Multithreading
Dear list, is R capable of multithreading? At the moment it uses only 1 CPU out of 4 CPUs on my system. Is there a compilation option or start option so that R uses multiple CPUs at the same time to accomplish a calculation? Some information on my system: > R.version _ platform x86_64-pc-linux-gnu arch x86_64 os linux-gnu system x86_64,

Multithreading inquiry
I noticed that the statically linked ogg/vorbis libraries for Windows are multithreaded. I want to link them into a non-multithreaded application, so I'm considering recompiling them to use the non-multithreaded C runtime. Is this feasible, or do libogg and libvorbis rely on multithreading? <p>--- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage:

SMP, Single System Image clustering, multithreading
Hi All, I have looked through the following thread: http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/help/02b/4551.html and would like to ask after 1.5 year the same question: Are there any plans to involve multithread computations in R? Few word about my motivation: I use R on my OpenSSI cluster with 7 CPUs, so one could simply think of this cluster as of single computer with 7 CPU. My

LLVM multithreading support
Hi all, I was looking at the profile for a tool I’m working on, and noticed that it is spending 10% of its time doing locking related stuff. The structure of the tool is that it reading in a ton of stuff (e.g. one moderate example I’m working with is 40M of input) into MLIR, then uses its multithreaded pass manager to do transformations. As it happens, the structure of this is that the parsing

Multithreading
Hi. I need to execute a function from within a GUI. This seems to be no problem but this function takes about 4 minutes to finish, which means the application doesn't react at all, while the function is running. Can I execute a function as a separate Thread, while keeping control(e.g. a reference) of it at the same time? If not, how do this with a class containing this function? thanks,

[LLVMdev] multithreading and the JIT, specifically llvm::sys::Memory
Hello, We were doing some experiments to deserialize/JIT bitcode on multiple threads and we hit what looks like this issue: http://lists.cs.uiuc.edu/pipermail/llvmbugs/2013-April/027937.html We're using LLVM-3.5 so I was a bit surprised that the patch that was provided in 2013 doesn't appear to be in the current codebase. I'm curious what the status of this patch and issue are? Are

Reading files with varying number of columns
Dear R list, I am trying to read files with a varying number of columns and can't figure out how to get them in the proper format.? Some rows have five value and some have seven.? Is there a way to read them in so that two empty columns are added to every row that has only five values?? An example of the data follows.? Thanks!? Tim >46,B,00301,2004-02-03,11:59:16

Using "apply" instead of "for" loop / multithreading
Hello , I'm new to R and don't really understand how to use the function "apply" instead of a "for loop", particularly for a function with multiple entries. I have a big data file and would like to apply a function in multi thread to accelerate the processus. I have a data frame containing values of* CO2 in ppm (resp[i,6])* that I want to convert in umol of CO2

Once I added this HABTM, one of my 'through' relationships, on a non-habtm model, seems to have broke?
I''m a rails newb and have been Googling about this, but I''m still stumped. Not showing everything here, but basically it should be a pretty common setup so I''m sure others know what I''m doing wrong. - A meter can belong to many meter_groups - A meter_group can have many meters. - A user can ''subscribe'' to viewing a meter_group (Subscription)

Multithreading
we people are new team for ruby. we trying to put multithreading in our code. how is it possible? we want to read a message from queue and process that message parellaly and finally insert the message to the DB. Can you give me the Idea please. we want to process 7000 to 10000 message and store it to the Database perminute. we are trying through threads. can you please help me how we do?

[LLVMdev] LLVM Roadmap 2007-2008, PowerPC, multithreading, LLVM 2.0, etc ?
Hi, where could one find any LLVM development roadmap for this and perhaps next year? Especially would be interesting to know about * planned features for PS3 Cell processor -- as well as for Wii, Xbox360 CPUs * multithreading in general * possibly coming changes in major versioning and related issues * other interesting featuring comments on current status to above listed items are also

Multithreaded SAMBA/Winbind
Hi. We have a configuration and audit application called Tripwire Enterprise (7.5) that is running on a Red Enterprise Linux 5.2 server. On this server, we are using winbind (samba version 3.0.33) for authentication (against Windows AD). When we try to run a configuration check on users and permissions we get an error that there is a problematic frame : C [libnss_winbind.so.2+0x129f] . I

Re: a question about multithreading with libguestfs
Hi Richard! Maybe the function guestfs_mount_local_run shouldn't ACQUIRE_LOCK_FOR_CURRENT_SCOPE as it doesn't talk with the daemon and sits in the loop? What do you think? If I remove it from guestfs_mount_local_run (in lib/action-1.c, don't know how to properly remove it from ml generator), fuse_loop_mt works, but I still don't understand how it worked with fuse_loop (single

Peculiar timing result
I have been timing a particular model fit using lmer on several different computers and came up with a peculiar result - the model fit is considerably slower on a dual-core Athlon 64 using Goto's multithreaded BLAS than on a single-core processor. Here is the timing on a single-core Athlon 64 3000+ running under today's R-devel with version 0.995-5 of the Matrix package. >

Natural colours for topographic data
Dear list members I'm currently working on some topographic (elevation) data, and was somewhat surprised that the 'topo.colors' and 'terrain.colors' are of little to no use here. The problem is that these functions only return a palette of colours; they don't map depth values to colours. So if I plot (using 'image', 'persp' or similar functions) and

[GSoC 2016] Attaining 90% of the turbo boost peak with a C version of Matrix-Matrix Multiplication
Hi Tobias, according to [1], we can expect 90% of the turbo boost peak of the processor with a C version of Matrix-Matrix Multiplication that is similar to the one presented in [1]. In case of Intel Core i7-3820 SandyBridge, the theoretical maximal performance of the machine is 28.8 gflops and hence the expected number is 25,92 gflops. However, in case of, for example, n = m = 1056 and k = 1024

Multithreaded encoding?
I am interested in being able to encode a single Opus stream using several CPU cores. I get a raw audio input and "opusenc" can transcode it at 1200% speed (Raspberry PI 3B+). It saturates a single CPU core, but the other three are idle. Is out there any project to add multithreading options to "opusenc", or something in that line? Looking around, I have found this:
