R, VR, and Debian
Hi Folks, A while ago (September 2007) I set up an experimental Debian 4.0 Etch installation, and installed R on it, along with several packages -- including e1071 and the "Bundle" VR -- by means of the Debian package manager. Most of the time, R works fine. But not always. Just now, I wanted to try the code suggested by Johannes H?sing for "Stroparia"'s Multiset

R-beta: problem installing packages
Hello, I have installed Venables & Ripley's VR_5.3pl025-1 in RHOME/library/VR and added the path to my RLIBS environmental variable. In R (0.62.2) typing "library()" lists these packages, but typing e.g. "library(nnet)" gets "Warning: Package 'nnet' contains no R code". It appears to me the code is there and I have checked the permissions and so

RMySQL installed but not availalable
I don't use MySQL but I have seen messages like this before. They often have replies which indicate that you need to follow the instructions more closely. I suggest you search the list for these previous posts as I'm sure there is help there, somewhere! How to see source code of nnet package

Predict.nnet ?
Hi, I have a problem with predict.nnet when I try to use it. It crashes R with a memory access violation. platform Windows arch x86 os Win32 system x86, Win32 status major 1 minor 1.1 year 2000 month August day 15 language R I admit the data set is quite large ~ [3000, 101] and its a 3 class problem. I know that it works fine when there is a single target. I wonder

Problems Building R-2.3.1 on Alpha server ES40 running Tru64 V5.1B PK#5
R Listers, One of the list contributors suggested I abandon attempts to build R-1.9.1 and focus on building R-2.3.1. I believe the main set of packages have been built properly (with some changes to the code) - however, when building the Recommended packages, the build fails. CODE CHANGES: ============= 1. My C compiler requires a ";" on line 589 of ..../src/main/printutils.c. Here

dealing with package bundles (was RE: Gregmisc)
Given the confusions that some users have regarding package bundles, I'd like to suggest some changes to how package bundles are handled. My understanding is that a package bundle is essentially a convenient way to distribute related packages, so that users can download/install them in one shot. However, some users apparently get confused that one can do install.packages("abundle")

question about the dataset fgl
Dear sir or ma'am, I have a question about the dataset "fgl." The dataset seems to be in the "VR" package, so I tried to download it from CRAN. However, after downloading, when I tried to load the package, it was not in my package list. I am wondering what is wrong. Any advice on how to access the fgl dataset would be appreciated. Thanks.
