Pb with agrep()
Happy new year everybody, I'm getting the following while trying to use the agrep() function: > pattern <- "XXX" > subject <- c("oooooo", "oooXooo", "oooXXooo", "oooXXXooo") > max <- list(ins=0, del=0, sub=0) # I want exact matches only > agrep(pattern, subject, max=max) [1] 4 OK > max$sub <- 1 # One allowed

symlink noop error
Hi All I have a bit of a strange one, and am not sure I''m doing this right. This is with 2.6.4 on Solaris 10 We want to create a sym link from a source file that is created by a package. If the package isn''t installed, puppet in noop is registering an error (big red in the dashboard) because it cannot stat the source file of the link. root@warbjohn# cat /tmp/symlink2.pp

library() in .Rd Examples (Depends vs. Imports)?
I'm a little confused when documenting my code using Imports vs. Depends. If I have an example in my .Rd that uses a library that is listed under Imports, it doesn't work, but if it is listed under Depends, it does. What is the proper way to go about using examples that rely on an Imports? Should I just if(require(somepackage)) in the example? Or is there a more elegant way of doing

S4 pb in R 2.5.0
Hi, When playing interactively with the S4 system, I've tried to define the following class: > setClass("A", representation("integer")) [1] "A" > showClass("A") Slots: Name: .Data Class: integer Extends: Class "integer", from data part Class "vector", by

Pb with .findInheritedMethods
Hi again, Here is a very simplified version of a class hierarchy defined in the Biobase package (Bioconductor). I post here because this seems to be an S4 related problem: setClass("A", representation(name="character")) setMethod("initialize", "A", function(.Object) {.Object at name <- "I'm an A"; .Object})

Pb with defineVar() example in the "Writing R Extensions" manual
Hi, I'm wondering if this code from the "Writing R Extensions" manual is really safe: SEXP mkans(double x) { SEXP ans; PROTECT(ans = allocVector(REALSXP, 1)); REAL(ans)[0] = x; UNPROTECT(1); return ans; } double feval(double x, SEXP f, SEXP rho) { defineVar(install("x"), mkans(x), rho);

Pb with validObject(..., complete=TRUE)
Hi, When called with complete=TRUE, validObject() is supposed to work in a recursive manner. But here is a situation where it doesn't seem to be the case. Let's define a class with a validity method: setClass("PosInts", representation(ii="integer")) setValidity("PosInts", function(object) { if (!all(object at ii > 0))

R minor version
Hi, When I install a package as a non-root user, it gets saved in a path such as ~/R/x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu-library/3.4 for any R version 3.4.x. Thus, if I want to install the packages somewhere else, as root say, I might do install.packages("somepackage","/some/where/else/R/site-library/3.4") In this case I would then want to construct the appropriate path in, say,

Problem understanding behaviour of versionCheck for loadNamespace (and when versions for Imports packages are checked)
Hi Duncan, Many thanks (yet again). With the hint given by your earlier email (viz that currently loadNamespace expects a 3rd component called name in the list that is used for the versionCheck argument) I had another look at what was going on with my toy examples yesterday evening. I'm still working on my issue, but thus far I have: 1) Confirmed that internal calls to loadNamespace

Pb with lapply()
Hi, If needed, lapply() tries to convert its first argument into a list before it starts doing something with it: > lapply function (X, FUN, ...) { FUN <- match.fun(FUN) if (!is.vector(X) || is.object(X)) X <- as.list(X) .Internal(lapply(X, FUN)) } But in practice, things don't always seem to "work" as suggested by this code (at least to the

Issue with getParserData in R3.0.0
Hello, I am migrating my package lambda.r to R3.0.0 and am experiencing some issues with the getParserData function (which replaces the parser package). Basically the function works in the R shell but fails when either called from RUnit or from R CMD check. I've narrowed it down to the function getSrcfile, which is returning different values depending on the code path. From the command line

Segfault when parsing UTF-8 text with srcrefs
Hi all, When I run the following code, R segfaults: text <- "?" srcfile <- srcfilecopy("test.r", text) parse(textConnection(text), srcfile = srcfile) It doesn't segfault if text is ASCII, or it's not wrapped in textConnection, or srcfile isn't set. update repo problem?
I'm trying to install the build dependencies for an SRPM using yum-builddep, and it's telling me that it can't get the repo sqlite file for updates-source from vault. Any ideas? Something wrong with my repo configuration? The only thing I've done that should have touched the repo configuration is installing epel-release-7-1.noarch. Thanks! Eric [root at localhost SRPMS]#

Source references from the parser
I have just committed some changes to R-devel (which will become R 2.5.0 next spring) to add source references to parsed R code. Here's a description of the scheme: The design is done through 2 old-style classes. "srcfile" corresponds to a source file: it contains a filename, the working directory in which that filename is to be interpreted, the last modified timestamp of the
