Weighted SUR, 2SLS regressions
Is there an option for running SUR and 2SLS regressions with weighting
(I am analysing mortality in towns, hence want to weight by population size)
Many thanks

precision of minus operation and if statments
Hi Everyone,
as part of a larger script, I need to insert the result of a simple minus
operation into an if statement.
I have noticed that the precision that appear on the screen is not the precision
in which R stores the result of the minus operation, and that this change alters
the result of the if statement. For example, when running this simple script:

Dear All,
I have conducted an experiment in order to examine predation pressure in the
surroundings of potential wildlife road-crossing structures. I have
documented predation occurrence (binary?) in these structures and calculated
several possible explanatory variables describing the spatial heterogeneity
in several scales. At the landscape scale I have calculated the percentage

active connection gets lost in samba version 3.0 beta 3
Hi team,
A Samba "panic" occurs after repeatedly saving "word" files on the server.
Following the panic the "active connection" disappears, but the "active
shares" and "open files" stay.
Windows reports different errors such as "delayed write failed",
"Cannot complete the save due to a file permission error" etc.

cvs problem 3.0 pre-release
Hi samba people,
1. Is there an rpm available for the 3.0 pre-release for redhat linux 9 ?
2. I try to compile the source.
I downloaded the cvs, ran "./autogen.sh" and "./configure".
Configure stops with the message:

See config.log for details

Connection from WIN95 succeeds and from NT fails - why ?
Hello !
We have Samba 1.9.18p3 intalled on Digital Unix 4.0, and succeed to
connect from Win95 to some directory on that Digital. However,
when we try the same from NT system installed on the very same PC,
the connection fails, with the following error message:
"System error 1240 has occurred. The account is not authorized to login
from this station"
Username and domain are the same

- help - predicting with glmnet/lars for dataframes with different nrow then the train set
Hello
I'm having trouble using lars and glmnet functions to predict on a new data
set with different nrow then the original :
for instance:
=============
log.1 = glm(temp.data$TL~(.),temp.data,family = binomial,x=TRUE,y=TRUE)
nrow(test.data) != nrow(temp.data # == TRUE
Val.frame = model.frame(log.1,test.data) # returns a data frame with the
variables needed to use log.1

Unix-Windows file synchronization problem
Looking for help !
We have a rather strange problem working with Samba installed
on a DEC Alpha server, when reading an exported directory from Windows.
We are using an application written in C that reads a file from drive E:
where a directory exported from Alpha is mounted. Once the file is read,
all the further readings ignore changes in the file (file is changed
on Alpha). Even as we read it

non-english text mining with tm package
Hello,
I'm having issues working with the tm package on non-english languages.
are there any extensions that enable the package to work with Hebrew (and
other non-roman letter languages for that matter) ?
(e.g. although I can construct a Corpus that shows the hebrew documents
alright,
I cannot create a term-document matrix (it does not identify any of the

improved ssh-copy-id
Hey all,
The attached copy of ssh-copy-id has support for ssh's -o options as
well as a -p option for the port. I opted to write this cleanroom
because at the time I didn't know the origin of the ssh-copy-id script
and wasn't sure of license concerns.
Comments / Suggestions welcome.

Histogram for grouped data in R
I have grouped data in this format
Size -- Count
0-10 -- 15
10-20 -- 25
20-50 -- 10
50-100 -- 5
I've been trying to find a way to set this up with the proper histogram
heights, but can't seem to figure it out. So any help would be much
appreciated!

allow multiple users
Hi,
I have user A that connects to ssh successfully through public key
authentication.
I created on server user B, but ssh doesn't allow user B to connect through PKI.
Both users use the same key to connect, for user A works, for user B doesn't.
Here is the fail message:
