LinkingTo on Windows
Dear List,
R packages may specify a "LinkingTo" attribute to specify dependencies to
the source code (mainly the header files) of other packages.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to also have a reference to the generated
library (.dll on Windows) of the other package. So including a header file
from another package to call an (exported) function will just not help.

R.DLL mapping by P/Invoke
After a long processing, I was able to create a version of a small C# class
that was able to emulate the rproxy by P/Invoke. This is mostly to find a
workaround a performance problem of the StatConnector.
It's almost work but ... I have strange memory exception when I call the
print function. The variable seems to not survive from one call to the
other.

Connecting C# to R via rscproxy.dll does not return all results
Hi there,
I am using http://www.nabble.com/Using-R.dll-in-.NET-IPC-td13265477.html
this solution to hook a C# Application to R via rscproxy.dll.
So far it all works fine, except for the fact that whenever a line in the
result vector contains more than 1 return parameter (e.g. ttestĀ“s confidence
interval from x to y) only the first value is returned (e.g x instead of x,
y)
How can I make it

clear screen?
I?ve been using this routine for several years. I?m sorry, I don?t remember
where I got it. It works as it should, viz. it blanks the R console. But
it requires package rcom and now that requires rscproxy.
cls <-
function ()
{
require(rcom)
wsh <- comCreateObject("Wscript.Shell")
comInvoke(wsh, "SendKeys", "\f")
invisible(wsh)
}

Rexcel path problem
Hi,
I am running a test to call an R script with in excel using VBA. My VBA
code is shown bellow. The middle section of this mail also includes the
content of my Rscript. The bottom part shows the error message form the
R console.
It seems that Excel is opening the R console without any problems.
The problem I am seeing is that Rinterface.RRun instruction is

Thank you Michael, Sarah and Robin for the answers to my original question.
Michael you asked:"But this is rarely a good idea....perhaps you could say a little more
about your overall goal and we could direct you to a more "R"-ish solution? "
I realise eval (known as execute in one of my other languages) is not a good idea. The background to my question is as follows:

question about attaching data
Hi I just would like to know,
When I have a dataframe, like this one called 'dummy'
And I attach it.
Then I run my code.
I then update the dataframe by making changes and I still call it 'dummy'.
I run my code again.
Now dummy is at position 1 and position 2 of the search path and if I run the code again, with another version of 'dummy' it updates and eventually my search

As you can see from his screen-copy (below), my package is successfully

loaded. Package mh1823 requires package survival, which in turn requires

R-1.7.0: Rproxy.dll loadlibrary/freelibrary error (PR#2914)
Full_Name: Venkatesh Mysore
Version: R-1.7.0
OS: WindowsXP
Submission from: (NULL) (216.165.110.10)
While accessing Rproxy.dll repeatedly (using the code from the (D)COM example in
the R website) causes a failure in the 24th iteration. R-1.6.2 does NOT give
this error. This seems to be a memory management error, that might be linked to
the huge leakage difference between R-1.7.0 and R-1.6.2

state of the rsync nation? (revisited 6/2003 from 11/2000)
I'm interested in these very questions (librsync-rsync relationship,
remaining limitations of rsync, active prospects for ground-up rewrites),
Google searches for rsync info have proved a little too vague due to the
programs ubiquity. Much has certainly changed since this was written,
could some people with knowledge in these areas could update martin's
response for the state of rsync,

Blocking problem with embeded R (windows)
Hi all,
I am trying to make calls to R from an MFC application running on XP
and am having problems blocking the application while the call
executes.
I have tried the following approaches to using R from the application
(note that I set a wait cursor while R is executing).
1) call rcmd in BATCH mode using system(). This works well, except
that I get the cmd window popping up... which makes the
