How to view the code of a method?
Dear All I am a biginner of R. I have difficulty with reading the code of a method. I am using the vars package to estimate a VAR model and I want to view the code of "predict" method for objects with class attribute "varest". I thougt I could just type the name "predict" without anything to display the code of the method as I often do with generic function.

the predict.lda function

Prediction method for lowess,loess,lokerns,lpepa,ksmooth
Hi Every Body, I don't know why some regression functions have no related prediction function. For example lowess, loess, lokerns, lpridge, lpepa, and ksmooth. What could help? R can't find some functions in assist package
Oh yes. The "load package" under the "packages menu" in the Windows version does that. To check I typed "library(assist)" after starting R. Same behavior, ssr is found, but others like predict.ssr, and plot.ssr, give a "not found" message. Thanks for the suggestion. Mike

problems with plot.formula
With the recent changes in R 1.9.x, it is now impossible to properly call plot on a formula() where the formula is provided via a named first argument. Non-visible functions are asterisked
Dear R-Helpers, I suspect I'm about to ask a FAQ, but I haven't been able to find an answer in the FAQ, AItR or an R Site Search. List S3 methods and defining packages
Hi, from the man page ?methods, I expected to be able to build pairs (class,package) for a given S3 method, e.g., print, using attr(methods(print), 'info'). However all the methods, except the ones defined in base or S4 methods, get the 'from' value "registered S3method for print", instead of the actual package name (see below for the first rows). error when compiling "stats" library in R-2.3.1 on Solaris x86
