Unable to configure R 2.2.1 on Solaris 5.10 x86_64
Hello, Apologies for the post here. I have read the R-Admin (learned a lot!) and searched the web for days, but still fail at compiling R on my Ultra 20 running solaris 10 x86 1/06. This is the tail of './configure' output: ..... checking for dlopen in -ldl... yes checking readline/history.h usability... no checking readline/history.h presence... no checking for readline/history.h... no

Still stuck with Samba on Solaris 10
I was hoping someone could post, or point me to, a clear set of instructions for compiling Samba 3.5.3 (or even 3.4.8) on Solaris 10. Or even just confirmation that Solaris 3.5.3 really can compile on Solaris 10 with active directory, nsswitch and zfs support. (I notice that Samba and Blastwave versions of Samba 3.4.x do not include zfs and nsswitch support.) I have a consistent issue that I

Corrections for the R manual on Solaris
There are a few errors in the R manual about Solaris. 1) Firstly you may know that Sun is now owned by Oracle. 2) "(Recent Sun machines are Opterons (?amd64?) rather than ?x86?, but 32-bit ?x86? executables are the default.) " It's not true to say that recent machines are Opterons rather than x86. Many new Sun machines are based on 64-bit Intel CPUs (often called x64). The

Packages build for Solaris ? As CSW packages ?
Well imitation is the highest form of flattery they say. So I''m surprised to see these packages neatly built to install into /opt/csw correctly and yet they exist somewhere else and have nothing to do with us here at Blastwave. fascinating. I guess we can always send an email to the person doing this and just ask if they want those packages in testing and then into the catalog for

Samba 3.2.0 doesn't compile under Solaris8
Dear All, Yesterday I downloaded the latest Samba release 3.2.0 and tried to compile it against blastwave.org packages, as I always do. But it fails with error: "/usr/include/sys/termios.h", line 38: warning: macro redefined: CTRL "./librpc/gen_ndr/srvsvc.h", line 232: warning: enumerator value overflows INT_M AX (2147483647) "./librpc/gen_ndr/srvsvc.h", line 235:

Zaptel / Asterisk on Solaris
Hello nice people :) I have been struggling with trying to get Zaptel from http://www.slimey.org/zaptel-solaris.tar.gz on a Solaris 5.11 VM I obtained from the OpenSolaris Website. I have tried installing all the necessary packages, yet I keep getting errors no matter if I try using the gcc available at sunfreeware.com OR the blastwave CSWgcc packages and GNU 'gmake' (as suggested

Slow and unpredictable Samba performance?
Hi! I've installed Solaris 10 x86 (Core2Duo - x64) server, with Samba over ZFS RAID-Z. Samba is a part of Active Directory Domain. I've managed to join it to domain, to get the users and groups from A.D. and to translate them to Unix IDs. Everything works really good. Samba is installed from the packages from Solaris 10 DVD. Only problem I have is the performance :( It's

Compile help for Solaris 10 x86, samba 3.0.28a deficient?
Hi all, I've got an ongoing battle with samba shipped with Sun Solaris 10 in it's current form (Samba version 3.0.28a) not wanting to talk to my OpenLDAP master correctly. Essentially, under certain conditions, this behaviour is observed, in the log.smbd: [2008/10/11 08:54:03, 1, pid=13610] libsmb/cliconnect.c:(1451) Error connecting to 192.168.117.150 (Connection refused)

RE: Compile problem
I am a package maintainer for the Solaris community site known as CSW or blastwave.org. A CSW user requested a dovecot package, so I am attempting to build the package. I downloaded 0.99.10.4 earlier this month and it compiles just fine on my test machine. I went to our CSW build machines to build a version that I can distribute. I got the latest CVS version and used the same environment

blastwave.rb patch
The original blastwave.rb would store "no pkg-get in /usr/sbin /usr/ bin" into @@pkgget if pkg-get is not found in the PATH. The patch below modifies blastwave.rb to store the first matching binary in the user''s PATH, or if not found, check the default location (puppetd''s PATH may not be sane) and if still not present and executable, correctly store as nil.

Downgrade TDB files?
Hi. I've tried Samba 3.4.3 and it upgraded my passdb.tdb file. After testing I concluded that I'm not going to upgrade to 3.4.3 yet, because 'getent passwd' was broken in recent BlastWave Solaris packages: http://wiki.blastwave.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=447&start=0 Now, after I downgraded the Samba back to 3.0.32, client connections started to malfunction. I saw

v2.0.0 released
http://dovecot.org/releases/2.0/dovecot-2.0.0.tar.gz http://dovecot.org/releases/2.0/dovecot-2.0.0.tar.gz.sig As promised last Friday, here's the v2.0.0 release finally. I'm cautiously optimistic that v2.0.1 won't (have to) be released for a few weeks, since there was quite a lot of testing and fixing going on in the RC stage. Fwd: RE: Problems 'make'ing on Solaris 9/10
On Solaris 10 (x86), trying to compile samba 3.5.2 I have downloaded GCC 3.4.x., make, binutils (ld etc) and sed from Sunfreeware. GCC (gcc -v) has /usr/ccs/bin/ld hardcoded so the only way around it was to symlink to the gnu one. # mv /usr/ccs/bin/ld /usr/ccs/bin/ld.1 # ln -s /usr/local/bin/ld /usr/ccs/bin/ld # ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/talloc-2.0.1 When setting some

Building wxruby on Solaris 9
Hi all, Ruby 1.8.1 Solaris 9 wxwindows 2.4.2 (package from blastwave.org) wxruby 0.3.0 I''m having trouble getting this sucker to build on my Solaris box. Here''s how I''m building: ruby extconf.rb --with-xrc-dir=/opt/csw --with-xrc-include=/opt/csw/lib/wx The include directive I added because the setup.h file is there (for whatever reason). And yes, /opt/csw/bin and

AD Auth, but Unix users and groups
Hello All: I have a Samba server (running 3.0.11) that uses an LDAP SAM for authentication. We now have AD (native mode) running in house. Since everyone has a login there, I would like to use the AD credentials for authentication. However, I would like to continue to use the Unix user ids and group ids, etc. All the documentation for AD authentication talks about ID mapping, etc. I don't
