Building openssh-3.5p1 with new DES functions
Hi,
I've installed openssl-0.9.7 and now am testing current openssh-cvs.
The kerberosIV installation has it's own libdes.a. I'm quite please
openssh built successfully, congratulations! Unfortunately, kerberos
autentication is not tried at all. As far as I remeber, Ja Iven who wrote
some patch, which as he said got into 3.5p1 also removed the ifdef's that

Compaq Alpha ES45 system with 4 CPUs: OK with CentOS ?
Hi,
>From a friend I got a Compaq Alpha ES45 system with
4 CPUs. Also he gave me the CentOS-Alpha installation
CDs.
The CDs are probably recent, but I'm not sure; they
have following kernels in the RPMS directory:
kernel-2.6.9-34.EC.alpha.rpm
kernel-smp-2.6.9-34.EC.alpha.rpm
kernel-utils-2.4-13.1.80.alpha.rpm
(Is this then an up-to-date installation CD set?).
My main question is:

It's all speculation at this point. But there are _several_ factors.
But I'm sure the first time Intel saw AMD's x86-64/PAE52 presentation,
the same thing popped into my mind that popped

Parallel printer error
Hello folks:
The introduction:
Great product this Samba!
The problem:
I am trying to migrate an HP LaserJet 4 printer in our office off a VMS system
and hang it directly off the back of a UNIX machine. I have created the new
entry in the printcap (see below) file on that machine and can print from UNIX -
no problem. I created the share in Samba with what I think works pretty well
(see below).

Bus Error crash (PR#551)
Full_Name: Kjetil Kjernsmo
Version: 1.0.1
OS: osf1
Submission from: (NULL) (129.240.28.227)
Ouch, another obscure bug...
I just had a bus error crash, with a core dump, a small one this time.
Usual <URL:http://www.astro.uio.no/~kjetikj/tmp/core>.
I had done a few simulations, and done a chisq.test() on them.
These simulations also write about 190MB's to file, but
I have no idea whether

R-beta: R-0.62.1 under Digital Unix: plot.new
I am trying to set up R-0.62.1 on an alphastation running digital unix 3.2D.
I had R-0.61.1 working fine, but have had a number of problems getting 0.62.1
going....
The next problem is that plotting to any device causes R to hang. Looking
at processor usage it would appear that it gets stuck in an infinite loop
rather than pausing for input. I have managed to track the problem down to
plot.new().

R-beta: locfit package.
I was wondering if someone could help me with a problem getting locfit running.
I am running Digital Unix 3.2D on an alphastation, with R 0.61.1
I downloaded the CRAN distribution of locfit. I had no problems installing it
with R INSTALL (I installed it into my library rather than the default base
library; the output is attached at the end of this email message).
I then tried to test it with the

OpenSSH 2.3.0p1 on Compaq Alpha
Hello,
I have installed OpenSSH 2.3.0p1 on a DEC AlphaServer 4000 under Tru64 UNIX 4.0F
and on a DEC AlphaStation 200 under Tru64 UNIX 5.1.
I tested Protocol 2 and 1 with RAS authentication resp. DSA authentication an
both work well.
There is one bug: I cannot view the man pages for OpenSSH under Compaq Tru64
UNIX. Are they in a special format which is not understood by the Tru64 UNIX man

problems compiling R-0.63.3 and 0.64.0 on alpha
I have problems compiling R (both 0.63.3 and 0.64.0) on a DEC-UX 4.0E alpha
(ev6) as illustrated in the enclosed log. I have tried adding the suggestions
given in PLATFORMS, without any significant improvement...
I have included the config.cache aswell.
Any suggestions on how to solve this ?
Thanx!
Andreas

R-1.1.0 on Alpha?
Has anyone succeeded in compiling R-1.1.0 on a Digital (Compaq) Alpha
running OSF4.0F (or E)? Everything seems to compile OK (except the
frequent "Warning: Unresolved:" at link time - this threw me off the
scent for a while!), but then at run time I get:
Fatal error: The X11 shared library could not be loaded.
The error was dlopen: cannot load

remove rows of a matrix by part of its row name
Hello,
Please always cc the list.
As for the question, yes, it does. If you want to remove just the ones
with exactly 73.1 use the pattern
grep("^73\\.1$", etc)
Explanation:
Beginning of string: ^
End of string: $
Escape special characters: \\ (needed because the period is a special
character.)
Hope this helps,

IAX implementation question
People, I've setup Asterisk in a basic mode with SIP protocol. In the
future I wanna connect several offices each one with an own Asterisk
server, using IAX because I read it has no firewalling problems using
just one UDP port for control and data -aming other advantages- . SIP
has NAT problems I know.
Do you recommend the use of IAX instead of SIP for users and among
several Asterisk's
