NAMESPACE problem: import(zoo) but 'zoo' could not be loaded
Hello:
I'm having problems creating a real NAMESPACE to replace the pro
forma one in the fda package on R-Forge. "R CMD check" complains,
"Error: package 'zoo' could not be loaded ... there is no package called
'zoo'"; see below. I get this both with and without "import(zoo)" in
NAMESPACE.
Suggestions?
Thanks,

Problem with .libPaths & Rterm.exe (under Vista)
Dear list,
I?m using R embedded in another program (coded in tcl/tk) under Windows
Vista. In this context I don?t launch Rgui.exe but rather Rtem.exe.
Now I have a problem finding libraries not specifically installed as
administrator (and which are not in the path ?program files? but in
Contacts\Documents of the current user). To be precise, the user
launching my tcl/tk program can?t find

R 1.7.0: Startup error: Error in "class<-"(*tmp*, value = Class) : couldn't find function "objWithClass"
Dear R-List member,
I have installed the new version of R on my PC (see system details below). I
can start the RGui with http_proxy succesfully. However, I do encounter two
problems:
1)
After starting the Rgui the following error message is displayed (vertical
dots represent omissions of output):

R_LIBS_USER not in libPaths
I have a computer where R_LIBS_USER is not found in libPaths. This is for
Windows (x64). I ran R from the command line, RGui and RStudio and I get
the same results. I also ran R --vanilla and I still get the discrepancy.
The only thing I found interesting was that I also ran SET from the command
line and the "R related variables" (e.g., R_HOME; R_LIBS_USER) are not
there. Therefore

R_LIBS_USER not in libPaths
I have not intentionally set R_LIBS_USER. I looked for an Renviron.site
file but did not see it in R/etc or my home directory. The strange part is
that if I print Sud.getenv I see a value for R_LIBS_USER. However, this
directory is not showing under libPaths.
I though .libPaths should contain R_LIBS_USER.
I also noticed that R related variables are not in the system or user
variables because I

No, but why not just call install.packages directly? (If you are using
Rgui in Windows, you can add menu items using winMenuAddItem).

R Tools & Vista_x64: Problem compiling RMySQL?
Hello:
What do I need to do to compile R packages (especially RMySQL) for
the 64-bit version of R 2.12.0 under Vista_x64?
I upgraded to "Rtools212.exe" yesterday but immediately got errors
from "R CMD check RMySQL_0.7-5.tar.gz". After the first error, I
installed it a second time, then got "undefined reference to" roughly 50
different names beginning

R_LIBS_USER not in libPaths
I'm not sure I follow what.the problem is. Are you trying to
set R_LIBS_USER but R does not acknowledge it, or do you observe something
in R that you didn't expect to be there and you are trying to figure out
why that is / where that happens?

R 2.12.0 for Windows: error when loading (some) packages
Dear all,
I have installed the latest version of R 2.12.0 available on CRAN

Debian Testing: ~/.Renviron seems to not being read (R_LIBS not set)
Dear Johannes, Dear Dirk,
Thanks a lot for helping. Here is the missing information.
Here is how I installed R. This is basically how Martin Maechler
showed me to install R under Ubuntu (in several versions so that they
are also recognized by ESS). My goal is to adjust this to make it work
for Debian:
1) sudo emacs /etc/apt/sources.list # then add:

Vignette problem and CRAN policies
Hello, All:
The vignette with the sos package used "upquote.sty", required for R
Journal when it was published in 2009. Current CRAN policy disallows
"upquote.sty", and I've so far not found a way to pass "R CMD check"
with sos without upquote.sty.
I changed sos.Rnw per an email exchange with Prof. Ripley without
solving the problem; see below. The

Arguments to utils:::menuInstallPkgs
Dears,
Is it possible (in any viable way) to pass arguments to the base function
(install.packages I think) using the utils:::menu?
For example:

problem with 'install.packages'
Hi, All:
Is there a way to identify whether any users are using a
particular package in a shared network R installation?
I ask, because we have such a multiple-user installation and when
I tried to install a package using Rgui that was in use by Rterm on a
single-user installation, 'install.packages' deleted the existing
package but failed to install the new version;

Full_Name: Frank Papenmeier
Version: 2.9.1
OS: Windows Vista
Submission from: (NULL) (134.2.190.254)
Hi,
is it possible to modify Rgui.exe in order to allow the following behavior:
Double-click in Windows explorer on fooscript.R will open an instance of
Rgui.exe with the script being opened as well as the working directory being set
to the directory of fooscript.R
Currently, one has to open

Fancy quotes on Windows
Hi,
I don't use Windows as my primary OS anymore, so didn't notice this
until recently. In R-2.10.0 under Windows useFancyQuotes is FALSE by
default, but this doesn't seem to affect the rendering of (text) help pages.
This is not a problem if I run via the Rgui or Rterm (via DOS prompt),
as the help pages are rendered in a popup window that understands
directional quotes.

Rgui.exe cannot be set as default program under Vista wtih R2.10.1
Dear moderators,
when I installed the latest version of R (R2.10.1) under Microsoft Vista (service pack 2), I ran into problems associating Rgui.exe with .RData files. On doubleckicking such files in explorer, they open in a Rterm window. Trying to associate Rgui.exe with the Rdata files via control panel / default programs does not work - Rgui is not added to the list of recommended programs. I
