Wishlist: Navigate to "Index" page of help when no topic specified (PR#13860)
Hi all,
When I install a new package, and don't yet know any function names,
I have to play the "poor man's game" to get to the standard
help system "Index" page for the package:
Poor Man's Game -=20
Load new package;=20
issue search() command;
find position (say N) of loaded package;=20
issue objects(pos =3D N) command;
get name of a random function (san

You could complain to the package author or maintainer, who should have
created a help alias with the package name

help in R 2.9.x for R 2.10.x packages
[Env: Win Xp]
Is there any options() setting or call to help() or help.start() that
will allow me to view a help file for
a package built under R 2.10.x under R 2.9.2?
I'm using both R 2.9.2 and R 2.10.1, but prefer the former because the
CHM help is so much easier
to use. Yet, if I install a package built for R 2.10.x, I can't find
*any* way to display a help file in this
package.

CHM error
Hi,
I would need some help in solving a problem with my R.
Whenever I try to type " ?paste " or in general any command for the html
help in R, I receive this error message. The strange thing is that I have
never had this kind of problem in the past with R, and now I really don't
understand why it says that. Also I have selected every single element in
the installation process.

No CHM file
I just built a package in R (version 2.1.1 on a Linux machine) and then moved it to my computer (R version 2.8.1 on a Windows machine). When I loaded the package and tried to open help for one of the commands, I got the following warning:
Warning message:
In print.help_files_with_topic("F:/R/R-2.8.1/library/REEMtree/chm/RMSE") :

building packages: hhc.exe not found using xp
Hello,
Apologies in advance if this should be in R-devel, not Rhelp. I did read through the R-devel thread started by Gabor Grothendieck in September of this year - I am getting the exact same error using a new computer that has XP installed, not vista, complaining that the file hhc.exe is not found. I have downloaded the hhc.exe to HTML Help Workshop dir in Program Files but it says that

Navigate to Index page of a package from R command prompt
Hi all,
Is there a way to navigate directly to the "Index" page of help
for a package?
Here's my connundrum:
I download and install package "foo".
I don't know what functions are in package "foo",
so I can't invoke the help for package "foo" via
> ?someFunction
help(package = "foo")
pops up some non-hyperlinked information page,

R-help
Hi list,
When I type my question in R console using ? sign (example: ?par, when I
want to query for par), the following error message popps up:
Error in
print.help_files_with_topic("C:/PROGRA~1/R/R-24~1.1/library/maps/chm/map") :
CHM file could not be displayed
I appreciate if any body comes back to me with the solution.

Wishlist for promptPackage / index
Hi R-devels,
would it be possible to enhance either promptPackage()
or the default indexing mechanism for packages
so that -- if it exists -- (the contents of) file
<pkgname>-package.Rd is sorted first in
* the .dvi / .pdf documentation file
* the .chm documentation file
* the package 00index.html documentation file
?
So far I found the following "hand-made" solution

problems with printing and plotting aareg
It's a bug in summary.aareg which no one found until now.
What's wrong:
If dfbeta=TRUE then there is a second estimate of variance calculated, labeled as
test.var2. If maxtime is set, then both estimates of variance need to be recalculated by
the summary routine. An incorrect if-then-else flow led it to look for test.var2 when it
wasn't relevant. My test cases with maxtime also

problems with plotting and printing aareg
Hi all,
I've ventured into the world of nonparametric survival and I would like to use the "maxtime" option for printing and plotting my aareg fit.
However, my fit does not have "test.var2" and this stops the print and plot when adding a maxtime.
My code is as follows:
Response<-Surv(Time,Event)
Model<-aareg(Response~Factor1*Factor2)
