Problem with S4 inheritance: unexpected re-initialization?
Dear all, To explain my problem I am attaching a demonstration package "myclasspkg": I have the following two S4 classes with similar inheritance: SubSubClassA <- SubClassB <- BaseClass SubSubClassB <- SubClassB <- BaseClass In R I am calling the following functions: > library(myclasspkg) > subA <-

Problems with package containing S4 classes
Dear all, Currently, I am trying to create a test package "testS4" using S4 classes, which I am attaching. Running R CMD check gives the following error: coeurebooks-computer:/Volumes/CoreData/CRAN cs$ R CMD check testS4_0.1.1.tar.gz * checking for working latex ...sh: line 1: latex: command not found NO * using log directory '/Volumes/CoreData/CRAN/testS4.Rcheck' * using R

RTTI with smart pointers
Hi, I would like to use std::shared_ptr in my pass. However I'm facing a problem wrt RTTI. If I have a code like: std::shared_ptr<BaseClass> x(new DerivedClass()); ... std::shared_ptr<DerivedClass> p = std::dynamic_pointer_cast<DerivedClass>(x); It does not compile since the default RTTI infrastructure is not used by LLVM. Also, it's not clear to me if the

Inherited S4 methods
Dear all, Recently, there was a question to use the same method for more than one class: https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-devel/2007-March/044809.html I have a variation of this question: Is it possible to use the same function name, e.g. "myfunction" in both, an S4 baseClass and derivedClass. The method "myfunction" in derivedCalss should extend the functionality defined

Greek character and R
Dear R users. In a loop, I set the title of my graph with : mytitle = expression(paste(delta^13,'C Station ', i) title(mytitle) However, instead of using value of i, it will literally use "i" character. Any one know the way to concatenate the value of i to the mathematical expression? With regards, Phil -- View this message in context:

gráfico jpg png
Estimados Hace unos días envié un correo porque tenía problemas para guardar los gráficos en el disco rígido, utilizando R server 9, comentaba que el código antes funcionaba pero que tenía fallas. No encuentro mi mensaje en la lista para continuar el hilo, encontré el problema, no lo comprendo del todo pero cambiando jpg por png funciona, aparentemente hay un inconveniente para guardar en jpg.

incomplete final line found on <name of my sourced function file>
Dear R-ers, I hope there is a really simple solution to my problem. I've written a function that I saved in an .r file. I source this file in my code. For a while it worked fine. But then when I run the line: source("F mylineplot.r") I started getting a warning: In readLines(file) : incomplete final line found on 'F mylineplot.r' I have no idea why - I tried to check and

How to apply a function to subsets of a data frame *and* obtain a data frame again?
Dear all, First, let's create some data to play around: set.seed(1) (df <- data.frame(Group=rep(c("Group1","Group2","Group3"), each=10), Value=c(rexp(10, 1), rexp(10, 4), rexp(10, 10)))[sample(1:30,30),]) ## Now we need the empirical distribution function: edf <- function(x) ecdf(x)(x) # empirical distribution function evaluated at x ##

Sweave: \Sexpr and variables with special chars
I am using \Sexpr to include a variable in a title of a Sweave document: \documentclass[a4paper]{article} <<echo=false, results=hide>>= #mytitlevar <- "Stuff" # case 1, everything is find mytitlevar <- "Stuff_first" # case 2, f is turned into sub-text @ \title{MyTitle: \\ \Sexpr{mytitlevar} } \begin{document} \maketitle \end{document} When doing this, the

Extending a js class
It''s been a few days since I posted my last two emails (of which, no one replied to) so I''ve gone ahead and coded a working slider class as well as a ''resizeable'' class that allows a user to drag and resize the element. I also linked these two together as I want to have slider behavior that can resize the resizeable element. The end result is both the

STI Problem
Hi, I''m having trouble with some STI Classes in a test. When I create a new Class of an STI derived base class the type column is not set. If I do object = DerivedClass.create!(params) then object[:type] == nil for some reason. Any ideas why this is so? I assumed rails takes care of setting the type column in STI (that''s what I read). Prototype "classes" and inheritance
JavaScript doesn''t (yet) have a notion of classes. Prototype.js just adds a suitable convention for implementing them. It provides a way to create a new class by extending a base class using Object.extend, but it doesn''t handle method inheritance. There are ways of doing implementing this through traversing the chain of prototypes, but I''m not sure they are

SweaveInput and absolute paths
Hi, Is there a way to turn off the automatic inclusion of "./" at the beginning of a path specified in an \SweaveInput{} instruction? I'd like to create some reusable "template modules" of Sweave code and put them in a standard directory like /Resources/Affymetrix Then the corresponding file that uses one of these would include a command like

Problem with setValidity() or resetClass() or ... ?
Hi, I'm working with Version 1.9.0 (2004-04-12) on Windows 98/NT/2000 where I found the following wrong (?) behavior of setValidity(). I already mentioned this on the R-help list (2004-06-11, was "setValidity changes Extends?") , but as I got no answer I tried to figure out what's happening. Well, setValidity() behaves not as I would expect (something about the

Failure to preserve package attribute when coercing S4 objects (PR#6904)
If a class is derived from a superclass using 'contains', then coercion of an object from the class to the superclass fails to preserve the 'package' attribute of class of the object. This occurs only when the derived class has no additional slots. This is a problem because the 'new' function relies on the exact identity of the class, including the package attribute.

Correction to vec-subset speed patch
I found a bug in one of the fourteen speed patches I posted, namely in patch-vec-subset. I've fixed this (I now see one does need to duplicate index vectors sometimes, though one can avoid it most of the time). I also split this patch in two, since it really has two different and independent parts. The patch-vec-subset patch now has only some straightforward (locally-checkable) speedups for
