2.10.0
I'm running Ubuntu with a locally compiled R:
